Mavericks big man Anthony Davis returned to action on Thursday vs. Philadelphia following a two-game absence due to a groin strain. Head coach Jason Kidd said the 10-time All-Star would immediately resume his normal workload, relays Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal.
“We always want him to play, so we’re happy to have him back,” Kidd said. “We’ll see — 30 to 34 minutes. We want to get him some touches. Offensively and defensively, we need him to be AD.”
Davis has been one of the biggest names in trade rumors for several weeks.
Here are a few more injury-related updates from around the NBA:
- Pistons center Jalen Duren suffered a right ankle sprain late in the second quarter of Thursday’s loss to Miami. While he was on the court to open the second half, he was moving gingerly and quickly asked for a sub before being formally ruled out for the remainder of the contest (Twitter link via the team). Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff indicated that Duren would likely undergo additional testing, tweets Omari Sankofa II of The Detroit Free Press.
- The Rockets got Alperen Sengun back from a left soleus (calf) strain on Thursday, but were missing backup centers Steven Adams (right ankle sprain) and Clint Capela (illness) in the victory at Brooklyn, notes Will Guillory of The Athletic (via Twitter). Sengun missed two games with the injury, though head coach Ime Udoka said it wasn’t serious.
- The Warriors are resting Draymond Green for Friday’s matchup vs. Oklahoma City, according to Anthony Slater of ESPN (Twitter link). It’s the front end of a back-to-back for Golden State, which faces Utah on Saturday. Guards Stephen Curry (left ankle sprain) and De’Anthony Melton (left knee injury management) are questionable for Friday’s game against the Thunder, while centers Al Horford (right sciatic nerve irritation) and Trayce Jackson-Davis (right pattellar tendonitis) are probable to suit up against the defending champions.
- The Jazz only have nine players active for Thursday’s contest at the Clippers. Among the noteworthy players out are Lauri Markkanen (left knee contusion), Keyonte George (illness), Jusuf Nurkic (left big toe sprain) and Ace Bailey (left hip flexor strain), per the league’s official injury report.

Jazz are barely an NBA team with those guys healthy.
Jazz are up and coming team. You must not have been watching them. Clippers were neck and neck with the 3rd string for 3 quarters. There in every game
Up and coming?
They’re 12-21, 4-6 in the L10, 5-15 vs teams with winning records – so not really
There starting center is out. They have multiple picks and KG and luri are playing like all stars. They have role players and Axe is developing nicely. Clayton looks like a good rotational piece. And 7 of those games They lost by One possession each. With wins over Houston and San Antonio with Wemby playing. Next year they will be a playin and can make two or 3 moves to really improve to jumb. They are the best young team in the league. OKC and San Antonio are no longer considered up and coming. What other team has a brighter position than them. Detroit’s already a solidified team so they’re not a young team either. Orlando is at the crossroads of needing to perform.
Well, considering that this is year 4 of their rebuild, you’d hope they would be starting to improve. A couple of good wins and their youth doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll get into the play-in next year.
Of course bring back the same team, but with picks and cap space plus two all Stars they will be able to make a move. Add in a year for Ace as I said they are the best young team in the NBA. You didn’t say anything but it’s been 4 year what that got to do with this year. You said the Jazz are barley a team with those guys healthy. That show you actually don’t watch them or know what your talking about
I said it. I don’t watch the Jazz. It is very hard to watch them because they don’t actually seem to be developing chemistry or have any idea about how to play team D. But go ahead and put your faith in Ainge’s long term vision. Glacially long term.
So why are you speaking on something you know nothing about. What is wrong with people on this site. I’m not a plumber and would speak on pipes. I asked someone who knows. Makes no sense to argue me down when you don’t know what you’re talking about. I just told you they are developing nicely and are the best young team in the NBA right now. I don’t consider OKC a young team they are champions.
For all of you that go nuts over AD. Like you know something nobody knows. AD has never had a serious structural injury to his body his legs. His eye surgery is his worst injury. Do the math. Your phones have a calculator ……
With the shortened Covid-yr. AD in 6 yrs he has been a Laker. He has played 63% of his games. Even though he has repeatedly told you. He doesn’t want to play center. In those six yrs he has avg over 32 mins a gm.
Now you can cry and call him names. I rather manage the situation. If I can get him cheap. I have a sit down. And let him know. He won’t play C. But I need 15 lbs of more muscle. And we will game manage his mins. He won’t start in back to backs. I might use him in 4th Q. I will keep him under 32 mins. I am not saying this works. only I would look for a solution. Not cry about him all day. Or just don’t take him. Why the negativity and hate. If he doesn’t play on your team. This board is just full of glass half empty posters …… have a productive and healthy year !!
AD stats last night— 36 mins , 13 pts, 8 reb,
In a Mavs loss.
Al, he literally has “Street Clothes” on his basketball-reference page. Klay Thompson’s prime should have made it in the top 75 all-time over him.
That going to change fact he plays 63% of his games. Or that when he plays he is one of best 4s ever. All most do here is complain. Why would you care if he doesn’t play for your tean.
All I am doing is stating facts. I’m not telling you to like him or want him for your team. Considering he hasn’t had a najor injury. 63% of gns is not that far away trom 80% of his games. Someone has to be able to talk to him like a man.
What is it going to take for you to show up for a minimum 80% if games. Conditioning, playing only 4, getting a center to protect you. In life you can give up or go forward. This is balling lol. Much easier. Like Mello getting exposed after Knicks. Or Westbrook after Rockets. Or Harden after Rockets. AD won’t get another big contract. Does he really want to go out like this. Imo he is worth looking into. I don’t know him personally. So I can’t tell you for sure why he is soft. If I managed a team. I guarantee you I would know. Thats all.
AD is super talented. His contract in relation to his availability is a real issue. If his talents could be effectively harnessed at a reasonable price and under the limitations you suggest above that would be a huge upgrade.
Question re any W’s moves: does Kuminga have value or suitors?
We know this. He played for his first big contract. He played for Bron in LA his first two yrs. I get he’s a risk. I wouldn’t pay him. Sure like to know though
Why do reporters even write down what Kidd says? The man spews out a thousand words to the press and never says a GD thing. ‘Offensively and defensively, we need him to be A.D.’ Typical Kidd utterance. Who else do they need him to be? Who else is he capable of being? D.A? P.Q? Z.Z? A.B.C? Q.Y.Z? Reporting anything that twit says is a waste of space.
Kerr and Kidd gotta be the masters of saying absolutely zilch
GS loses by 50 or more like 75?
Thunder by 24.
Draymond is out, so that should reduce GSW’s turnovers.
they have played very well when he is not on the court.
Shams reported that Steph and Butler are out tonight also.
Weak.
Melton is out. I guess the 2 way players can all play tonight.
Curry too. Most of his assists this season have been for the opposing team.
DeRozan and two 1sts of sorts to GS for Kuminga and Seth Curry
Trade Heild, Horford and two 2nds to Chicago for Nikola Vucevic
GS signs Wiseman, promote Spencer
What do you think?
I think that makes GSW way worse.
How lol?
They aren’t trading Seth 😂.
Nope
