Season In Jeopardy For Ben Simmons?

A report out of Philadelphia suggests that No. 1 pick Ben Simmons may not play this season. The results of a CT scan that Simmons underwent today showed disappointing progress, and the Sixers could resign themselves to finishing the year without him, tweets John Barchard of Sports Radio WIP.

The organization has been very cautious with Simmons since he fractured a bone in his right foot in training camp. The original prognosis had him returning in three months, but it has been nearly five months since the injury and there is still no timetable for him to play.

A story two weeks ago said Simmons was progressing at a slow pace, although the team wasn’t letting him participate in five-on-five drills at least through the All-Star break. The Sixers are 13th in the Eastern Conference at 21-35, so if this latest rumor is true, there seems to be little chance that Simmons will take the court before the season is over.

Sad fact but injuries occur and have stopped many players. Hopefully he will be fine

He needs to play at least 15 games to see if he can really be the future point guard of this team. They need to know whether they should be going out looking for a pass first pg or a guard who can shoot and defend other point guards.

  3. I don’t believe a word coming out of the sixers front office nowadays. Simmons is ready to play, the front office is just not done “processing” yet. All of the moves they have made the past two days have ensured they won’t be good the rest of the season. I get it, and I am still trusting the process, but I am over it as well.

What He/She is saying is that we don’t want an update for Baseball rumors from Barry Melrose.

No he can, but I’d rather hear reports from someone that actually, yah know, covers basketball

Okay if you’ve been following sports fans. He will not play due to Rookie bonuses from Nike. That’s the underlying reason. Look at Durant, this injury is a year recovery at least.

Ball out with Jah and feed him the ball for the remaining what 26 games.

I really would have liked to see Hot-Rod go since he had an expiring deal, but oh well they got rid of Ilysasova and Noel two guys they weren’t resigning anyway.

Pathetic. The NBA needs to change the rules so organizations like the Sixers can’t abuse the system.

What I would do: limited teams to no more than two consecutive years of lottery picks. If you tank more than two years in a row, you can only receive a 1st round pick no higher than 10th.

Why? Flyers keep trying but they’ve been a mediocre team for 10 years. Mediocrity blows. Sixers have the right idea

You do realize that Top 14 picks are Lottery picks? So basically you’d still give them a chance to get a lottery pick, even though you’re trying to punish them for it? Makes sense.
