AUGUST 2: The Spurs have issued a press release officially announcing their deal with Lee.
JULY 28: The Spurs have added some veteran help to their frontcourt, with the team reaching an agreement on a contract with unrestricted free agent David Lee, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports (via Twitter).
It will be a two-year pact that includes a player option for the 2017/18 campaign, Wojnarowski adds. The contract will pay Lee an estimated $3.2MM, Jabari Young of The San Antonio Express-News tweets. That will make it a minimum-salary pact.
Lee brings a solid work ethic, a versatile skill set and a high motor with him to San Antonio. If he can remain healthy, Lee should fit right in with the Spurs brand of basketball. He’ll add some depth to a frontcourt that will be without Tim Duncan, who announced his retirement earlier this offseason.
The 33-year-old finished the 2015/16 season with the Mavericks after he reached a buyout arrangement with the Celtics. In 25 games with Dallas, Lee averaged 8.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 17.3 minutes per outing. He shot .636/.000/.738 from the field during his time in Texas.

Makes sense that the Spurs would nab up Lee.
I can’t understand how Mozgov got a deal for over 64 million and Lee gets a little over 3 million. Mozgov is big. That’s his asset. He’s not a particularly offensive or defensive player. At least Lee, a bit older than Mozgov, can rebound and score.
Pretty solid move for the Spurs. I think he will get at least 20 minutes a game, could be more with Pau resting occasionally. Only has to battle Kyle Anderson and Dedmon for PT off the bench.
He beat out Dedmon for playing time the second he signed his contract
Lee good pickup behind Aldridge as I don’t want neither player playing center unless u playing golden state and green at center. Deadman is center who be behind paul gasoline and is deAndre jordan type player.Now pop need find playing time Davis Bertans who will be best 3 pts shooter on team at 6″10 aka combination Nowiniski/ kolver shooter and if u don’t know much about him he be next best steal George hill trade. And next best player from Europe since Ginobilli and parker.

I really like DLee’s game. Seems good things happen when he’s on court due to said high motor, passing and finishing ability. Feel like their defence has taken a huge step backwards though
