Bucks Interested In Malik Monk

In addition to looking for help at center, the Bucks are reportedly interested in potentially acquiring a shooting guard before next week’s trade deadline.

According to Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times, one possible candidate is Hornets‘ rookie Malik Monk, who has fallen out of Charlotte’s rotation while working to improve his defense and adjust to the NBA game. League sources tell Woelfel that the Bucks have contacted Charlotte about Monk.

Woelfel adds that there is apparently a split in the Hornets’ hierarchy as to whether the team should hold on to Monk or move him. As highlighted before and mentioned above, the 19-year-old Monk has struggled for much of his rookie season, averaging a lowly 5.2 points per game on 33% shooting from the floor.

Perhaps not coincidentally, Monk’s best game of the season came against Milwaukee on November 1, when he poured in 25 points on five of eight from long range.

The Bucks are currently over the salary cap, but possess a $5MM trade exception that was created when they traded Roy Hibbert to Denver last season. The team also has some non-essential players that could be included in trades for salary-matching purposes.

WAY too early to give up on Monk. Unless they got back Jabari Parker or something.

LOVE IT What a steal for the future this would be for the Bucks. Monk has a bright future, there’s no way after taking him out of their rotation that Charlotte would ask for any of the main pieces like Giannis, Jabari, Khris, Bledsoe, Brogden, Henson, or Thon. That leaves Snell, Delly, Vaughn, DJ Wilson, Sterling Brown, Plumlee, Terry…. Maybe Delly for Monk straight up? Rashad Vaughn and DJ Wilson for Monk? Some combination of two of those three? I’d take it, Monk is gonna be a dynamic scorer in this league soon.

A combination of snell , delly or Vaughn wouldn’t be bad maybe throw in a second round pick

Bucks also looking for center help, looking to get bigger and stronger down low. Though I love how he’s improved this year, maybe Henson and Delly for Dwight Howard and Monk? Not sure id want that or not, but maybe that’s why Monk is being discussed?? Just a thought.

Ok and why would Charlotte want Henson and/or Delly? Second, you do realize the Bucks cannot take on that salary? Haha, just a thought.

You do realizes that Henson and Delly combined make almost as much as Dwight Howard right

  4. If Woeful(on purpose) is reporting it, there is absolutely zero percent of this happening. His track record on being right on his predictions is about .005%

Monk is a shooter. That should translate. Sounds like he’s just in a poor system for his skill set …
