Less than three weeks after breaking his right thumb, Omri Casspi has received medical clearance to “resume basketball activities,” tweets Marc Stein of ESPN.com.
Casspi suffered the injury in his first game with the Pelicans after being traded from the Kings as part of the DeMarcus Cousins deal. New Orleans waived Casspi to open a roster spot rather than wait for him to heal. Casspi’s original prognosis put his recovery time at four to six weeks.
Now a free agent, Casspi has been contacted by several contending teams, according to Stein, who names the Clippers and Grizzlies among them (Twitter link). Memphis may need to find a replacement for Chandler Parsons, who could be shut down for the rest of the season with a partial meniscus tear in his left knee.
Casspi played just 22 games with Sacramento before the deal, averaging 5.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per night. He missed more than a month in January and February with a strained plantaris tendon in his right calf.

You want the celtics to get him? Celtics are solid and have been plying well beating the top teams and look like a serious contender mainly because they are deep and balanced and share the ball and defend. Bradley, smart, crowder, jaylen brown, jerebko and even Gerald green is a great player to have if needed and they don’t even play him, plus they go with 3 guards a lot like Isaiah, Bradley and smart or roZier as one and then crowder at the power forward, and jaylen brown has been a nice suprise he is smart and can defend and shoot much better than people were guessing. They only have so many minutes, they don’t have room for omri and he isn’t better than any of those guys that play. He would be good insurance if a couple injuries happened.
Clippers are the team that needs him and would give him the best have to play more but idk if he would get a lot clippers like to go 3 guards and their first unit with luc at 3 is top 2 in nba 5 man units only behind warriors. Casspi is better than Wesley Johnson or Paul pierce that’s for sure, they have 8-9m tied up between those 2 guys and it’s a total waste they could have much better options for that money.
