Moses Moody will miss the final three games of the Warriors‘ preseason due to a left calf injury, reports ESPN’s Anthony Slater (via Twitter).
According to head Steve Kerr, the Warriors are “not too concerned” about the injury, which occurred in practice. Slater adds that the team is hopeful that Moody can return in time for the season opener.
Moody started both of the Warriors’ preseason games to this point, averaging 14.5 points and 1.0 steal per contest while hitting seven of his 12 three-point attempts.
After years of being in and out of the Warriors’ rotation, Moody seems to have finally carved out a role for himself as a floor spacer and versatile wing defender in Kerr’s main rotation. If he were to miss time to open the season, it could open the door for Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield to earn extra minutes.
Right when he looked primed for a true breakout season…I will say this, as much as I love his game, profile and overall potential, Moses Moody sure is injury prone.
I do comp him to Kawhi pretty often, I see “something in the realm of Kawhi” as Moody’s highest ceiling, like, his best season could be on that level. If he can stop being injured. Much like Kawhi.
Every time he starts looking like he is ready to take it to the next level he gets hurt.
Just a strained calf. I think he’ll be fine. The life of a professional athlete involves setbacks from time to time.
It’s a bit strange how we’re making excuses for Moody’s late season and playoff performance on the basis of a post-season procedure.
First, if injury limits a player to the extent people suggest Moody was, he shouldn’t have been playing. Everybody’s banged up late in the season. For example, Podz had multiple post-season procedures. Other Warriors players also had minor procedures. Why are we making excuses only for Moody?
Second, Moody has *always* been streaky through his career. He was hot in March, during same stretch he was supposedly hurt. Moody finished the season shooting his usual, career 37%. That seems like a reasonable expectation for this season also, and there will be ups and downs.
@GaryRSW
Calf strains can linger – I hope you’re right.
Yes, absolutely. Hopefully it’s more like a cramp that was uncomfortable instead of literally a strain.
But yes, I agree. At least it wasn’t the hamstring, which could put a guy out a month.., but I guess a calf can do the same so yes fingers crossed.
KD’s achilles tear started out as a calf strain…
Moses Moody Postseason Stats – NBA | FOX Sports
In the 2025 NBA playoffs, Moses Moody averaged 16 mins, 7.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 12 games.
Yeah if next level is Rotation player.
Seriously. You spent months trashing everyone who had one criticism of Kuminga. Now you feel it is ok for you to trash anyone. What a hypocrite. He played 3 months with a torn ligament in his shooting hand. It was painful for him to shoot. Gawd. How pathetic.
I never spent time trashing anyone.. only you and Warriors fans did the trashing of Kuminga.
Get it right !!!!
I said you are all crybabies for trashing him.
And now You are defending Moody cause I said he was a rotation player. Sounds like more crying to me. What is he like the next Poole !!!!!
For months, you went on and on about how the Warriors had to dump their offense, that had sent them to six finals, and four rings, and install Kuminga as their #1 offensive threat. You kept crying about how Kuminga is the Second Coming. You kept lashing out at people who said he needs to look learn to work with in the offense.
Moody learned work within the offense and started have some success before he got injured. He gritted it out for the team. Why can’t you give him some credit for that?
Moody is definitely not like Poole.
Damn bro you keep receipts on here?
I’m the one with receipts. Cause too many posters here lie. And argue both sides of the argument. Like he is doing here.
I just think it’s odd they posted saying you said something months ago. I don’t even remember what I say on the boards weeks ago haha I just post for fun and don’t remember every reply.
Make up all you want. I don’t care if Warriors win or lose. I don’t care if they win the title. I only posted about Kuminga and the crybabies.
I just said Moody was a rotation player. Thats a problem for you lmao ….. you drunk lol
Poole was the next Curry for a time for Warrior fans on here. So what is exactly your fascination with Moody. More than a ROTATION player ????
That makes him the next Poole —- who is a 1way player but does put up 17-18 a game. The kleenex are on tgeir way DoorDash
If you don’t care about the Warriors, then why did you keep spending months whining and crying about how Kuminga is a victim. You kept saying that should be the Warriors #1 scorer.
Moody is nothing like Poole. Moody just goes about his business working hard and contributing. Poole said was “legendary” after one good season. How can you confuse the two?
Calling out Warriors fans tor their trashing of Kuminga. Is only posting the truth. Making fun of Warriors fans incessant whining and crying about Kumingas status. Was entertaining a bit. Considering how all you have jumped on the bandwagon. I’m sure there is much more Kuminga drama to come. You can be sure I will be watching.
So why are you avoiding the question. Is Moody going to be the guy to watch this year. Cause him starting or even playing more than 20 mins. Is a step up for him. Or did you miss All of last year.
There you go again. JK is such a delicate little flower. We are all such meanies. You can never have criticisms about him. He is such the perfect little child.
I guess you missed all of last year. Moody played well over 20 minutes a game and doubled his career starts in the 2nd half of the season while in a playoff push. I thought you knew everything.
Why do you assume I care about anything you or anyone says. I only show the truth of your whining and crying. And exceptions to the truth.
I just said he was a rotation player. Its a step up.
You just whined he was hurt thru playoffs. Like I always say. Clowns clown themselves.
Moody avg 22 mins during season !!!!
He avg 16 mins in playoffs. I just posted all of this yet. Instead of looking up his stats. That takes a MINUTE. You rather whine and cryi about me calling him a rotation player. This gets your panties in a twist. I search before I POST. I know what I say.
You should try it …..
The gym class hero had a couple lucky preseason games and got everyone all hyped up. Needed to fabricate a new excuse for when he falls off the next game he plays.
He faked it just like Keegan Murray.
Keegan literally having surgery, hard to fake that
Surgery is literally one of the easiest things to fake. You just put a cast on and people will believe you.
And Moody had surgery also. But, you kept saying he lied about it. You still haven’t presented proof he lied.
I did not say that. And you still haven’t presented proof that I did
Oh excuse me. You said he “faked” the injury and surgery. So, when he talked about it after he “fake recovery”, is that still “faking” it? Or it that lying?
I did not say that, and you still have not presented proof that I did
Your really deleting comments to hide? Lmao
No. How do I even do that? lMaO
Yikes
Yikes I don’t know how to delete my comments? Sorry I’m not the expert in that like you
Keep going chief lol we r all rooting for u
Yikes
And laughing at him
We all saw you post that he actually wasn’t injured in the game on March 17th (despite the media reports after that game that that’s when he had the thumb injury), and that he actually got hurt later.
Are you going to deny that too?
He wasn’t, and I never denied that I said he wasn’t. That’s just another one of your delusions. What’s your point here?
Ha ha, so the media reports after the game that documented the injury were lying, according to you only.
Talk about delusional!
Except there were no reports. That’s just your delusion. Because if there were you would cite a report from March. But you cant. So you wont
Try again
“Warriors’ Moses Moody: Struggles shooting
Rotowire Mar 21, 2025
Moody tallied four points (0-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two assists, two steals and one rebound in Thursday’s 117-114 win over the Raptors. Moody struggled from the field, missing all his field-goal attempts and totaling all four points from the free-throw line. The 22-year-old also shot poorly Tuesday against the Bucks but has generally been a steady secondary contributor for the Warriors. Since becoming a full-time starter on February 13, the 2021 first-round pick has averaged 11.9 points and 3.4 rebounds on 45.5 percent shooting in 16 games.”
Try again
Moses Moody still sucks. He always has. He’s in over his head. But his shooting could be useful in the starting lineup with this bunch. In fact, they’ll need him for that.
He’s still going to get shipped out of town in February along with JK for whatever they can get as a rotational guy. The writing is on the wall and I’m never wrong (lol just kidding.)
Same as this Victor Oladipo talk this week, lol. I think somebody here trashed me for saying “he’s done” earlier in the summer.
Is it necessary for me to say it again? Victor Oladipo is done.
Mac McClung does not belong in the NBA.
There’s no way Jonathan Kuminga takes the qualifying offer.
Al Horford is absolutely signing with the Warriors.
Moses Moody sucks.
What else do you want to know?
Gary, your unmatched hoops knowledge notwithstanding, I detect some historical revision😃
Thank you Ari. I appreciate it.
Start Heild. Have Moody be the sixth man type
Nope. Moody is the perfect SG to add to that oldies rotation. Moody’s IQ is sky high, way higher than Kuminga’s, he absolutely will take the next step with these oldies in the starting rotation.
Buddy has to learn defense and hit the 3 consistently. Every game, not only every 5th game. Buddy is only like, slightly better han Seth Curry.
“After years of being in and out of the Warriors’ rotation, Moody seems to have finally carved out a role for himself as a floor spacer and versatile wing defender in Kerr’s main rotation. If he were to miss time, it could open the door for Brandin Podziemski and Buddy Hield to earn extra minutes.”
The article and his own coach. Consider a rotation piece, player a step UP. Yet some of us can’t handle that. Doesn’t seem like a serious injury. Nobody is game shape yet. Always better to be cautious with injuries at this time.
Kuminga and Podz have looked good against Lakers
Wow surprised by the amount of hate Moody is getting on this comment section, just not what I thought I’d see
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I know I’ve thrown a lot of negativity his way and for practically his entire time here.
But what are we supposed to do? He’s not very good. I have given him respect for becoming a pretty good shooter and I think the Warriors can use that for the time being.
But he’s not a rotation guy on a playoff team. He really isn’t.
Is that hating? I think it’s an analysis of his game. How can you literally hate someone who works hard, does what he’s asked, is a fantastic teammate, and is a good kid? I don’t think that’s possible lol
It’s only Gary who despises Moses Moody for literally no reason, even after he played really well before getting hurt last year. I love Moody’s potential and many of the great games he’s had.
Gary, please stop hating Moody. You are wrong, then, now, forever about him. It’s very ODD how much you hate a Warriors player. I never hated Podz this much.
To quote KG, “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEE” (it had to be in all caps sorry)
I feel like Moody has been a very serviceable player and I think he is still developing. I definitely believe he can be a starting caliber player
Brabo you’re not wrong. Maybe it happens and I think all warrior fans would love to see it.
Plus, my opinion is no better than yours. Yours is actually a lot more valid because the odds of a guy getting better through hard work are definitely greater than a guy staying at the same level.
Anybody who works on his game should get better. But you also have to be given the opportunity. Sometimes young talent gets lost in the search for chemistry. Young talent is notoriously up and down lol.
@Brabo, I certainly don’t hate Moody. I expect him to continue to progress each season.
But he’s not a starter on a Championship contender. He’s your 3rd guy off the bench. He will always be slow afoot and his ball-handling skills are limited. He’s appropriately on a 3 year, $12M/yr deal.
The problem comes when expectations exceed potential.
It’s mainly from Gary, who hates Moody for reasons no one knows and he can never actually point at. Gary is 100% wrong about Moody and we already proved it before Moody got hurt he was playing like a main starter/rotation piece. As Moody is a good at NBA basketball. Better than Kuminga tbh. Podz is also better than Kuminga. All three however, still have all-star ceilings in the NBA. Nothing has changed there. Kuminga will eventually be a star in this league even if he isn’t this season. Fans are morons when it comes to understanding player development isn’t a linear thing and just because he got paid this year, doesn’t mean Kuminga is going to immediately break out. That will likely happen in 2027-28-onwards.
I just disagree with you buddy. That’s OK because I value your opinion.
Go Dubs!
@aristotle:
“First, if injury limits a player to the extent people suggest Moody was, he shouldn’t have been playing. Everybody’s banged up late in the season. For example, Podz had multiple post-season procedures.”
I agree, and injured Podz shouldn’t have been playing either. Podz started every game in the Wolves series and avgd 11.6 ppg on 34%.30%/73% splits.
Kuminga avgd 20.8 ppg on 54%42%/74% splits while never starting and playing only 27.4 min/gm.
@NBAisOK, the problem with that analysis is you’re selectively blaming bad performance on injury, while ignoring that periods of strong performance happened during the same period.
Podz didn’t get injured during the Minnesota series. He says he was playing through injuries most of the season, including the best of his career over the last month of the season and a several of the Houston games.
The same applies to Moody.
Ok I bit the bullet and opened a new account and it looks like we can reply to each other now? I agree 100% @aristotle. Moody and Podz are both a lot better than they were in the playoffs last year, they flashed way higher ceilings before both got hurt.
@aristotle
In Moody’s case, his FG% dropped quite a bit after the injury. In the 60 games prior, he shot 45%/39%. After the injury, 37%/30% in the remaining reg season and 35%/33% in the playoffs.
Exactly what injury are you referring to?
@NBAisOK, I’ll stand by my claim that it’s false to blame Moody’s late-season shooting slump on his thumb.
Moody had his thumb injury on March 19. His performance was unaffected by the injury for first 8 games (in 2 weeks) of the season immediately following the injury. The deep slump happened immediately after these 2 weeks.
In 2 weeks following his injury:
March 22 vs. ATL: 20 points. 3-of-8 3PT
March 25 vs. MIA: 7 points. 0-of-9 3PT
March 28 vs. NOP: 7 points: 1-of-3 3PT
March 30 vs. SAS: 20 points: 3-of-6 3PT
April 1 vs. MEM: 10 points. 2-of-5 3PT
April 3 vs. LAL: 13 points. 3-of-6 3-PT
April 4 vs. DEN: 8 points 2-of-2 3PT
Totals for these 8 games after injury:
85 pts, 14-of-39 3PT
10.6 ppg, 36 3PT%
2024-25 season:
9.8 ppg, 37 3PT%
I cannot believe I had to do this, but apparently my comments on my main account arent showing up until 24-48 hours later, and no one can reply to them? Ugh. I will be posting on this account for now on – just FYI this is the same guy posting from both Davey J. and this one ONLY. Do not believe any other accounts!
Moody is about to have a breakout year if he stays healthy, he is a perfect fit for that old guy rotation and is a great scorer, which is, yknow, what a SG is supposed to be.
You’re on detention and on delay because you have posted some pretty vile comments in the past.
They don’t trust that you’ll not attack someone, use foul language, and the rest of it.
In radio it’s a seven second delay, but on Hoops Rumors for you it’s a 24 hour Delay.
You’ve earned it buddy. Just be nice and quit calling people names.
So its fine for other users to threaten my life for me saying “you don’t know ball” to them, and therefore me saying “you don’t know ball” is punished more than someone threatening violence?
Got it. Cool place you run here, Gary. Can you please put LEAD MODERATOR along with your username, so we all know this is actually your job? Was unclear before.
@daveyj, I know you’re frustrated. But be cool. Nobody here is doing anything to mess with you intentionally.
@daveyj 2.0, Glad that I can FINALLY reply to you directly! Let it be known that I have no beef with you. We’ve disagreed on many things, but you’ve never been disrespectful to me personally. I appreciate any post that shows passion about the Warriors and is well-written. Keep ‘em coming.
This company being used for commenting is so buggy I believe this is sadly the answer: everyone open a new account, and use that one. No more bugs, no more @’ing users who do not get informed of it, etc. My experience went up 100x fold when I opened this second account.
@aristotle
I’m not sure why you left out the game he was injured in (Bucks on March 18th, 2-9/1-5) and the next one vs the Raptors on the 20th (0-5, 0-3) isn’t included either. Include those 2 games to your random choice of 8 games and he shot 41%/32% (well below the 60 games prior’s 45%/39%).
And who’s to say that the injury didn’t get worse after playing with it for a couple of weeks?
