Magic Sign Andrew Nicholson

The Magic have signed 2012 first-round pick Andrew Nicholson, according to a team release. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the 19th overall pick has a rookie scale amount of about $1.18MM, so Nicholson could sign for up to about $1.42MM (120%) for year one.

Nicholson, 22, spent four seasons at St. Bonaventure, averaging 18.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in 30.1 minutes per game in his senior season.

Celtics Sign Sullinger, Melo, Joseph

The Celtics have officially signed 2012 draft picks Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo, and Kris Joseph, according to a team release. Sullinger and Melo were first-rounders, taken 21st and 22nd overall, while Joseph was taken in the second round, with pick No. 51.

Semih Erden Signs In Turkey

After two seasons in the NBA, Semih Erden has signed a two-year contract with Aandolu Efes Istanbul and will return to his native Turkey, confirms Emiliano Carchia of Sportando. The agreement, first reported by Basketfaul, also includes a third-year option, and was made official by the team today.

Bobcats Waive Jamario Moon

The Bobcats have waived Jamario Moon, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer (Twitter link). The athletic small forward played in eight games, averaging 2.3 points and 2.8 rebounds, after signing with the Bobcats in April. Moon had a non-guaranteed contract with the team for the minimum salary in 2012/13. Unless a team clears in off waivers in the next seven days, he'll become an unrestricted free agent.

Cavaliers Waive Manny Harris

The Cavaliers have waived Manny Harris, the team announced today in a press release. Harris had a non-guaranteed contract for the coming season, so the Cavs won't be on the hook for any of his 2012/13 salary.

Lakers Re-Sign Darius Morris To Qualifying Offer

The Lakers have re-signed Darius Morris to his qualifying offer, reports Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports (via Twitter). The deal will pay him about $962K for 2012/13. Because Morris accepted the one-year offer, he'll be a free agent again next summer.

Earl Clark Exercises Player Option With Magic

SUNDAY, 12:53pm: Clark changed his mind on his option and informed the Magic on Friday that he has decided to opt in, according to Alex Kennedy (Twitter links). The move will put him on Orlando's books for $1.24MM next season.

THURSDAY, 2:08pm: Magic backup big man Earl Clark is declining his $1.24MM option for next season and will become an unrestricted free agent, Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld reports, via Twitter. Clark signed a two-year, $2.4MM deal before the season that included the option. The Magic acquired Clark, a former 14th overall pick by the Suns, at midseason in 2010/11, but he's seen little playing time.

Qualifying Offers: Saturday

Here’s our running list of qualifying offers extended to players this evening.  If a qualifying offer is not tendered to a player eligible for restricted free agency, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Players who are tendered qualifying offers have the option to accept the one-year contract and hit unrestricted free agency a year from now, but the primary purpose of the offers are to ensure that the player’s team can match any offers for him this summer.  Here are today’s qualifying offers, with the latest added to the top of the page….

  • The Cavs‬ have made a qualifying offer to center Semih Erden, according to Mary Schmitt Boyer and Jodie Valade. of The Plain Dealer (via Twitter).  The offer is just over $1MM for the Turkish big man.

Beasley, Randolph Become Unrestricted FAs

The Timberwolves announced that they will not be making qualifying offers to Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph, making them unrestricted free agents.  Both moves were widely anticipated.

The qualifying offer for Beasley, the second-overall pick in the 2008 draft, would have been for $8.17MM.  Randolph, who averaged 7.4 PPG and 3.6 RPG last season, could have been given a qualifying offer for a shade over $4MM.
