The Heat have signed guard Mychal Mulder to a two-way contract and waived Kyle Guy, the team’s PR department tweets.
Mulder has been playing for Miami’s G League squad. He has averaged 17.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 2.7 APG in 10 games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Mulder has 82 games of NBA experience under his belt. He played the last two seasons with Golden State. He saw action in 15 games with the Magic this season, averaging 3.7 PPG in 13.0 MPG. Mulder, 27, was waived by Orlando in early January.
Guy signed a two-way contract with Miami in mid-January. He appeared in 19 games with Miami, averaging 3.9 PPG in 9.8 MPG. He only saw action in eight games over the last two months and didn’t play more than seven minutes in any of those appearances.
Why in the world would they waive Guy, unless he has some type of season-ending injury. He has been playing amazing this year in Miami. Javonte Smart on the other hand, hasn’t.
The truth is out there…
Guy has not been playing amazing. I don’t know where you got this idea that Smart isn’t playing well when he’s averaging well over 20 a game in the G League. Guy had two good games for us and is a decent player but Mulder has the familiarity with the Heat and is a veteran player.
Could have used at least 1 of these 3 guards against Philly, with no Vincent, and then GS without Vincent or Herro
I liked Mulder a couple of years ago, although his skillset has some redundancy in there with Herro. Guy actually did play really well for the Heat when he got good minutes, or before the other guys came back…but Mulder has more NBA experience, has better defensive qualities, and is probably more useful off the ball than Guy
Regardless, would have liked to see 1 of them the last 2 games…All 3 have been balling out for the skyforce lately

And I am clueless as to why they give up a shooter for a 4th string off guard
There number one spot in east about to be gone
As a hard-core fan I’m passed at how pathetic they are playing lately
I hope they get the Nets in the 1st round with a full-time Kyrie.
