The Raptors will sit healthy forward Pascal Siakam tonight against the Knicks in favor of Norman Powell to penalize the All-Star, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets. After Siakam fouled out with less than a minute left in Toronto’s 100-93 loss to the Sixers Tuesday, he headed to the locker room early.
Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports tweets that this penalty seems harsh and speculates that there may be hidden depths to the Raptors’ motivation for a healthy scratch.

- The Celtics have tweeted that second-year reserve shooting guard Javonte Green missed yesterday’s game against the Grizzlies due to the league’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
- Knicks off-guard Austin Rivers is set to make his debut for New York tonight against the Raptors after recovering from a groin injury, Marc Berman of the New York Post tweets. Berman notes that Rivers said he has yet to even partake in five-on-five practices with the Knicks yet. The Knicks may have pressed him into service due to the injuries of Dennis Smith Jr. and Immanuel Quickley.
- Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe lists 21 intriguing items that Celtics fans can be on the lookout for in the new calendar year, including the on-court return of point guard Kemba Walker and potential trade deadline roster moves.
What are these “hidden depths”? Anyone know?
If anyone knew, they wouldn’t be so “hidden” they would just be depths.

he didn’t enter the 4th qtr until 7:30 left, then picked up 4 fouls in the next 4 mins., shot 1-3 and looked like he wanted to have the ball more once he did get back into the game.

Using an 8-man rotation during the regular season is just plain dumb.
The Rockets were always worn out by the end of the regular season during the four years he was here. Now they have way more depth than people realize, their bench scoring will almost certainly be the most improved from last season of any team. They can go 9 or 10 deep just as well as anyone.
Anyone? Nets and Lakers have bench guys who would be starters on almost 20 other teams. Rockets have triple injured boggie and cant shoot gordon as 6-7 guys. Rockets’ 9-10 are g-league bad guys.
If Siakam gets mad and wants out, Masai is out. That’s Masai’s crown jewel. Late round pick turned key piece of a championship team. Yes we won a chip boys, eat it. Almost every team in the league would want Masai running their s***
PG and shooting still an issue. Only difference I see so far this yr. We got a real coach. So there will be accountability and progress. PG has to be addressed at some point. Also the shooting. RJ has to get a personal shooting coach 24/7 lol. He’s to good for this to be an issue. This yr is all about progress for young guys. Tonight was a bad shooting night.
On the court yea but I think a lot of the 1st half from the office is getting optimal trade value on Randle – So far so good in that dept
This is a reasonable offer. By reasonable sports guys who know the NBA. It makes sense in a few ways. I also like Simmons and Wall pairing up. Maxey and 2 picks is best they will do. If anything goes down with Harden. It’s gotta be Sixers, Nets, or Warriors. It’s not worth it to anyone else.
