After missing the past three games with finger and leg injuries, Lakers superstar Luka Doncic has been listed as questionable for Friday’s matchup at Memphis, as Khobi Price of The Southern California News Group relays.
It has been five days since the Lakers stated that the Slovenian guard would be reevaluated in about a week, though Price notes the actual left finger sprain occurred a week ago vs. Minnesota. Head coach JJ Redick said ahead of Wednesday’s win that the swelling in Doncic’s finger had subsided somewhat.
Free agent addition Marcus Smart, who has missed the past two games with a quadriceps contusion, is also questionable for Friday’s contest, Price adds.
Here are some more injury-related notes from around the NBA:
- Superstar Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was a surprise scratch on Thursday against Golden State after being listed as probable in the lead-up to the game, notes Jamal Collier of ESPN. Despite being down their best player, the Bucks defeated the Warriors behind a career night from guard Ryan Rollins, who finished with 32 points (on 13-of-21 shooting), eight assists and five rebounds, tweets Eric Nehm of The Athletic. As ESPN’s Anthony Slater notes (via Twitter), it was a revenge game of sorts for Rollins, who was drafted by and later traded by Golden State. The former second-round pick had a big game on Tuesday as well, recording 25 points (on 8-of-11 shooting), four assists and four steals in 26 minutes.
- Star point guard Trae Young will be sidelined for Friday’s game in Indiana due to a right knee sprain, the Hawks announced (via Twitter). Young was reportedly scheduled to undergo an MRI today after he exited Wednesday’s game with the injury, which occurred late in the first quarter when a teammate was pushed and fell into his knee (Twitter video link).
- Thunder big man Chet Holmgren was off to an excellent start this season before lower back soreness sidelined him for both Tuesday’s win vs. Sacramento and Thursday’s victory over Washington. Head coach Mark Daigneault said there are no long-term concerns with Holmgren’s back issue, per Jeff Patterson and Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman (subscriber link). “He’s where he should be,” Daigneault said before Thursday’s game. “We’re being conservative with him. If he was, obviously, perfect he would play tonight. But we’ll go through the process that we always go through.”
- After missing the past two games with a sore back, Clippers guard Bradley Beal will be active for Friday’s contest vs. New Orleans, tweets Law Murray of The Athletic. Beal opened the season on a minutes restriction due to offseason knee surgery.
- Although Jared McCain (thumb surgery) and Paul George (knee surgery) participated in the Sixers‘ practice on Thursday, both players will remain sidelined for Friday’s matchup against Boston, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN (Twitter link). In case you missed it, the 76ers picked up McCain’s third-year option on Thursday.
Warriors lost simply because Kerr played Podz and Horford over Moody and Post.
Wouldn’t go that far, Cole Anthony, Ryan Rollins, AJ Green and Myles Turner were making some big shots. GSW’s interior defence was nonexistent and they struggled to shoot the 3 in the first quarter. Wouldn’t put all the blame on Kerr
@Simmons>Russ If moron Kerr played Moody with his superior defense, none of those guys get those shots off. Maybe Moody was hurt. Post also is playing better with the vets but dummy Kerr played Horford, who is in a shooting slump right now.
If you didn’t know before the game Moody was questionable with a sore thumb. that is why his shot was off and Kerr didn’t use him that much.
I knew he was questionable, but why play him at all if he’s injured?
Warriors weren’t going to go undefeated the rest of the way. Bucks have a top 5 player with a decent team it’s not a shock they won. Two good teams playing one has to loss that simple
Which to player is that, Rollins ….. lmao
@Otto
Just FYI, Giannis was a late scratch, so this was a disappointing loss.
Unfortunately Kerr game plan which included Giannis which they practice on threw a wrench in the machine. Funny how the warrior haters are making a big deal of 1 loss.
With the tough schedule the next 3 weeks, any loss is going to matter. This one was certainly ref enhanced, 3 Kuminga TOs from bad calls/nocalls happened at critical times.
James Williams and ray Acosta are consistently awful at their jobs.
its the NBA where money bet on games makes a difference. Playing the most games in the first 10 days is the NBA only caring about ratings. Before the season started I saw how tough teh schedule was and thought if they can stay .500 in the first 10 games they did good. They need to focus next 3 games all are against teams they can beat.
Hopefully the Pacers being so short handed will help, and the Suns and Kings are bad. I doubt we win in Denver and then we host the Pacers, so I’m looking for winning 4 out of the next 5 which would get us to 8-3.
But then the 6 game road trip from hell, starting with the B2B @ OKC and Spurs, a day off and the Spurs again and ending with the B2B @ Magic and @ Heat. We could easily go 1-5 on that trip if we can beat the Pelicans, which would make 9-8 after 17 games.
NBA does these bad schedules for 1 reason TV viewership. They know the warriors get good ratings. That is why they are on national TV.
No Warriors fans like always make a big deal of everything. It was a bad loss. arc seriously lol. Why do you always make excuses. You can’t win all the time. Kerr game plan. FIThat. You saying he’s so stupid he didn’t know what to do when Giannis didn’t show up. Lmao lol …..
Warriors are a playoff team. They need to be peaking at end of season. All about learning and coming together for first half of season.
There you go knicker changing subjects. i am talking about the schedule and how hard the schedule is in the first few weeks. Why are you so obsessed with me you try changing subjects? What excuse am I making? i said when I looked at the schedule their first 10 teams were tough and it would be good to just win half of them. So how is that an excuse? Only 2 teams they beat were teams with lots of injuries. Stay in your lane.
@Davey J
Lol, neither of them made a shot, 0 pts combined. Horford so far has been underwhelming, no question.
They lost because the bench gave up a 10-0 run at the end if the 1st Q and it took a lot of energy to briefly take the lead.
They had 22 TOs (although several were due to the poor officiating) and couldn’t stop Rollins from doing whatever he wanted.
Next up, another game they should win against a desperate winless Pacers team who will be on the B2B after hosting the Hawks tonight. Hopefully they don’t end up with McClung having a big revenge game like Rollins did!
It has to be tough to gameplan for Giannis and then adjust at the last minute.
I truly believe Moody is the SG Steph needs, Podz is not a great scorer, he cant play off-ball, is really inconsistent, misses so many open shots and defensively he doesn’t really understand the Warriors style of defense, which he is also undersized for. He is there to grab rebounds as an undersized guy, which can work if his placement is correct. Moody all-round is the better player, yet Kerr LOVES one guy and seems totally out to lunch on the other.
Bucks have such a good bench. 3 guys in double figures, GS can’t come anywhere close to that.
The hate flows all over by big d
The hate flows all over arc89
explain that d?
If you’re saying I’m hating GSW because I’m complimenting the Bucks, then that means you’re hating on the Bucks. There’s always two sides in a competition
Now that is funny…
Bucks have such a good bench. 3 guys in double figures, GS can’t come anywhere close to that. Trying to claim you didn’t put down teh warriors is funny… Next up big D claims he is dating a super model
I never claimed I didn’t mention the warriors, that’s just your delusion.
And of course I mentioned them, that’s who they were playing. I’m not going to mention a team they didn’t just play, what would be the logic in that?
@SteveAdams this “Big D” clown is still not banned? How? This is breaking TOS by ragebaiting Warriors fans by lying. Moody has a 30 point game under his belt ffs
calm down Davey. The guy wants to get warrior fans angry that is his goal. He is just a hater and nothing more. He is very immature and has no life to be doing that. i call him out and he runs.
Nah, all I’m doing is giving the Bucks props. Anything else is a delusion
I guess the Warriors do need Giannis…… one day lols
Cause Bucks don’t need him to beat Warriors.
So now you say the warriors are terrible. Got it. Your hate for teh warriors make me laugh.
arc tell us how you really feel ——. And how much I have taught you lol … didn’t believe me about Jimmy

Noooooo! Wiggins is the Warriors second best player.

Bigger problem is who on the team plays defense? Wiggins was their best defender besides Green. Now there is no defense to stop the other team’s best defender.
Was Wiggins not their second best defender at that time? YES Funny how you are obsessed with my comments to go back almost 10 months and still can’t prove I am wrong. LMAO
Wiggins was the second best player on the warriors last year at that time. Who was better at the time?
Is 4-2 better than 2-2?
Next up for the Knicks, favored on the road vs the undefeated Bulls.
Uh oh…
Another wagoneer ….. what do Knicks have to do with Warriors….. the day they play. You come tell me all about it. Till then go ask Davey J where to buy a Curry Doll ……. And tell us all how much Kuminga sucks.
Why are you as a Knicks fan calling Warriors fans bandwagoners? That’s our job. Knock it off. We can handle the bandwagon types.
What about all the Knicks bandwagoners who think Brunson is like 10x better than he actually is on here 24-7? Go police your own people.
You can criticize Knicks fans all you want. As long as you get it right. Every team has their different class of fans. I respond only to ones who talk out both sides of their mouth. Like trashing Kuminga and now loving him. Like trashing Jimmy a d now loving him. None of us get it right all the time. Biggest crybabies and flip floppers on HR are Warriors fans. All you have to do is read their posts. Thats what wagoneers do. Only fans cause they won. Now the rough times bring out the real emotions. I got so much bull for backing Kuminga for yrs. Now they are all on Kuminga bandwagon lol. What would you call that.
When a knick fans come to knock down the warriors is the answer to your question.
No one is bashing the Warriors lol. Just how you act at times. I criticize my own team all the time. I don’t hate like the crybabies do. Have you looked up hating yet. Thats not what real fans do.
Like you avoiding the Kuminga statement now.
Most of you need to grow up. It’s not about winning. Its about playing the game. Cause that prepares you to win. Playing and growing makes you a good team.
The chips are the celebration of the journey. Its the journey that is most relevant. When you understand that. You will respect and understand this game.
yawn… You are annoying and nobody is crying here. So go home curl up in you knicks 1973 championship blanket and dream about the past wow its been over 50 years no wonder you are bitter.
I think Warriors lack of size & athleticism were the reasons they lost. Portis can easily score and who’s guarding him down low? Payton, jr?
Or maybe they underestimated the bucks?
Funny thing Portis was the warriors #1 guy they went after in the off season and even tried a sign and trade with bucks for him.
