The Nets and Jazz were among the teams who left Monday’s draft lottery disappointed, as Brooklyn slipped two spots to No. 8 while Utah, the NBA’s worst team during the 2024/25 season, ended up at No. 6.
Still, while they won’t be picking as high in the lottery as they might like, the Nets and Jazz will enter this year’s draft armed with plenty of ammunition. Brooklyn controls a league-high five 2025 draft picks, including four first-rounders and an early second-rounder. Utah, meanwhile, is one of just two teams (along with the Magic) controlling four picks in this year’s draft, including a pair of first-rounders.
Four other clubs – the Spurs, Hornets, Wizards, and Thunder – own three picks apiece, so those seven teams combine to control 25 of the 59 selections in the 2025 draft.
In addition to those teams with three or more picks, 12 more clubs own a pair of 2025 draft selections, while another 10 control one apiece. That latter group includes the Mavericks, whose No. 1 overall pick is their only selection in this year’s draft.
That leaves just a single NBA team without a draft pick this year: the Nuggets. Denver traded its 2025 first-rounder to Orlando back in 2021 as part of a package for Aaron Gordon in a deal that has worked out exceedingly well for the 2023 champions and sent out its 2025 second-rounder last offseason in a Reggie Jackson salary-dump. The Nuggets could still trade into this draft, but for now they’re the only team on track to sit it out.
To present a clearer picture of which teams are most – and least – stocked with picks for the 2025 NBA draft, we’ve rounded up all 59 selections by team in the space below. Let’s dive in…

BKN should make a trade to grab Dylan Harper at #2 from the Spurs.
BKN: Harrison Barnes + #2
SPURS: Cam Johnson + #27 & #36
Cam Johnson and a few back end picks absolutely does not get the #2 in return
I really don’t see Can Johnson as much of an upgrade if at all over Barnes anyway.
well that’s silly, but it’s still unlikely that SA will trade off the opportunity to grab what many think is an elite talent.
The Nets have so many needs, they should probably keep all 5 picks.
If there’s a pick to move up to, I would target the Spurs pick at 14.
How about:
Nets: Knecht, Barnes and the 14th pick
LAL: Clax
Spurs: Rui, the 19th pick
They’re both solid if unspectacular players. They can both shoot from deep. Cam scores a bit more but he was the 1st or 2nd option most of the season. Cam’s also 3 years younger but Barnes is better on defense and $4.5 million cheaper with a shorter contract.
You must have meant to include pick #8 as well? I still don’t think the Spurs do it, but it could make some sense if they get Knueppel at 8.
They can workout the details, but that’s the framing of the deal. Maybe swap out #27 & #36 for #8 & #19? The Sprus already have a bunch of guards, so adding Harper would be redundant. Cam Johnson would be a great fit next to Wemby. BKN can flip Barnes right after or during the trade deadline.
Drafts now are really about 10 players deep then some sleepers and the rest are pretty much 2nd rounders.
I know this is a Cooper Flag draft but 6-7 years from now I think Harper and Bailey will have had better starts to their careers.
The salary difference & the quality of 2nd & 3rd tier prospects is such that the picks in the low 30s are more valuable than the picks in the 20s, & the top undrafted players more attractive than the picks in the 50s.
It seems to me like a commissioned article to try to clean up the image and lack of credibility of the league after Dallas took the #1 pick with only 1.8% probability and traded their best player in January and the Spurs have taken #1 and #2 picks in the last 3 years.
We publish a version of this post every year.
One can come up with a conspiracy theory as to why every team in every lottery team would get the top pick in any given draft.
Thank you. I love how these people never have a word to say about how exactly it’s done.
I always thought the worst record during the season. Could not fall lower than 4. So for Utah to fall to six is a surprise to me. Even though I’m glad, cause I don’t like Danny or team. Good for them ……
All Nets picks are solid. Even that second rd pick. I would think they might move up for someone they like. I don’t pass on Maluach at 8. Nets do need a PG. i’ve said before Sign Giddey …..
Sixers biggest move would be for Harper. They don’t need a 19 yr old who can’t help for 3-4 yrs. Harper can help as the backup PG. He has NBA size. And can develop there 15-20 mins a game.
Queen is an intriguing pick. Has great size and is ready to start imo. I can see him losing weight, getting in better shape. And just be a beast at PF. He could drop out of top 10. And into Bulls lap. If Raptors pass on him. Raptors should be trying to trade up to NO for Maluach.
All eyes will be on Spurs to see what happens at pick #2. Then to see what Sixers do at 3. I think it’s a good move to trade that pick. For a player now. Preferably a PG or a shooter. Or a PG who can shoot.
This is a deep draft. Tgere are rotation players and future starters at bottom of first rd. Even in second rd. Guys like Wolf and Broome. Two Final 4 players who showed out.
