Bulls Shopping Rajon Rondo, Nikola Mirotic

A disappointing first half of the season has led the Bulls to put Rajon Rondo and Nikola Mirotic on the trade market, reports Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times.

However, a source adds that Chicago’s front office isn’t getting the type of offers it wants for either player.

Rondo was briefly benched and then relegated to the second unit after signing a two-year deal worth nearly $27MM over the summer. He is averaging 6.6 points and 6.7 assists in 36 games thiss season, barely half of his numbers in Sacramento a year ago. Rondo could be an attractive trade piece because only $3MM of his salary for next season is guaranteed as we outlined in our Trade Candidate series.

Mirotic is making nearly $5.8MM in the final season of his contract. He is averaging 9.3 points per game and shooting 39% from the field, and has widely been considered a disappointment since signing with Chicago three years ago.

Jimmy Butler has reportedly expressed disappointment to the front office about the current roster, but a source says he doesn’t want to betray his teammates by singling anybody out.

“I take everything personal,’’ Butler said after Friday’s loss to Atlanta. “I hate losing. I’ll leave it at that. Losing is something I don’t accept, we shouldn’t accept. We gotta go out and be better.”

The Bulls need to blow up the front office itself.

Celtics need to go get jimmy butler and make him happy with winning.Celtics get butler and they could fight off the cavaliers for the top seed in the east

Nets pick, maybe both, other picks on the table as well, and anyone other than Thomas or Horford would be on the table. Preferably not Bradley.

        • Would have to start with both Nets picks. Need a franchise changing return for a franchise changing talent who has a 3-4 year window. Otherwise, Lee butler and build around him for those 3-4 years.

        • That’s probably the best offer they would get. Number 1 overall pick plus assets.

  3. Definitely need to trade all these pieces for better and younger talent. Sadly feels like a pipe dream. What sucks too is that if bulls miraculously decide to blow it up, Wade and Butler are gone. Sucks that they aren’t getting that Sacramento pick either. Trading for Knight, McLemore, Herzonja, or any other young athletic player out there should be a focus but front office is too inept.

if I was Chicago I would flip Rondo and Mirotic from Okafor. Chi gets a low post presence which they have not had in forever. Chi gets a sort of big 3. Philly gets a pass first facilitator in Rondo to feed Embiid and eventually Simmons. But I am Celtics fan, Butler to Boston!

what else are you going to get for him? Everyone team knows he is on the chopping block and they aren’t going to pay much for him or Noel because Noel could leave at the end of the season. Pick your poison!

  5. The Bulls are not blowing the team up they want to win right now e.g. acquiring DWade. They have a getting talent problem because they’re so damn cheap and the front office are morons.

The Bulls aren’t getting anything for Rondo, unless they take back a long term, bad contract, and that’s simply not going to happen, because they won’t want to tie up their financial “flexibility” going forward.

Mirotic? Nobody wants him either. Who wants an inconsistent, no defense forward? He’s not going anywhere. #WeAreDoomed

  8. The only people in the basketball world who didn’t see how poorly this roster was constructed, was the Bulls. What made them think Rondo-Butler-Wade would work?

    • Who are you even talking about??

Rondo is a PG, and Mirotic is a stretch 4….You have to be talking about two other players..

BUT there is no way you are calling Butler a weak 3..If so, I take it the game of basketball must he new to you. Butler is one of the top SF’s in basketball..After Durant, Lebron, and Leonard..Butler is in a very close second tier, and he along with Leonard are two of the top defenders in all of the NBA…

I hope somehow I am reading that incorrectly; otherwise, I truly have no more words for your comment…lol
