The Celtics and Trail Blazers have agreed to a trade that will send Jrue Holiday to Portland in exchange for Anfernee Simons and a pair of second-round picks, reports Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).
The second-rounders going to Boston will be the Knicks’ 2030 pick and the Trail Blazers’ own 2031 selection, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (Twitter link).
The move comes less than two years after the teams got together to make a trade sending Holiday from Portland to Boston in October 2023. In that deal, the Blazers – who had just acquired Holiday from the Bucks in the Damian Lillard blockbuster, acquired Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, and two future first-round picks from the Celtics.
Holiday helped the Celtics win a championship in 2024, but had seen his role dialed back significantly since arriving in Boston, having taken a back seat offensively to higher scorers like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and even Sixth Man of the Year Payton Pritchard.
In 2024/25, Holiday averaged just 11.1 points per game, his lowest mark since his rookie year in 2009/10. He also contributed 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals in 30.6 minutes per night, along with a .443/.353/.909 shooting line in 62 outings (all starts).
Given Holiday’s relatively modest role in Boston and a contract that will pay him $32.4MM next season and $104.4MM in total over the next three years, he was considered a strong trade candidate this summer for a Celtics team looking to reduce its payroll.
Boston will do just that in this deal, as Simons is on track to earn approximately $27.7MM in 2025/26, which is the final year of his contract. Although that’s only about $4.7MM less than what Holiday will make, the swap will generate a projected $40MM+ in tax savings for the Celtics, tweets ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Boston is deep in luxury-tax territory and will face more punitive “repeater” taxpayer penalties next season.
The Celtics are still projected to be about $18MM above the second tax apron for ’25/26, per Marks, but they continue to engage in trade discussions involving other players on their roster, sources tell Charania (Twitter link), so more cost-cutting moves are likely coming.
Besides saving some money in the trade, Boston will add a talented 26-year-old guard in Simons, who has averaged 19.9 points and 4.5 assists per game with a .436/.381/.901 shooting line over the past four seasons in Portland since taking on a featured role with the club. Simons should help make up some of the offense the Celtics lost when Tatum went down this spring with an Achilles tear that is expected to sideline him for most or all of next season. Simons will also be eligible to sign a contract extension with the C’s beginning in July.
The Trail Blazers, meanwhile, will bring in a defensive-minded veteran who will help shore up the team’s perimeter defense while serving as a veteran mentor for Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe, two young guards still on their rookie scale contracts. Holiday turned 35 earlier this month and the back end of his contract could become cumbersome, but Portland presumably believes he can help the team take another step forward after it improved from 21 wins in 2023/24 to 36 victories this past season.
Although Simons was the Blazers’ leading scorer last season, the team had a better net rating when he was off the court (-0.2) than when he was on it (-4.6) and went 8-4 in games he didn’t play.
Assuming the trade doesn’t expand to include additional pieces, the Blazers will become hard-capped at the first tax apron for the 2025/26 league year as a result of taking back more salary than they send out in this deal. The team projects to be roughly $6.6MM below the luxury tax line and $14.7MM below the first apron once the move is finalized, notes Keith Smith of Spotrac (Twitter link).
The Kings, Raptors, and Mavericks were among the other teams who had interest in Holiday, tweets Jared Weiss of The Athletic. They’ll have to look elsewhere for point guard help now, as the Blazers intend to hang onto Holiday in the hopes of making a push for a playoff spot next season, per Fischer (Twitter link).
Boston was trying to find a way to shoot more 3 pointers. Fun trade for both teams.
My trade grade
Celtics B
Blazers B
Celtics can send Simons to another team -save more
Blazers can package a player and take another bad contract like George and #3
No way Portland keeps Jrue, would be crazy if they got him twice and never played him. Does he get a jersey number?
Beat reporter says he stays.
I could see them flipping him mid season if they arent looking like a playoff team though.
They aren’t going to be a playoff team. Would be pointless to keep Jrue all season long.
Sometimes I wonder why we even bother to play the games…
Flip for who, most teams don’t take bad contracts 😂😂
He can still be bad salary in a bigger deal…
>!Beat reporter says he stays.
Interesting. I’m surprised because Scoot made a huge leap last year, and Portland looked like they had committed to a young 5 of Scoot, Sharpe, Camara, Avila, and Clingan.
In other words, if Holiday stays, then he either, one, starts and derails the rebuild or, two, comes off the bench at $35M/yr
Avdija*
I don’t think he “derails” the rebuild. He provides some defensive leadership and intensity on a team that wants to take the next step and was clearly a playoff caliber team at the end of the year. And he will need less playing time than Simons would need, so the trade actually opens up an extra 2-5 minutes per night for Scoot.
They were 9-13 the last couple months of the season. With 6 of those wins coming against non playoff teams.
Without a few players including ayton
Beat reporters opinions don’t mean anything.
But somehow Davey J, who probably watched a handful of Blazer games last season, has an opinion that should matter to anyone else but himself.
davey is just being davey
Trade 3-year $97 million for 1-year $28 million
Predictions
will send Simons to another team later
will send Holiday another team later
They will probably keep simons to see his potential since this year is a gap year for the Celtics
He would be like D’Angelo Russell with the warriors in 2019 where if he does well he could get traded for a lot
Time to see which star player Simon’s is besties with.
Staying away from that second apron. KP next?
I bet not…KP ain’t going if I was a betting man, lol. Anyways…I thought Boston were attaching a first according to some on here, lol. Baboom, wrong. Let it rain, young man. Welcome to Boston. Now, see if you can put that 28th pick with Hauser and move up a little. Money saved, gap year and all. Problem solved.
Maybe trade Jaylen brown since he’s getting older and is on maxed out contract? Could they win another title with brown and tatum
@ Mariners fan…No and of course they can, YES.
J.Brown for Giannis…
Dream on
Yeah I dont see why the Celtics trade KP or even Simons they’re expiring contracts is that not what they want going into the next off-season when Tatum comes back
I mean you probably dont want Simons to walk for nothing, and he probably gets a raise on an extension that pays him as much or more than Jrue. He is younger though so a new 4 year deal isnt as detrimental
With all due respect to Simons, he’s not Jrue.
Jrue is a 2 way player, Simons is offensive threat and below average on defense.
If he’s staying, he’ll need to take a pay cut.
But the Celtics still have good options:
1. Trade him now.
2. Wait for Feb and trade him to a team that wants extra offensive power (+expiring contract).
3. Wait until next year and see what’s his value, if it’s too much, they can always sign and trade him.
Kings should take advantage of this great opportunity and trade for Porzingis.
Bring Ben10 to Sacramento, he can be the x factor and regain his all star form, or at least, be a defensive point forward.
Trade Monk for a starting PG, keep Lavine, trade DeMar for KP, keep Murray, and Sabonis at PF.
PG LaVine Simmons Sabonis KP
Fultz Devin Carter Ellis McDermott Murray bench
Trade for Brogdon
Bring back McGee from PR
You have a lot of experience and talent
And from PR… guess who’s back?
DeMarcus C
Get another proven, veteran, and former all NBA and star… Yes, Isaiah Thomas. He also was a King, I recall now.
Fultz I Thomas Brogdon Cousins MCGee,most illustrous NBA bench lineup of all time
If you add cousins back in Sacramento on top of Thomas and Simmons then that would be the worst locker room in the history of locker rooms
Might as well add lance stephenson and amar’e stoudemire to the kings while we are at it
Julian is Sabonis involved?
It amazes me that people still think Simmons can still be a NBA player, given his history.
Get ready for more of this in the coming years. Owners are too scared of the penalties of being a second apron team. Pelicans will be next if they don’t dump Zion sooner than later. These are owner driven trades.
In the NBA, I thought the salaries had to match?
The opposite.
I believe the yearly salaries have to fall within a certain percentage of each other.
The Celtics could not make the trade if they were taking in more of what they send out since they were in the 2nd apron. In this case, they took on a bit less money in Simons contract versus Holidays.
Boston is cutting salary in this trade and salaries only have to be close when the teams are over the soft cap; and even then you’re allowed to take back I think 125% of what you send out (e.g. if you send out $20mm you can take back up to $25mm) in a trade unless you’re over the second luxury tax line. Boston cuts cap so straight forward for them while Portland isn’t over the 2nd tax line and the difference between Simons and Holiday’s salaries keep the deal cap compliant.
Taking back more than you send caps you at the first apron. After the second you cant aggregate anymore.
Yeah I knew about the aggregate after the second apron. Didn’t know about the hard cap at the first apron if you take back more salary. But pretty sure if the deal is leaving you over the cap there’s still a % limit that you can take back based on what you’re sending. Think its 125% but that might’ve been changed with the new cap aprons.
Those were the old rules. Not the case anymore.
If your over the cap and below the apron you can take 125% if your over the apron you can take 100% if your over the second apron you cant take 100% but can only send out one player, you can however take back multiple players as long as they total less than 100%.
It’s definitely not that straightforward
Why does Portland make this trade ? For real ?
They’ll pass him on for more assets. Jrue didn’t want to stay in Portland 2 yrs ago.
That’s what I’m wondering. Veteran leadership in the locker room? Simons is a nice young player. Maybe they don’t see him fitting with scoot and Sharpe?
>! Why does Portland make this trade ? For real ?
I’m baffled also. Simons had a bad contract. Holiday’s is much worse, and will hold the Blazers back in 2026-27 and 2027-28, when they should be competitive again.
Holiday won’t play much because Blazers are committed to Scott and Sharpe.
@ Aristotle, yeah you spent a lot of time explaining how this couldn’t happen.
> you spent a lot of time explaining how this couldn’t happen.
Provably false, and the receipts are below.
This trade was a “my problem for your problem”, as predicted by multiple HoopsRumors articles. It’s about dumping Holiday’s salary, not improving the roster.
All the HoopsRumors articles, which you argued against, said Holiday could not be exchanged for a positive asset because of his age and overvalued contract… so that trading Holliday would require either sweetening with a FRP or taking back a negative asset. That’s exactly what happened.
Anfernee Simons is an expiring contract and a negative asset. At $26M/yr, he makes at least $10M/yr more than he’s worth. Portland has been trying to dump him since last summer.
Simons won’t be with the Celtics in 2026-27, and will likely be dumped long before them.

@aristotle – Celtics “expert”
Of course you dont understand that they are able to save money like what the article has said.
They’re going to flip Jrue I think
DaveyJ, I agree, Portland must have a taker for Jrue.
Did you even read the article? Portland is a worse team with Simons in the court. They would’ve just waived him but they got someone that actually plays defense who at the least can be a Haslem type teammate. If he washes, they still don’t have to okay a net -4pt player.
I think he stays and plays a Mike Conley-like role with Ant. At least until mid-season.
Agreed. Don’t understand why Portland would want to trade for a 35 year old player with three more guaranteed years at $32, $35 and $37 million to go. Portland has an excellent rebuild going. Why this?
Paying the tax while rebuilding, priceless…
My prediction for this summer – the most trades ever
20 huge trades
50 tiny trades
It’s confirmed. Joe Cronin is a CELTICS crony ……. Brad Stevens probably has some dirt on this guy or has a copy of his browsing history.
@mike.honco , can you explain what Cronin is doing with all these unmovable long-term contracts?
Jerami Grant at $30M and Holiday both have 3 more years. That’s $65M of wasted payroll that’ll keep this franchise stuck
Bizarre.
He’s be a complete fool if he kept Jrue, so there’s likely a Jrue trade on standby ……. that Grant contract might have been new-GM-has-to-make-a-move syndrome, but it was a mind boggling mistake nonetheless.
One more thing, Cronin’s giving the keys of the team to one Shaedon Sharpe? …… BLAZERS started the tankathon on Day 1 !
They have messaged theyre keeping Jrue. The Grant thing I felt was a last ditch effort to get Dame to stay. Like I think they may have agreed in principal before Dame asked out since everyone negotiates early, and then they felt they had to honor the deal.
The first year they could have gotten something for Grant, but now its such dead money.
Aristotle…you’ve already said Boston couldn’t move off Jrue without attaching a first round pick. Stick to the Warriors. Speaking of. Give Portland a ring mate. Kuminga and Podz, bye bye. Lol. Get jrue, now that would be ironic.
@Nrg82
Every single time, aristotle talks from his behind, just like his best buddy here in Hoopsrumors Davey J. But if either Holiday or Simons somehow makes a way to the Dubs, see them rain them with praise as if they were the goat like how they did with Butler before he decided not to become Playoff Jimmy and instead became Layoff Butler.
Skirk. Well yeah. I mean Kuminga is future multiple time all star. If I remember correctly I’m pretty sure majority of warriors fans here wanted to keep Wiggins for some strange reason over Jimmy.
Simons didn’t have more value than this ? To a team that can use him? Or is Boston trying to win/tread water with this move?
I thought a lot of teams could use a secondary creator like Simons.
Additionally, why does Jrue have any value that he returned any picks, let alone 2?
Simons is a short scoring guard. Who wants to get paid. He just doesn’t fit with most teams. He should do ok next to White. I doubt Celtics keep him. He’s an expiring contract.
Holiday is a future HOFer. You really need an explanation. He can help a young team. Like CP3 did Suns …… he’s worth it to Blazers.
Simons is one of the worst defenders in the league. And kind of a gunner and ball hog on offense, though gifted. I’m not sure how he fits on the Celtics at all, but I guess expiring big contract so they can turn him into some other stuff (or maybe just trade him to the Nets and get out of all the aprons).
Coach Mazulla game plan for next season…
Shoot more 3’s…
Aristotle, Haha, simmons is terrible now, and Boston is a lottery team, lols. That’s not entirely a bad idea, though. You’re one rolled ankle from a complete tear down in San Fran pal.
MJ said it best ‘You’re never guaranteed to get back to the top quick.’ Have fun with that. Back to the Lakers you go.
And break that record of 45 misses.
Jrue is old. Boston are on a gap year and saving some to go again. What’s the problem? We live in an age where guys can’t just sign as free agents. Brad Stevens is his name, lol. We’ll be fine in the long run. I’m all tears inside knowing how much other fan bases are concerned about Boston.
Simons is a really bad player. Chauncey was pressured into starting him because Simons had been given a huge extension.
But, by the end of this past season it was clear Chauncey didn’t want him on the team.
I can’t see Boston keeping him unless they want to be a lottery team.
the Celtics moved off Jrue and got two picks which you said they couldnt do, So, I’m not sure if this is the thread to flex your basketball acumen.
Maybe Prichard moves into the starting lineup and Simons becomes the 6th man? Yeah not sure of the fit, but still good value in the trade. Maybe they stay in the 2nd apron and have a fun season? With simons and Porzingis they have $56 mil coming off the books next summer if they want.
HEY, When I saw this trade initially at a glance, I thought Celtics were sending 2 #2 draft picks to Portland to get rid of Holiday 3 year deal. WOW, great work Celtics front office. Actually, Simons will fit in well with the Celtics, they can use his scoring with Tatum out… they may actually extend him next off season… He fits in well with C’s run and gun offense. They’ll cover for him in D. HEY, will they keep Porzingis? I think they do?… EAST is wide open…. they’ll get rid of Hauser… ….
Basketball wise, it’s a good move for the CELTICS ….. Brad Stevens trying to salvage a potentially lost year (next season) for the CELTICS.
Jrue has slowed down a lot …… for all of his defensive flaws, Simons is approaching his peak and can approximate some of the scoring that JT provides ……. these CELTICS are still likely to get a top 6 playoff spot.
No Dame, no Hali, uncertainty on Giannis/Garland/Allen, it’s a wide open East next season …… once again, a great move by Brad Stevens.
LOL. So much for Holiday having negative value. Never thought he did, but I am abit surprised that it’s POR going after him.
I dont know if people thought he had negative value. It was more that you would have to attach assets to just straight dump his money and take none back. Since it was about financial savings people assumed they wouldnt trade him if it only saved 4M.
It’s hard to trade anybody and take nothing back. The opinions I read were not limited to that, but certainly and expressly encompassed BOS having to attach assets to JH’s contract in order to obtain any expiring money for it. Anyway, those views were laughable then and now, so I won’t belabor it.
For this deal, I would put the overall savings at over 75 mm due to the out years on JH’s contract. Even for this year, though, Simons’ expiring deal can be moved again, and the guy(s) they get for him can be subsequently moved at least one more time, all before the deadline. With TPEs and only % matching, they can get rid of most of his 27 mm this year. In short, I think Stevens, right now, is figuring he’ll likely have a choice to get rid of the 27 mm if the season unfolds in a way where that makes sense.
I mean people talked about Boston ditching deals to get under the 2nd apron at least and maybe out of the tax. Since they would need to send out a big deal and take almost nothing back to accomplish that people put 2 and 2 together.
Its easy to take nothing back if you just straight pay ATL or BRK to take one into space or the TPE, but that would probably cost you an asset or two to pull off.
Its only savings if they dont extend Simons or trade him for another player who stays.
Nobody but ATL has a big enough TPE to take Simons into, and you only save the prorated amount if you deal him mid year on the tax. Not even sure ATL does, it may be just below that, and BRK wont have cap room by then. You really cant dump salary mid season if its over the MLE that teams will still have. So you probably cant cut the money once AUG comes around in a meaningful way you could only deal him to a below the apron team for a slightly cheaper player making roughly 75% his salary. If those happened to be multiple players who were cheaper you could then pay teams to take them into exceptions, but it gets really complicated really quick.
Chap – No pro rated in NBA , that’s MLB and Nfl …
Nba takes it audit at the end the year , Boston basically has till the trade deadline ends next year to get under any bar they want to for the 25/26 season
The point is that if you keep him until the deadline you pay him for the time he is on your roster. That means that if you deal him at mid season, even if its into room, you dont save the full salary just whatever is remaining.
I was trying to explain that because he had said that they could just dump his money mid season if they still wanted to cut costs, and that doesnt work.
Chap – What you said is correct but doesn’t mean they can’t get most or even all of that 27 mm off the books by the deadline by breaking it up in 60 day increments and trading the pieces each time; IF that’s the motivation. There are far more TPE’s and multi-team trade $$ umbrella’s that can result smaller contracts being sent elsewhere with very little to nothing coming back.
Yeah I would bet all the money in the world they cant do that. Like thats some 2k GM stuff where every team says yes. You may only have 1 or 2 teams interested in Simons who will be limited to the contracts they have. In season there wont be more than 14M MLEs available most likely as TPE.
Most of the time you would get back a player making over the TPE in a deal for Simons and then your in the same boat. They would be very hard pressed to shed any of the salary if they go into the season with him
Simons is an even larger neg. value player. The guy is *worse* than Blazers team rating. Think about that.
He’s a very flawed player, but he’s got an expiring deal, and is not useless. So, NO, his contract is not a negative contract.
Oh snap my bad….thank you very much Mr Jrue Holiday. Once a title winning Celtic, always a title winning Celtic and no doubt not paying for anything in that city ever again. Thank you, wish we had him a little sooner. Good luck going forward.
Wow, according to aristotle, by grabbing two 2nd rounders, the Celtics are poised to be hoisting the Larry O’Brien next year. I mean, they’re worth so much!
You mean, aristotle – Celtics “expert”
Not sure he stays in Portland tbh. But I was having doubts that Scoot pans out.
I just don’t get when a contender. Starts dumping salaries. It’s a new day, I guess.
Simons is actually a good fit with White. Plus he’s a shooter scorer. Simons is in an expiring contract. I guess this means Celtics keep their picks. Two solid picks they are.
Jrue can help their young backcourt. He is valuable for that. And if they want to make a playoff run next year. He is also a big trade chip come Feb TD. Works for both teams……. Its nuts now. Trades with the cap situation has changed forever now.
C’s D just took a HUGE step back though. From one of the best defensive guards in the NBA to one of the most disinterested.
Boston ain’t a contender , til tatum returns
Jrue going to get moved to another team that feels they were a piece away.
Great deal for Boston on the ledger, they can get really really clean 365 days from now
I’d be hoping management is willing to bite the bullet next year and try and retain Kornet now on a multi year
Kornet had a nice year, and he’ll probably get more than minimum contract.
I think it would be a good move to not retain him, I prefer Queta.
What? Mid level, Kornet.
Oh yes! Celts need to keep Luke Kornet! He’ll be a perfect Celtic for years to come. I think Brad Stevens sees this and wants to keep Luke And I think Hauser stays too. And Al.
I will certainly give Anfernee Simons a shot. Well, if Stevens keeps him. No one can be as bad as everyone is making him out to be. A couple years back I even heard talk about Jaylen Brown for Anfernee Simons. Now he’s trash? Give him a change.
This has more to do with money than talent. Simons should have a decent year in Boston (unless he’s flipped again) and they can sign & trade him. If he doesn’t they can let him walk but still wouldn’t be on the hook for Jrue’s contract. It’s a long offseason boys and it’s just getting started.
Wtf is Portland doing, Holiday is washed
Nice trade for both teams. Portland Trail Blazers get a two time NBA champion that will bring championship pedigree and veteran leadership to this team and still very solid defense. It’s what they need and I think he will help get the most out of Jerami Grant.
Boston Celtics get a nice scoring guard in Anfernee Simons and they able to save $40 million in tax.
POR just got fleeced, right?
They send the best player by far and still add picks to take an old over the hill and overpaid guard… what a joke, right?
Is Nico advising POR?!?!?
Boston making dumb decisions. Horrible trade. Thanks for nothing Jrue
Portland flipping Jrue for Austin Reeves?
So brutal. “We are better when he’s not on the court.” That’s some terrible defensive effort I guess.
Boston was better last year when Jrue wasn’t on the court – his on/off number last year was -1.7. So Boston went from a slightly negative guy whose shooting has been poor but plays great D to a guy who is a little more negative who plays no D and shoots a lot. Ergo the two second round picks to even things out.
Shooting poor? Look at his stats again! He just took half his normal shots playing with ball dominant Jaylen and Jason.
Jrue Holiday and Rob Williams for Jalen Green and Cody Martin??
Suns get back Holiday to pair with Booker, Brooks at SF and then Rob Williams to compete with Nick Richards as your centre. Leaving the 10th overall pick to be a PF to complete the roster. Beal brought out or sixth man? Regardless Grayson Allen and Ryan Dunn still remain aswell.
As for the Blazers maybe they value Green as a great pairing with Scoot. I personally don’t but I hardly ever agree with the blazers moves.
Or what about as a sign and trade player for a Kuminga deal?
Warriors get Jrue Holiday or DeAndre Ayton take your pick. Curry Holiday Butler Green Post or Curry Heild Butler Green Ayton. Two very good but expensive looking sides…
Jru has been disrespected. The blazers? Really!
Billups finally got the point guard he has always wanted as a coach. Too bad the point guard is 35 years old and on his last legs.
So, just weeks ago, folks here were proclaiming that “Holiday’s contract is unmovable, the Celtics will need to sweeten the deal”. And were receiving many upvotes for those takes.
And now Boston gets value for him, an expiring contract and some picks. So much for “need to sweeten the deal”. If anything, Boston could have gotten more, IMO. A smaller contract, perhaps. Maybe Boston wanted Simmons and have plans for him.
A note to self: disregard people posting “that’s such a bad contract, this player N is never worth it, the only way his team can move him on is by sweetening the deal”. Folks are getting weird satisfaction in identifying “the worst contracts in the NBA”, they probably would love to run Youtube channels and make those types of dumb videos every 2 months. That would make them feel clever.
artete18 posted this about Holiday 2 weeks ago, and got 5 upvotes for it:
“Ya, I think it’s massively negative. What contract out there is worse? Beale’s is bad but it’s got only 2 years left and Beal is 4 years younger. Maybe the worst contract in the NBA right now.”
They need scoring. Losing Jrue, and the. Theoretically KP and Hauser? That’s 40ppg not including Tatum being down for the year. Simmons will close the gaps.
Porzingis will likely stay until the trade deadline. Horford might leave, and Kornet, depending on how much somebody else offers him. Hornet openly said he likes it in Boston, and might take less money to stay there, but a big enough offer will persuade him. Hauser is likely to leave in the summer.
But yes, I think you’re right. They must like the fit with Simmons, considering their squad changes for the next season.
I still think they Move KP sooner but I can definitely see them waiting until the trade deadline to maximize their return for him. His value is low after his abismal playoffs. And I think Horford stays or retires.
No, it was obvious that Jrue would be traded.
KP is next. Speculation is that the Nets could be involved in KP for draft assets.
Danny Ainges Ghost is still making Deals for Boston.
They needed to get rid of the contract and got a decent player AND draft picks?
The Blazers need to have an even bester trade with Holiday in the Pipeline. Or fire the GM.
Brad Stevens has made some great trades. Not sure they need Danny Ainge’s ghost.
Brad gets a lot of hate now, just like Ainge used to. It happens when you’re at the top of your game.
And people were saying trading Jrue was going to be hard? LOL Simmons will have a career year next year and be traded at the deadline for more assets. KP you’re up next.
Now close the circle and trade him back to Milwaukee. They haven’t been the same team defensively since he left, and he has two rings with two different teams.
That would be hilarious. I hope it happens.
AS USUAL, the Kings sit back and do Nothing, while everyone else are making Trades and getting better !!
Kangs ganna kang
Jrue has the opportunity to show he can lead a playoff team. Brad Stevens proved again he is the man. Brad will get us under the second apron.
Again, while everyone is talking about complex multi-team situations, a simple logical swap occurs. This makes plenty of sense from both sides. Both players were known to be very available. And it’s clear that the Blazers are pushing chips in for a deep playoff run.
Agreed. This team is done “rebuilding.” The best option is to make a playoff run with the vets they have, build value, and then look to consolidate when other $50m a year stars become available.
Blazers: Clax, Whitehead & 19th pick
Nets: Ayton, 11th pick
?
I still believe in Ayton. I want to see him be successful.
Hope my C’s expand it.
Nets: Hauser and the two seconds in this deal
Hornets: Simons
Blazers: Holiday
Celtics: Nurkic and Okogie.
Addition of Nurkic allows us to either shop Porzingis or let Kornet walk.
Okogie can be flipped and wing depth can be added via the draft.
Bring back big Al with the savings.
I don’t like this at all. Nurk and okogie are both in charlotte because they are not contributors. Throw in a first or two to C’s and maybe there is a deal.
Nurkic is in Charlotte because he didn’t gel in PHX (nobody did), and he forced his way out. I said we should flip Okogie and get his salary off the books. Having a guy like Nurkic behind injury prone Porzingis,if we keep him, would give us valuable depth and also help keep Big Al fresh.
Why would I want Nurkic v. Kornet.
Kornet is a much better fit for the Celtics and Brad knows it.
No thanks to this whole thing. Let Brad do his job.
Thank you!
Thank you for last season, Jrue! a true champion!
and many thank yous to the Blazers for trading him to the Celtics, and taking him back from the Celtics.
