Odds & Ends: Barkley, Wade, Allen, Pietrus, Shaw

Danny Ferry is considered the frontrunner to eventually replace Rod Thorn in the 76ers' front office, but he's not the only one interested in the position. According to 94WIP's Anthony Gargano (link via CBS Philly), Charles Barkley has interest in becoming the next Sixers GM. Like last month's story that briefly linked Shaquille O'Neal to the Magic's GM opening, I don't expect this one to have legs, but the fact that Barkley expressed interest in a front office job is worth tucking away, at the very least.

Some members of the Thunder have been on the team long enough to have played in Seattle as the SuperSonics, while others were just added within the last few months. With the Thunder holding a 1-0 lead over the Heat in the 2012 NBA Finals, let's take a look at how GM Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City front office built the 2011/12 Thunder, from Nick Collison in 2003 to Derek Fisher in 2012:

Latest On Kevin Garnett

The general consensus heading into the 2011/12 season suggested it could be the last run for the Celtics' Big Three before a rebuild, but that view has since shifted. While Ray Allen may not be back in Boston next season, it's looking more likely that the Celtics will try to retain Kevin Garnett for at least one more year. According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, Garnett may hold off on making a decision until he gets an idea of the Celtics' approach and the other players they'll attempt to sign.

Odds & Ends: Lakers, Blazers, Thorn, Magic

Accomplished Italian coach Ettore Messina told Dave McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles.com that he'll be leaving his job as a consultant for the Lakers to once again take the helm for CSKA Moscow.  Messina's contract will include an out clause if he is presented with an NBA head coaching opportunity, however.  The 52-year-old has been linked to a handful of NBA teams in recent years and could be an interesting addition to ongoing searches in Orlando, Charlotte, and possibly Portland.  More from around the league after the jump..
