Minor Moves: Jerome James, Jamario Moon

Here are today's notable international and D-League-related transactions:

  • Jerome James has signed a contract to play with Puerto Rican team Caciques de Humacao, according to Sportando. The last we heard from James, a former NBA veteran, he was signing with the D-League.
  • Jamario Moon, who signed with the D-League this week, has joined the Los Angeles D-Fenders, tweets Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.

Hawks Re-Sign Erick Dampier

The Hawks have signed Erick Dampier for the rest of the season, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter). The deal, which the team made official in a press release, will likely be for a pro-rated portion of the veteran's minimum.

Dampier, who inked a pair of 10-day contracts with the team, has played in six games for the Hawks this year, failing to score while averaging 1.8 rebounds in five minutes a night. Though Hawks coach Larry Drew said the 6'11" Dampier is not in the best of shape, the team is looking to the 16th-year veteran to provide depth in the post while Al Horford tries to come back from a torn left pectoral muscle before the end of the season and Jason Collins nurses a torn left elbow ligament.

Dampier, 36, spent most of his career with the Warriors and Mavs, with his best season coming in 2003/04, when he averaged 12.3 PPG and 12.0 for Golden State. That earned him a seven-year, $73MM contract with the Mavs.

The Hawks announced Wednesday (via Twitter) that they expected to sign Dampier for the remainder of the season.

Minor Moves: Powell, Lee, Dowdell, Ebanks

We'll round up today's notable international and D-League-related transactions here, with the latest up top….

  • Josh Powell has signed with Swiss team Neuchatel, according to Sportando. Powell played most of this season in China, and was thought to be drawing some interest from NBA teams. He appeared in 54 games for the Hawks a year ago.
  • The Timberwolves have assigned Malcolm Lee to the team's D-League affiliate in Sioux Falls, according to the team (Twitter link). It's Lee's second D-League assignment this season.
  • Spain's Gran Canaria has signed Zabian Dowdell to a contract for the rest of the season, according to the team's website (hat tip to Sportando). Dowdell signed a pair of 10-day contracts with the Suns a year ago before the team brought him aboard for the remainder of the season. After appearing in 24 games in 2010/11, he was cut by the Suns prior to this season.
  • Via Mike Trudell of Lakers.com (Twitter link), the Lakers announced last night that they've recalled Devin Ebanks from the L.A. D-Fenders, their D-League affiliate. Ebanks, who started four games for the Lakers earlier this season, had been assigned to the D-Fenders two weeks ago.

Jamario Moon Signs With D-League

Jamario Moon has signed with the D-League and will join a team when he clears waivers later this week, reports Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside.

The 31-year-old Moon made his NBA debut in 2007 for the Raptors, and quickly became a regular fixture in Toronto's starting lineup. Moon also played for the Heat, Cavs, and Clippers over the course of his four years in the NBA. He was part of the deadline deal last season that sent him and Mo Williams to Los Angeles in exchange for Baron Davis and the first-round pick that eventually became Kyrie Irving.

A solid defender, Moon averaged 6.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game for his career. His PER slipped in each of his four seasons, from 15.0 as a rookie to 10.1 last season.

Dan Gadzuric To Sign With D-League

Dan Gadzuric will sign in the D-League within the next few days, according to Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside (via Twitter).

Gadzuric, 34, last saw NBA action in 2010/11 with the Nets, who acquired him from Golden State along with Brandan Wright in a deal for Troy Murphy. For the 6'11" Gadzuric, it was the second consecutive year he'd been traded — he and Charlie Bell were sent from the Bucks to the Warriors in exchange for Corey Maggette in June 2010.

In nine NBA seasons and 525 games, Gadzuric posted 4.7 points and 4.4 boards in 14.8 minutes per contest. A career year in 2004/05, when he averaged 7.3 PPG and 8.2 RPG in 81 starts for the Bucks, earned him a six-year, $36MM contract that he never lived up to.

Heat Re-Sign Mickell Gladness

Mickell Gladness has signed sign a second 10-day contract with the Heat, the team confirmed today (hat tip to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel). Gladness had been offered a 10-day deal by the Warriors, but preferred to stay with the Heat.

Gladness was waived by the Heat earlier this month, before his contract became guaranteed for the season, but signed a 10-day contract shortly thereafter. If the Heat intend to keep the 25-year-old for longer than ten more days, they'll have to sign him to a rest-of-season deal after March 9th.

In eight games for the Heat this year, Gladness has logged 28 minutes, recording two points and 11 rebounds. Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida first reported that the big man would sign a second 10-day contract with Miami.

Hornets Re-Sign Lance Thomas, Solomon Jones

The Hornets have re-signed Lance Thomas and Solomon Jones, the team announced last night. Thomas, who had already received two 10-day contracts, will be signed for the remainder of the season, while Jones received his second 10-day deal.

Thomas, who signed the league's first 10-day contract this season, also becomes the first player to have his contract guaranteed for the remainder of the season following two 10-day deals. As we outlined earlier this month in our 10-day contract primer, teams are only permitted to sign players to two 10-day contracts (not necessarily consecutively) before being required to sign them for the rest of the season or part ways.

Thomas has appeared in 11 games for the Hornets, averaging 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per game. Jones, meanwhile, has played in five games, posting 3.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in just under 15 minutes per contest.

John Reid of the New Orleans Times-Picayune first reported that both frontcourt players were expected to be re-signed.

Clippers Sign Bobby Simmons

The Clippers have signed Bobby Simmons out of the D-League to a 10-day contract, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. ESPN's Marc Stein first reported over the weekend that the Clippers were planning to sign Simmons.

It will be the second stint with the Clippers for the 31-year-old Simmons, who won the Most Improved Player award while with the team in 2004/05. The 6'6", 220-pound swingman has played in parts of nine NBA seasons, the most recent being a two-game stint with the Spurs last year.

Simmons put up 16.4 PPG, 5.9 RPG and 2.7 APG during that award-winning season with the Clippers, but left to sign a free agent deal with the Bucks that summer and soon reverted to form. This year, he was averaging 13.5 PPG and 7.6 RPG for the D-League's Reno Bighorns.

The Clippers had an empty spot on their roster, so they won't have to let anybody go to bring in Simmons, who'll provide depth at the wing positions that was lost when starting shooting guard Chauncey Billups was lost for the year with a torn Achilles' tendon. Simmons is a career 40% three-point shooter, so he figures to help replace Billups' range, as well.

Nets Sign Gerald Green To 10-Day Contract

Gerald Green has officially signed a 10-day contract, the team announced (Twitter link). He'll take the roster spot that was vacated when Andre Emmett's 10-day deal expired.

Green had been a member of the D-League's Los Angeles D-Fenders, and was the MVP of this weekend's D-League All-Star game. He has averaged 19.1 points in 22 games on the season.

The 26-year-old Green last appeared in the NBA in 2009 as a member of the Dallas Mavericks when he averaged 5.2 points in about 10 minutes per game.  The Nets will be his fifth NBA franchise, as the forward also had stops in Boston, Houston and Minnesota.

Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio first reported (via Twitter) that Green would sign with the Nets.

Trail Blazers Sign Joel Przybilla

Joel Przybilla has officially signed with the Trail Blazers, the team announced today (Twitter link). Przybilla, who passed a physical yesterday, will earn a pro-rated portion of the veteran's minimum salary for the remainder of the season.

The ninth overall pick in the 2000 draft, Przybilla had spent six and a half seasons with the Blazers before he was traded last February as part of the deal that saw Gerald Wallace head to Portland. The 32-year-old averaged 5.2 PPG and 7.5 RPG with a .581 FG% during his first five years with the Blazers, though his health and production began to slip in 2009. The 7'1" center will add size and depth to a Blazers' frontcourt that includes LaMarcus Aldridge, Marcus Camby, Kurt Thomas, and Craig Smith.

Przybilla had been deciding whether to sign with the Blazers, Bulls, Heat, or Bucks, or to sit out the season and remain with his family in Milwaukee. Portland has a full roster of 15 players, so a corresponding move will have to be made before Przybilla officially joins the team.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports first reported that Przybilla had decided to sign with the Blazers, while SI.com's Sam Amick and Jason Quick of the Oregonian added details.
