Lakers guard Luka Doncic and Knicks guard Jalen Brunson have been named the Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, according to the NBA (Twitter links).
Doncic led the Lakers to three wins during the week of November 24-30 while averaging 37.3 points, 10.3 assists and 8.7 rebounds per contest. Those performances, which included a 43-point outburst against the Clippers, increased his league-leading scoring average to 35.1 points per game.
Brunson lifted the Knicks to four wins by averaging 28.8 points and 4.5 assists per game while knocking down 40.7 percent of his three-point attempts. He matched his season high on Friday by racking up 37 points against Milwaukee.
Doncic and Brunson, of course, were backcourt partners in Dallas. Brunson has earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors seven times since joining the Knicks, while this is the first time Doncic has achieved the feat since becoming a Laker.
The other nominees in the West were Zach Edey (Grizzlies), Anthony Edwards (Timberwolves), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder), Jamal Murray (Nuggets) and Austin Reaves (Lakers).
Desmond Bane (Magic), Jaylen Brown (Celtics), Tyler Herro (Heat), Jalen Johnson (Hawks) and Pascal Siakam (Pacers) were also nominated in the East.
Both these guys were former Dallas Mavericks players.
For their FO’s miscalculations, It would take maybe 10 years or more for the Mavs to win again, I guess, lol.
As inept Nico was that ended up destroying the team, I don’t think it’ll take that long. They have a pretty decent road to unload AD and Kyrie to get under the cap and recoup some draft picks/players. They still own the ’26 1st rounder.
Just need to make sure they are decent before ’28 since their 1st rnd is a pick swap with OKC.
Btw Brunson leaving was 100% Mark Cuban who didnt want to pay him
Nico strikes again!
Brunson / Doncic –> Max Christie/ Brandon Williams 🔥🔥
AD?
Talking about backcourt transition
They still have Kyrie
Fair enough. I’ll bet he won’t play many more games in Dallas though
If the Lakers and the Knicks don’t put up Nico statues soon that would be a travesty!
We don’t do statues in NY. We don’t have enough space ……
Brunson was a FA. He goes where he wants to go.
Defensive Rating: 112.6
Historical Context: This is an improvement from previous seasons, making it his best rating yet, according to StatMuse.
Luka ….😱😱OMG😳 ….. is he really playing defense now. Brunson at 118.3 this year.
In Slovania they play Nobramba …….
Luka has averaged 9 defensive rebounds and 2 steals a game. Almost every year he is the only non-center in the top 20, and top ten in steals.
He was al said a decent defender against forwards, the way he is built. This year lighter he is moving a lot better with the guards too. And he has been a lot more active defensively for sure.
SGA has a defensive rating of 105. That’s what real defense looks like. Lukas been over 118 his whole career. So its about time he starts playing D.
This is what real defense looks like …….

Tell me you don’t know how DRTG works / what it is without telling me you don’t know lol.
It does not measure individual defense in the slightest. David Lee lead the Knicks in it. Bruce Bowen was routinely among the lowest on the Spurs.
Might as well be saying Mitchell Robinson is a great offensive player since he leads the Knicks in ORTG. As did Tyson Chandler in his day.
It’s a box score efficiency stat (weighted against team performance), and nothing more. (But of course, you knew that).
Luka has a Career 111 DRTG. The 113 he has right now represents his career low. You’re just making **** up LOL.
That 113 actually leads the Lakers, which is just further evidence you have no idea what any of these numbers mean.
Mavs beat Nuggets tonight. AD with a big game …..
And WhoTF is Ryan Nembhard ….. undrafted PG
Tonight — 30 mins, 26 pts, 9 ast ……. 😱😱
Have Mavs finally found their PG …. Unbelievable
