After a recent report that his father is exploring finding a new agent, Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball has confirmed he is taking the lead on his career moves, Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times reports.
As we relayed on Friday, Ball, 21, parted ways with longtime agent Harrison Gaines. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that the split between Ball and Gaines was a mutual decision, unrelated to the recent lawsuit filed against Big Baller Brand co-founder Alan Foster.
“Harrison Gaines has been a trusted advisor and close friend for many years,” Ball said in a statement to ESPN. “He guided my NBA career with integrity and always had my best interests at heart.”
Per a report from Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Ball was contacted by several agents to gauge his interest but most steered clear once his father, LaVar Ball, seemed to remain a focal point. Among LaVar’s inquiries included seeing if any agents could have the power to put his three sons – Lonzo, LiAngelo Ball, and LaMelo Ball – on the same NBA team.
However, as Ganguli writes, Ball confirmed that “he alone will make his business decisions” and responded to the notion that his father is involved with a clear “no.”
Ball has not suited up since January 19 due to an ankle ailment, shortening his second consecutive campaign due to injury. However, 2019 remains a noteworthy year for Ball, who was at the forefront of the Anthony Davis trade rumors and is now also in the market for a new shoe deal.

Yes he ruined his sons carees. One went #2 overall. The other one got arrested and wasn’t good enough to be in the NBA in the first place. And the other one who isn’t even 18 yet.
I see no evidence so far that Lavar is calling the shots. Lavar may be running his mouth and claiming that but he does that regardless.
Bear in mind Lonzo would also be interested in his brothers, regardless of Lavar, and the younger one is still a prospect.
Haynes puts the CAA tip, attributed to unnamed “sources”, in the same run-on sentence as he puts that Lavar is meeting with agents. His “source” could have been legitimate with the CAA choice likely, but the info is now attached to Lavar. Clever semantics if Haynes is fronting for Lavar… and he has similar overconfidence.

Cmon his dad is going to cost his children millions and probably a lively for a couple of them. There is a big problem when other people try to mention issues such as the Lakers mentioning that his shoes could be part of injury problems. Ball’s dont want to hear that or listen. Yes cant listen to everyone but cant just listen to daddy and mommy. In the end when all said and done these boys will end up being a bunch of guys that could of been , divorced paying child support unhappy uneducated broke people at 30 years of age with daddy trying to get a reality show . oh wait I also forgot that someday they will be in federal court with a big tax bill cause Daddy used there name but he wont get in trouble because of his sneaky use of his kids .

Gelo just wasn’t good enough and Melo is not even an adult yet. His shoes have not caused the injuries thats such a load. I will totally agree with you yes he is a talent player absolutely and I’m not saying his shoes are the direct reason to his injuries but it wouldnt hurt to check and if they arent then you know. You cant say that the Lakers arent tired of his dads mouth. it does cause unnecessary stress to the organization. Not to mention putting a bullseye on his sons back. Just appreciate your opportunity to play. I got no problem with rocking the boat some but dont sink it
