SEPTEMBER 2: The Cavs have made the signing official, per RealGM’s transactions log.
AUGUST 31: The Cavaliers have come to an agreement with free agent center Tacko Fall, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The deal is for one year and is non-guaranteed. The 7’5″ center spent two seasons with the Celtics, averaging 2.7 PPG, 2.6 RPG and 0.9 BPG in just 26 games total. He became something of a cult hero in Boston, with the fans and his teammates alike.
The Cavaliers have 14 roster spots currently taken, albeit just 10 on fully guaranteed deals, so it’s likely this deal is a training camp try-out.
The Cavaliers have no shortage of big men, especially after the sign-and-trade for Lauri Markkanen, but Fall could be a solid insurance policy, given the injury concerns between Markkanen and Kevin Love.

Celtics worked to develop Tacko, very good, but never gave him a real shot in games, not good. Hope he gets a real chance w Cavs!
He cannot guard anyone on the NBA level that is not 7 foot. That is why the Celtics did not give him a shot. If they put him in the game, he is the immediate weak spot on D and he is pick and rolled to death.
Cavs will have the same problem.

The modern NBA center is much more athletic, height isn’t everything.
Some writer from the NE will journey to Cleveland to write Fall’s story and no matter what, it will read sad. But hope is slim regardless.
Celtics had him for how long?? I guess they wanted at least to turn him into a rim protector. Seems like it didn’t happen. Or could Cavs think they can do it. Before they move Allen. Way I see it. Allen plays well. They get a nice return on him. And don’t have to rush Mobley into C action. Allen will bring back a nice return. Hope it works for them. I also like Tako, seems like a good soul.
