The Warriors announced in a press release (Twitter link) that the official diagnosis for Chriss, whose injury occurred during a practice in Chicago, is a right syndesmosis ankle injury with a fibular fracture. The reserve big man will have surgery to address the injury this week.
Chriss played in the team’s first two games, averaging 6.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in 13.5 minutes. He was a part-time starter last year, but rookie James Wiseman has taken over as Golden State’s starting center.
The 23-year-old will receive his full salary of $1,824,003 and will be a free agent after the end of this season.
Chriss is in his second season with the Warriors after appearing in 59 games last year. A lottery pick in 2016, he was able to revive his career with Golden State after brief stays with the Rockets and Cavaliers during the 2018/19 season.

Don’t think they should. If they use this as another lost year think about 2021-22. You could have Curry, Thompson (hoping and praying he can still play near his old level), Green, Wiseman, their own high pick and the Wolves high pick in a deep draft.
Then add in support guys like Oubre and Pascal. That is potentially a playoff team built for now and potentially in the future.
I just don’t think there’s a championship left in that core. I’m extremely high on wiseman and think we should try to get younger and flexible around him. Send curry where he can compete (Miami for Tyler herro and nunn and picks, Denver mpj and picks) or home to Charlotte. Get a young controllable role player for draymond and maybe hold onto klay id his market is underwhelming see if he can increase his market value. Get some picks down the road and bottom out and use our high pick and Minnesota’s lottery pick to get back into a quick rebuild
If this core takes a Spurs approach and takes lower than market contracts in attempt to compete we might have a chance but curry contract up in 2022 and if we have to pay him 30-40 million a year we ain’t going to be able to build the right type of team. Better to do it early than late

Most of those here have such a low opinion of me as to expect a comment making fun of Marquese Chriss and his unfortunate injury, I’m sorry but that’s not happening. I watched him play for the Rockets and he did not impress, but he has looked way better in Golden State than he did in Houston or in Phoenix. I do sincerely feel bad for him and wish a full recovery by next season.

Looks like Wiseman is getting 30+ mins a game this year, they might actually make the playoffs now. Chriss is great and much needed depth, but what if Wiseman is 19 and totally healthy and ready to go as hard as possible everyday for the next 3 years, let alone just this one? Sounds possible, the guy has flashed nothing but elite skills and has that killer instinct on the court already. You thought Zion was special and a hoops freak? Lol You aint seen nothing yet.

There is no point in a DPE since it is only worth half of Chriss’s salary which is less than a minimum salary.

o’quinn, udoh, dedmon, and henson are decent shot blockers and dedmon is a relatively great 3 and D center. quite an intriguing list u got there. i feel like udoh and dedmon may be a good choice for the warriors cuz they could use a little more three point shooting and rim protecting. u forgot labrissiere good midrange shooter and shot blocker.
Dedmon is in the street bc his shooting fell off a cliff. But I’m still shocked he’s available. Only one that might fit their roster. Faried is still out there too… small ball 5.
JaVale McGee is available under Klay’s DPE – he’s better than a lot of those guys, and feasibly they could acquire both.

da warriors r literally gonna be worse than last year tbh cuz they have no shooters and no rim protectors and wisemen is excellent on offense but idk bout defense. they have a bunch of wings but they’re hardly doing anything. recently they had a chance to grab lin but too bad they had troubles at finding a roster spot avaliable for him and plus they went over da deadline for da clearance which has yet to come lmao. and then signed an undrafted rookie instead but eventually cut him. so now i think da only way for them to crack at least da playoffs is getting a 5 and a shooter if possible via trade

oubre has only scored like 9 points over the two games and rebounds more than that. he was fine in da preseason but he almost looks like tony snell when he was struggling with his three point shooting. da problem is oubre has trouble spacing the floor in order to create shots for himself. well yes green can fix their offensive woes.

He’s only 23 and has played well since coming to Warriors. He looks bigger this yr to me. He’s also filled out looks thicker. Too bad, get healthy come back stronger. Yes Warriors have to sign a center. I would look at Dedmon or Zeller.
