8:19am: Hawks star Trae Young said after Sunday’s game that he will undergo an MRI on his injured right ankle on Monday, as Tim Bontemps of ESPN writes.
Young accidentally stepped on referee Sean Wright’s foot late in the third quarter, turning his ankle in the process. The third-year guard left the game and was diagnosed with an ankle sprain. Although he was able to return to action in the fourth quarter, Young admitted to reporters after the game that the injury was bothering him.
“It’s sore right now,” he said, per Bontemps. “… It’s hurting a little bit and it’s sore. I got some treatment on it. I’m going to go get some more in the morning. That’s all I can do right now, is to get treatment.”
Young wasn’t walking with a noticeable limp after the game and said he’ll “hopefully” be good to go for Game 4 on Tuesday, according to Bontemps.
Still, even if Young is unable to play, it’s possible the injury will slow him down a little, affecting his usual explosiveness. Already in this postseason, we’ve seen a variety of leg injuries limit the effectiveness of guards like James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, and Mike Conley. It would be unfortunate if Young is noticeably bothered by the injury going forward, since the upstart Hawks have been giving the Bucks all they can handle in the Eastern Conference Finals.
After splitting the first two games in Milwaukee, Atlanta had a fourth-quarter lead on Sunday, but wasn’t able to hold onto that lead down the stretch. The Bucks now lead the series by a 2-1 margin.
With a broken ankle this kid is like white lightening, with that being said he gets away with murder on the hardwood. Constantly initiating contact, grabbing defensive player,whining and taunting. Series over in my opinion.

Going against soft teams does help. You’re right. Nets couldn’t play together all season and Trae was fine and healthy while getting blown out by 40 so you can just watch these “bums” win it and like it.

I just don’t think a guy who played as poorly as he did in game 2 should do any of that “look at me, I’m the greatest” garbage for at least the next full game. But whatever I guess.
I’ve been worried he’d go a bit too far in either Tucker or Portis’s face, and they’d clobber him one. Hopefully they maintain their composure whenever the little punk is peacocking the rest of the series.

I owe my sports gambling addict uncle $100 because he bet me Young would hurt his ankle in a must-win game and that that would be the end of the Hawks. Meanwhile, I was thinking it’d be a seven-game slugfest. Young is a cheap shot player and his hair is too annoying for me to ignore. I’ve never seen hair like it.

Every year, there’s always someone who blames it on the refs or injuries.
That’s how the playoffs go more years than not…
It’s not about luck, it’s just about beating the teams you are up against. And most importantly it is about avoiding the injuries yourself. Maybe Giannis is just a little tougher than the rest of these stars. I don’t remember Michael Jordan taking games off in the playoffs due to boo boos and owies. Tape it up and tough it out.
