As expected, Warriors big man Al Horford will return to action on Thursday. The 39-year-old has been upgraded to available for the Christmas matchup vs Dallas, tweets Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Horford has missed the past seven games — and 11 of the past 12 — due to right sciatic nerve irritation. Head coach Steve Kerr indicated on Wednesday that the longtime forward/center would likely play today.
Health issues have limited Horford’s availability and effectiveness in 2025/26. He had appeared in 13 of Golden State’s 30 games entering Thursday, averaging career lows in points (5.6), rebounds (4.4) and minutes (21.5) per game. Horford is also posting career-worst percentages on twos (38.1%) and threes (29.8%), though the sample sizes are very small (8-of-21 and 17-of-57, respectively).
A five-time All-Star, Horford has transitioned into an effective role player in the latter stages of his career, helping Boston win the championship in 2024. The 19-year veteran was the Warriors’ marquee free agent addition in the offseason, signing a two-year, $11.7MM deal that includes a player option for 2026/27.
Horford will come off the bench on Thursday, with Kerr using the same starting lineup (Stephen Curry, Moses Moody, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Quinten Post) he has been running for the past handful of games, notes ESPN’s Anthony Slater (via Twitter).

Big Al Raining in 3s.
At his current rate of .298, or?
actually his current rate of this writing is like 34 percent after going 4-5
Watch the game or Google the boxscore if youre gonna talk shizz
Life’s good when you are shooting well
11/27 3pt, 41%
Mavs not playing D. Especially without AD.
See how Mavs have no respect for GS middle. They missed a lot of close shots. Warriors have no interior D. Kenny can’t see.
I think Charles is right. AD getting hurt is so old man. Who would take AD …. That’s the question.
Kerr has gone 6 deep. Thats his system when its working. Pray for a good return on Kuminga. And Warriors could level up ….. Claxton would be great for this team.
TJD, Richard, Kuminga >>>>> to Nets.
Claxton to >>>>>> Warriors
Al only played 11 minutes in this game but put up a 14/4/2 slash +9 with no fouls or turnovers. Keep him healthy for the playoffs please.
That JacksonDavis-Butler-Moody-Podz-Melton lineup cooked so hard offensively, and held it down defensively. Huge to finally see a non-Curry offense make some noise. They were getting downhill a lot in the first half, and were difficult to stop.
Kuminga, Santos, Spencer and Hield all DNPs.
Just happy to get a rare Dec 25 W despite Curry’s usual Xmas day slump, happy holidays!
Yeah I was watching him. He moved well. Lije I said, I hope he is good. Kerr had the game. So he didn’t need to play him. The bench played well.
TJD is decent 4. He needs to play him more consistently. He definitely gives big man mins. Was a great rebounder in college. Al you need him tor playoffs. So he needs to stay healthy.
They should bring in Moses Brown to look at him.
He is on the warriors but he is still Celtics’ al horford come on
I know it was No AD and Mavs. Still a good game for Warriors. They showed they are tough when they play right. Their offense can hurt you when it’s wirking. And they shhot well. They go 6 deep. That’s impressive. Today they rebounded. Post and TJD are coming along. You add a rim protector. Makes them even better. Everyone is happy when tge shots drop. It’s when they don’t. That you show who you really are.
Warriors went 3-23 from 3 in the second half and won by 10. Should have been a huge blowout. Nice moves by Flagg, but without AD the Mavs ain’t much to look at this year aside from the 19 and 4 day year old Cooper Flagg, who already has a 40 point game and only 1 game with a negative game score. Biiig Lebron vibes from Flagg, early on. Once the 3’s start dropping, he is going to be a big deal in this league. Could happen at any moment. All the tools are there, just needs the experience. I would copy the Spurs and try and surround him with similar young players and bring them up all together.
Post 6 points 3 boards in 14 mins. -2
Davey I’ll keep the tracker for Vu and Post.
Vu plays tomorrow. I think he’ll be better than that tomorrow.
It’s about team wins, also Post might have been injured, also Vuc would only be getting 14 mins a game on the Warriors too, if he gets more mins than that and loses, its +1 Post.
Goalpost yet again lol. You spoke on individual stats not team wins or losses lol.
Davey Goal Post Mover strikes again. Anything to make the narrative that the Dubs will win the 2026 Championship with Giannis.
I dont ever move goalposts, thats what yall do to me. Gaslight much?
Why you want move Vuc now. Or you think Bulls do.
Imo if you can sign him at fair price. I give him a three yr deal third yr TO. 15-18 mill.
Vuc is too old to get a 3 year deal, that’s lunacy, Al.
