Injured star Stephen Curry won’t travel with the Warriors as they embark on a three-game road trip that begins on Thursday in Philadelphia, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters on Tuesday night.
That means that in addition to missing Thursday’s game against the Sixers, Curry will be unavailable for a weekend back-to-back in Cleveland on Saturday and Chicago on Sunday. After that trip, Golden State will have four full days off before hosting the Timberwolves on December 12.
“It was a long shot for him to play in the back-to-back and we don’t play again until (next) Friday,” Kerr explained, per Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area. “So it just makes perfect sense for him to stay home with (director of sports medicine and performance) Rick (Celebrini), get the rehab done here, get his work in and hopefully be ready for Minnesota next Friday.”
Curry exited last Wednesday’s loss to Houston with an injury that the Warriors later diagnosed as a quad contusion and muscle strain. He was initially ruled out for Saturday’s game against New Orleans and Tuesday’s matchup with the defending champion Thunder.
The Warriors beat the Pelicans over the weekend and put up a valiant effort on Tuesday against an Oklahoma City team that has been dominating the league this season, but couldn’t pull off the second-half comeback without Curry and star forward Jimmy Butler, who exited the game due to left knee soreness, as Anthony Slater of ESPN writes.
It’s unclear whether Butler, who was initially listed as questionable to play vs. OKC due to a glute contusion, will be available on Thursday vs. Philadelphia, Slater adds.
“I don’t know anything more,” Kerr said after the game when asked about Butler’s injury. “I didn’t even know (he was out) until I was drawing up a play with a minute to go (before the second half) and somebody came in the huddle and said Jimmy is down.”
The 11-11 Warriors, who have an overall net rating of +0.7 so far this season, are at +6.3 when Butler is on the court, +3.6 when Curry is playing, and +10.6 when they’re on the floor together.

That’s the worst trade in the Warriors history you just do not fit he’s really not a basketball player is IQ level is negative
What trade and player are you referring to?
Buddy Hield, prob
You must be a very recent Warriors fan
Worst trade in warriors history has gotta be Wilt lol
Can you all at least see what I mean about Kerr now? I mean he played Jimmy at the 5 with Spencer, Seth, GP2 and Podz. That isn’t a real NBA lineup. Not to mention subbing out Seth and Spencer for Podz and Buddy, who both are absolutely terrible, when GSW finally meshed. Kerr LOVES to watch a rotation start cooking and then immediately switch it, causing them to lose. Why do we continually make excuses for his bad coaching?
That said, I’m actually ok with being 11-11 right now, with Steph out and so many b2b’s to start the year. This is the type of team that can tread water and catch fire towards the end and hit the playoffs ready to go.
I disagree with you. I think Steve Kerr is doing a fantastic job and to have this team at .500 considering the circumstances is an amazing accomplishment.
I look forward to trade deadline time.
Either blowing it up because the struggles and age are too much to overcome, or the Warriors sit around .500 and make a big move to approach the last month and a half of the season akin to last year.
You are just disagreeing with me because you want to argue. In real life, you agree with me. This Podz/Moody beef we have proves that is fact. You literally are arguing a +2 is worse than a -9.
👎
I completely agree. However, they’re not blowing it up. They will trade to make tweaks. They have this year and next year to try to win 1 more. Do I think they do NO unless they get a big and bigger 2 guard. However they have a puncher’s chance. The 3rd year will be curry farewell tour with green and they won’t win many games and play for the lottery
Kerr gotta go if Curry wants another ring.
US Mens team replaced Kerr and Kerr doesn’t have a Warriors contract extension.. see a pattern?
No.
Yup. If he doesn’t win a ring this year he gotta go.
Blacap, that opinion is yours alone. You can’t find that anywhere else and by anyone who knows basketball in a serious way.
Jimmy’s IQ is off the charts. And sometimes those guys don’t get along real well with the general population because they get frustrated that others don’t see what they see. Only the very best get over that hurdle as well. Looks like a work in progress for Jimmy.
As far as the worst trade in history? I think the Warriors were a .500 team and struggling before he came aboard.
They became a forced to be reckoned with after the trade. Beat the number two seed and had the wolves on the ropes until their age caught up with them.
The Warriors or any other team in that position would do that trade in a heartbeat.
Can you imagine the Warriors right now without Jimmy and with Andrew Wiggins instead? Lol yeah see what I mean?
Finally, worst trade in warrior history? Joe Barry Carroll may have a different opinion.
He never said who he was talking about, I assumed it was Buddy Hield
Robert Parrish trade was the worse. CP3 was just a bad trade. He was already on the downside of his career. The Mitch Richmond trade for Billy Owen was worse too.
Some Warrior fans can’t accept that the team is closer to a rebuild than a championship. They are what they are a .500 team.
It’s Dec 3, being a .500 team is just fine. If they had Steph last night, they win, period.
Well, it didn’t take long to see 4-guard line-ups.
Yesterday, GS played half of the game like that. I was watching that game with a smile on my face, thinking: “Somewhere in the world, there’s angry Davey J, who’s mad at Kerr and is writing comments on hoopsrumors about his small-ball”.
But hey, that unit at the start of the 3rd played great and completely erased OKC’s lead. They had more fight in them than most teams that face OKC.
You know what I think? I think that Kerr’s thoughts will be: “We lost the game, but I think I found something here. I will try it more”. So I expect more small-ball from him.
Nice to know I live rent free. You don’t even know what I look like or who any of us are IRL.
Maybe, just maybe, you are taking these comments sections too seriously?
That said, you are right. At least you admit you can see what I mean and what is causing my Kerr-hatred (which is actually “no rings with Curry in his prime”). Now answer me this: why is GSW keeping him and not firing him? Kerr would be long gone by now on 29 other franchises.
Hey, man. I’m not trying to be mean or anything like that. Just a little bit of banter. Hope you can take it.
As for Kerr, you’ve seen your team win the title 4 times in the last 10 years. You’re spoiled, and, understandably, you want more.
Kerr is not perfect, but there are teams out there that would probably take him.
Kerr can’t coach any team without curry on it though. He isn’t talented. We are seeing it right now, he has only 1 move: play his lesser talents like GP2 over more talented players like Kuminga and Moody. That is terrible coaching. No one else in the NBA is playing their worse players over their best ones as much as Kerr does. Kerr only knows small ball. Its quite insane. He has not built any type of non-Curry offense that works. He is a rider and nothing more. He likely will never coach in the NBA again after his time on GSW is done.
I can take a bit o’ banter…just dunno if you noticed, I get trolled a lot on here, makes one a bit trigger happy…
Well, we haven’t seen Kerr coach a team without Steph Curry on it, so we can only speculate.
I agree that Kuminga and Moody treatment has been disappointing. I think highly of many players from that 2021 draft, and those 2 are among them.
A lot has been said about Kuminga, but Moody is in the same boat. I could see a situation where if they got drafted to a different team or to GS but under a different set of circumstances, were nurtured and empowered, both of them could grow into being proper contributors on winning teams, and possibly achieve some level of star status. And it’s probably still possible, maybe even in GS jerseys.
But some teams would take Kerr. If I’m Milwaukee, I’d take him in a heartbeat.
@ Peter….and one Pat Spencer near changed the momentum and result. Davey boy loves him some Spencer.
Sitting Kerr would be the right move. Get someone whose voice carries weight and motivates—Warriors have folded like a dirty diaper.
The Warriors are .500. It would be a little more accurate to say the LA Clippers have folded like a dirty diaper.
So a different voice would turn Moses Moody into a starting caliber player on a contending team?
So a different voice would turn JK into a team first, winning matters, offensive force to be reckoned with?
The problem with the team today is their draft history under Bob Myers.
Everyone and the brother saw that problem and so Bob Myers is now sitting…, in the NBC Studios in New York lol
Once again Gary centers in on Moses Moody, who was +2 last night, and thinks Podz and GP2 who both were -9, are better. Great work Gary! Your analysis is 100% rooted in emotion, not facts. This is proof. Stop letting posters live rent free, I love Moody, ergo you automatically hate him. I hate Podz, ergo you automatically love him. Reactionary views are never valid.
Davey, I hope this comment is well received.
If you look at the stat sheet, which you often do, and the plus/minus numbers, you can see that the starting lineup was taken to the cleaners in the first half.
But the Warriors crawled back in the second half and it was with the second unit.
Agreed on these two points? I hope so.
Now look at your plus/minus numbers.
Moses Moody played 15 minutes was 1-5 from the field and +2.
Podski played a lot more minutes, shot the ball well, had a lot of points yet was -9.
How did Brandin take part in the comeback, yet have a -9?
Look at Jimmy and Graymond plus/minus numbers. -13 and -17 !!
-9 means Brandin PLAYED WELL and was part of the comeback !!
Again, I hope this comment is well received.
I dunno Gary, this is using Ai-style spacing. I’m skeptical.
Oh so 17 points is “a lot” but Moody has to avg 30 or else he “sucks”. Got it.
Podz stinks my dude. He gotta go. Buddy too. Everyone else can cover these minutes. If Moody was out there more, they would have won. Same with Kuminga and Post. We lost all these winnable games from using Podz, GP2 and Buddy in all-guard lineups, instead of Kuminga, Post and Moody, who are factually better players who are playing well right now but who aren’t allowed to play because they aren’t short or white enough, which can only be the logical reason Podz is still even up here and not down in Santa Cruz, where he belongs. Buddy belongs on the retirement list. Kerr is so bad at his job, small ball is failing him every single game now and he keeps going there.
Trayce Jackson-Davis gets developed when? Oh right, incompetent Kerr doesn’t even know how to do any aspect of his job, like player development. I hate “vibes” based hirings and Kerr is 100% one of them. It’s not 2022 anymore, and being a GSW fan has been a nightmare since Kerr told Poole to say that to Draymond-to present. Stop making excuses for this absolute clown.
I wrote all this myself btw.
Also, if you wanna talk stats, Moody was a +10 in 3Q when GSW cooked them, in 6:26 minutes. Moody then played 1 minute in 4Q with a -1. Why? Gary Payton II, a guy no other team wants who is on a minimum wage deal, played 11 mins in 4Q at a -7, when he is not even in the top 8 players the Warriors had. He literally led the team in mins on 4Q…why? He is not a good player, he is a minimum wage guy. Buddy Hield played 9:10 mins at a -10. He was 2nd. Draymond was 3rd at 8:56, also at -10. Podz was 5th at 7:00 for a -7.
One thing we definitely can agree on, Draymond stinks this year so far.
Gary, Kerr is losing games on purpose by playing his lesser talented players over his more talented ones.
Here is where you can view these stats for themselves:

Again, no Ai here.
You need to face facts. You don’t know as much about basketball as you think you do. Curry is the biggest name in franchise history. If he felt Kerr was doing such a bad job, why hasn’t Steph gotten Kerr fired? Curry has a lot of respect for Kerr. The Curry’s and Dunleavy’s have probably forgotten more about basketball than you will ever know. They respect Kerr.
Plus/Minus is not a good way to evaluate players. You can go to the NBA website and see the plus/minus for players and lineups. The combination of Curry/Butler/Green actually has a pretty low number compared to a lot of bench players.
Davey, according to site rules you’re only allowed to troll Kerr from one account at a time. Please adhere to this limit. Thanks in advance.
;)
Where have I used 2 accounts in this thread? At least make the joke good
I have 2 accounts because the other one was filled with bugs and would not let me reply to several posters, including Aristotle, even though no one had each other blocked or muted and we get along just fine. I have been open and honest about this, everyone knows it. Odd you would bring it up.
What’s odd is you not noticing the rush of wind going over your head.
Yeah, bad jokes will whiff pretty often if they are illogical or are stretching to make the point *shrugs*
What kind of knowledgeable fan thinks they can win every year. Just staying healthy every year. Is a major process and lot of luck.
Changing of the guard happens to every winning franchise. The Bulls owners never appreciated what they had. And let everyone walk. The Warriors are just aging. It’s not easy to just plug in players and win. Winning takes a special group of players. It’s not just about talent. Need to be on same page and support each other. Players, coaches, management, owners. The one common all repeat champions have. Is players who play to win. To win you play both ways. All great players know that.

Steph Curry is built different. GSW should have won almost every year. They were about to win last year until Steph got hurt.
If Steph is healthy, you should win. If he isn’t, you likely will not win.
Do you still believe in Santa Claus too ……
I feel sorry for you Davey. How will you ever watch ball when Steph is done.
Warriors are done. The right Kuminga trade. And getting Lopez for Buddy. Is only thing can help Steph next 2-3yrs. The End is near.
Typical Knicks fan attitude…but Giannis beckons…also Joker is a FA soon…plenty of ways to get a good roster around Steph, who clearly is still in his on-court prime.
Warriors have lost 4 gms by 5 pts or less. Imo they don’t have enough to get out of West even healthy. Al’s nerve and back issue. Is a serious thing to me. Lopez is a good option. And the right Kuminga trade is a must. Still a lot of games to be played. Dec 15 is a major date from Warriors.
