After the NBA was forced to conduct a virtual draft in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league will be returning to Barclays Center in Brooklyn for its 2021 event.
The NBA confirmed in a press release that the July 29 draft will take place at Barclays Center, with tickets going on sale to the public on Monday, July 19.
In addition to hosting fans at the draft, the NBA will also once again have an in-person Green Room for the event, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic. According to Charania, the league is in the process of sending out those Green Room invites.
The league has made Barclays Center its home base for the draft since the building opened nearly a decade ago. This will be the eighth draft held in the Brooklyn arena.

They need to take the draft on the road. Make it an honor for a city to receive, just like the All Star Game. Maybe make it work like a clock with the ASG. Team A gets ASG in 2022, while team B gets the draft in 2022. 15 or so years later, team A gets the draft and team B get the ASG.
Fans of teams other than the Knicks and Nets deserve a chance to see their future stars picked as well.
It seems to work well for the NFL since they started doing that, so maybe the NBA will follow.

I agree they should take it on road. NBA offices are in NY. And they know in NYC they will get plenty of press and fans. Maybe go to #1 picks City. Like this year it would be in Detroit. I would also support a two day event. 1st rd first day. 2nd rd second day. Could make it an event for the week. Be good for the city.
I thought about that, but that would incentivize tanking even more. Plus, logistically it wouldn’t work as well either. Since the #1 pick is not known until only like a month before the draft, that wouldn’t be enough time to plan the event. Doing it on a rotating schedule could allow for better planning and event scheduling.
