Pacers Bring Back James Wiseman On 10-Day Deal
The Pacers have re-signed center James Wiseman to a 10-day contract via a hardship exception, the team announced in a press release. Indiana ended Gabe McGlothan‘s 10-day hardship deal after just four days in order to bring back Wiseman.
Wiseman, who will be active for Saturday’s game in New Orleans, was released by the Pacers about a week into the 2025/26 regular season amid a wave of backcourt injuries. He had re-signed with Indiana over the summer on a two-year, minimum-salary deal that featured a $1MM partial guarantee (the second season was a team option).
The second overall pick of the 2020 draft, Wiseman has dealt with multiple major injuries during his NBA career, having missed the entire 2021/22 campaign following knee surgery. The 24-year-old also tore his Achilles tendon in Indiana’s regular season opener in October 2024, an injury which sidelined him for the remainder of ’24/25.
In 149 games with Golden State, Detroit and Indiana, Wiseman has averaged 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per contest.
While the Pacers have been ravaged by injuries to open ’25/26, their three centers (Jay Huff, Isaiah Jackson and Tony Bradley) have been active for every game to this point, observes Tony East of Circle City Spin (Twitter links).
However, that may change on Saturday, as Bradley has been diagnosed with a fractured right thumb and is considered questionable to suit up against the Pelicans. The addition of Wiseman could mean Bradley will miss some time with the injury, East notes.
McGlothan didn’t play at all in his only game on the Pacers’ active roster, but will still receive his full 10-day salary of $73,153.
Pacers Sign Gabe McGlothan To 10-Day Contract
10:16 am: The signing is official, according to the Pacers.
8:57 am: The Pacers are promoting forward Gabe McGlothan from their G League affiliate to the NBA, according to Shams Charania of ESPN, who reports (via Twitter) that McGlothan will sign a 10-day contract with Indiana via a hardship exception.
McGlothan, 26, went undrafted out of Grand Canyon University in 2024 and spent his first professional season with the Nuggets’ G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold.
Indiana’s NBAGL affiliate, the Noblesville Boom, acquired McGlothan’s returning rights from the Gold over the summer and he has taken on an increased role for the Boom this fall, averaging 16.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.9 steals in 33.8 minutes per game across 14 Tip-Off Tournament outings. The 6’6″ forward has knocked down 52.6% of his shots from the floor and 90.0% from the free throw line.
McGlothan will get his first look at the NBA level from a Pacers team that has been hit hard by injuries this season. Teams aren’t permitted to sign standard 10-day contracts until January, but hardship 10-day deals are permitted if a club has four players who have missed three or more consecutive games due to injuries and are expected to remain sidelined for at least two more weeks.
Indiana has qualified for hardship exceptions for most of the season, having signed Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Cody Martin, and Garrison Mathews to a total of five 10-day contracts (Mathews has since signed a rest-of-season deal and is still on the roster). Currently, the Pacers are eligible for a hardship exception due to injuries affecting Tyrese Haliburton, Obi Toppin, Aaron Nesmith, and Ben Sheppard.
Pacers Waive Gabe McGlothan, Jalen Slawson
The Pacers have waived forwards Gabe McGlothan and Jalen Slawson, according to a team press release. In subsequent moves, Indiana signed guard Kyle Guy and forward Ray Spalding to Exhibit 10 contracts, with an eye toward having them join the Noblesville Boom.
McGlothan, who was signed to a camp deal last month, was on the Nuggets’ training camp roster in 2024 but was waived before opening night. He spent the season with the Grand Rapids Gold of the G League, averaging 8.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 42 games. McGlothan went undrafted after playing four collegiate seasons at Grand Canyon and was on Dallas’ Summer League roster this July.
Slawson, who joined the Pacers on a camp contract in early July, spent last season with the Osceola Magic in the G League. He appeared in 50 games at that level, averaging 12.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 30.1 minutes per contest. The 25-year-old was on the Sixers’ Summer League squad in July.
Indiana’s intent to sign Guy was previously reported. The Boom acquired Spalding’s returning rights from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (the Rockets’ affiliate) in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick earlier this month.
McGlothan and Slawson will likely wind up with the Boom. All four players could earn bonuses worth up to $85,300 if they stay with Indiana’s affiliate for at least 60 days.
Pacers Add Samson Johnson, Gabe McGlothan On Camp Deals
The Pacers have added big man Samson Johnson and forward Gabe McGlothan on Exhibit 10 contracts and waived guards Steven Ashworth and RJ Felton, according to a team press release.
It’s expected that Johnson and McGlothan will also be waived in the near future with the intent of having them join their NBA G League franchise, the Noblesville Boom. Each player would be eligible for a bonus worth up to $85,300 if he spends at least 60 days with Noblesville.
Indiana’s intent to sign Johnson was reported just after he went undrafted in June. Johnson won back-to-back national championships with UConn in 2023 and 2024 as a role player for the Huskies. He averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 19.4 minutes per contest as a senior last season (34 games) and played for the Pacers’ Summer League squad in July.
McGlothan was on the Nuggets’ training camp last year but was waived before opening night. He spent the season with the Grand Rapids Gold of the G League, averaging 8.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 42 games. Ashworth and Felton were signed to Exhibit 10 deals on Monday.
Ashworth spent three years at Utah State before spending his final two college seasons at Creighton. As a “super senior” in 2024/25, he averaged 16.4 PPG, 4.1 RPG and a Big East-best 6.8 APG in 35 games (36.0 MPG) for the Blue Jays.
Felton, who played four years of college ball at East Carolina, averaged 18.8 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 2.5 APG and 1.2 SPG on .414/.376/.743 shooting splits in 30 games (34.5 MPG) last season for the Pirates.
Ashworth and Felton also suited up for the Pacers’ Summer League team in July.
Nuggets Waive Three Camp Invitees
The Nuggets have waived forwards Gabe McGlothan and Jaylin Williams, along with guard Jahmir Young, according to NBA.com’s official transaction log. McGlothan, Williams, and Young were in camp with Denver on Exhibit 10 deals.
With the Nuggets carrying 15 players on guaranteed contracts and three on two-way contracts, it always appeared the plan was to have the trio eventually report to the Grand Rapids Gold, Denver’s G League affiliate. That’s likely to be the next stop for all three players, who will receive Exhibit 10 bonuses worth $77.5K apiece if they spend at least 60 days with the Gold.
Young got a chance to play 14 minutes in the team’s second exhibition game in Abu Dhabi against Boston on Sunday and delivered eight points, two rebounds, and two assists. However, Williams (not to be confused with the Jaylin Williams in Oklahoma City) didn’t see action in either of those preseason contests and McGlothan appeared only very briefly in Friday’s game, checking in with three seconds left in the fourth quarter.
The cuts leave Denver with 18 players on its roster, three shy of the preseason limit. The Nuggets have reportedly reached an agreement to sign big man Charles Bediako and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they rotate other players in and out of those back-end roster spots before the season begins, primarily for G League purposes.
Signing and waiving players on Exhibit 10 contracts before the season allows teams to secure players’ NBAGL rights and/or ensure those players will receive bonus money for spending 60+ days with the team’s G League affiliate.
Nuggets Sign McGlothan, Williams To Camp Deals

McGlothan went undrafted after playing the last four collegiate seasons at Grand Canyon. He averaged 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds in 34 starts last season.

Not to be confused with the Thunder forward of the same name, Williams went undrafted out of Auburn. He averaged 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Tigers in 34 games last season. Denver’s intention to sign Williams was also previously reported.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal that doesn’t count against a team’s cap unless the player makes the regular season roster. It can be converted to a two-way contract before the season begins or the player can earn a bonus of up to $77.5K if he’s waived and then spends at least 60 days with his team’s G League affiliate.
Nuggets To Sign Gabe McGlothan To Exhibit 10 Deal
Undrafted Grand Canyon forward Gabe McGlothan is signing with the Nuggets on an Exhibit 10 contract, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania (Twitter link).
As Charania notes, McGlothan helped Grand Canyon to a victory in the NCAA Tournament this year and went on to win the collegiate slam dunk contest. McGlothan averaged 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks per game in 2023/24 while shooting 47.7% from the field and 39.8% from beyond the arc.
McGlothan spent his freshman season at Southeast Missouri State in 2018/19 before transferring to Grand Canyon and spending the subsequent five seasons there (redshirted in ’19/20). In 156 collegiate appearances (111 starts), McGlothan averaged 10.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
After not owning a second round pick, the Nuggets have been proactive in adding undrafted talent to their roster. They reportedly agreed to two-way contracts with Creighton’s Trey Alexander and PJ Hall last night, as well as reportedly lining up Exhibit 10 deals with Auburn’s Jaylin Williams and Maryland’s Jahmir Young.
