Dwight Howard Rumors: Friday
In yesterday's round-up of Dwight Howard rumors, we heard that the Nets and Magic were "still plugging away" in negotiations, and that the Magic are seeking cap relief in any deal. The Lakers also remain in the hunt, as Kobe Bryant would welcome the opportunity to play with Howard, even if he won't actively recruit him. As the Howard trade talks continue, we'll round up Friday's updates right here, with the latest items up top:
- There hasn't been any movement on the Howard talks today, according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com (Twitter link). In addition to the Nets and Lakers, the Hawks, Mavericks, and Rockets remain in play, Berger adds.

Free Agent Rumors: Redd, Camby, Stiemsma
Brandon Roy, Jason Kidd, and Jamal Crawford were among the players to reach agreements with new clubs yesterday, while Nicolas Batum and Jeremy Lin agreed to lucrative offer sheets that their current teams are expected to match. What will Friday bring? Here are the latest rumors on a number of free agents still on the market:
- The Suns and Bulls are the two teams "most heavily in the mix" for Michael Redd, says Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida.
- Marcus Camby will meet with the Heat tomorrow and the Knicks next, tweets Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. Feigen adds that Camby likely won't meet with the Rockets until there's resolution on Omer Asik.
Earlier updates:
Nets Sign Tyshawn Taylor
The Nets have signed second-round pick Tyshawn Taylor, according to the team (via Twitter). Brooklyn acquired the 41st pick from the Trail Blazers on draft night in order to select the Hoboken native.
As a second-rounder, Taylor figures to earn the rookie minimum of $473,604. Adding a charge that small to the cap will have a negligible impact on the Nets' flexibility as they look to re-sign their own free agents or pursue a larger fish, such as Dwight Howard.
Dwight Howard Rumors: Thursday
3:13pm: One league executive tells Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports that, with Nash on board, the Lakers may not need assurances that Howard will sign long-term to acquire him. Wojnarowski adds that, while Kobe Bryant won't actively try to recruit Howard, sources says Kobe would welcome Dwight as a teammate.
Wojnarowski also says the Nets are "working relentlessly" on a trade for Howard, but that the Magic's preferred target remains Andrew Bynum.
Ersan Ilyasova Has Five-Year Offer From Bucks
6:03pm: Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Ilyasova's five-year offer from the Bucks is worth approximately $40MM. He adds that, while the Nets are considering Ilyasova as a fallback plan if they are unable to trade for Dwight Howard, the Bucks do not appear interested in facilitating a sign-and-trade.
12:00pm: Unrestricted free agent power forward Ersan Ilyasova has a five-year contract offer on the table from the Bucks, tweets Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times. The amount of the offer is unknown, says Woelfel.
Jason Kidd Discusses D-Will, Mavs, Future
There were rumors as free agency approached that Deron Williams and Jason Kidd might come as a "package deal," with Kidd signing wherever D-Will ended up. It doesn't appear that will happen, but Kidd suggested to Jeff Caplan of ESPNDallas.com that it was a real possibility. He also discussed Williams' decision and attempted to explain the star point guard's thought process. Here are a few highlights from the discussion….
The Nets And The Salary Cap
Through three and a half days of NBA free agency, the Nets have run away with the title of most active team. They've agreed to a four-year deal with Gerald Wallace, a three-year deal with Mirza Teletovic, a sign-and-trade for Reggie Evans, a blockbuster trade for Joe Johnson, and, of course, a maximum contract for Deron Williams. How much flexibility do the Nets have to continue adding to their roster? Let's take a look….
Dwight Howard Rumors: Wednesday
Yesterday's round of Dwight Howard rumors was fairly eventful, featuring reports that the Magic are discussing deals with a number of teams, including the Lakers and Nets. The Nets still appear determined to put together a complicated package for Howard, though their increasing cap figure will make it difficult. The Lakers, meanwhile, seem willing to offer Andrew Bynum, but only with Metta World Peace in the deal as well, and only if D12 agrees to sign a long-term deal. I don't think that package gets it done for a Magic team looking for cap relief.
We'll round up today's Howard updates right here, so check back throughout the day for the latest:
Kennedy On Paul, Williams, Beasley, Ebanks
Despite turning down a three-year, $60MM offer from the Clippers when free agency started, Chris Paul is acting like someone who plans on staying in Los Angeles for a long time, writes Hoopsworld.com reporter Alex Kennedy. Paul has been working the phones and setting up face to face meetings with free agents, selling them on joining him for a chance at winning multiple championships. Paul is eligible after the 2012/13 season to sign a five-year, $110MM contract should the Clippers offer it.
Dwight Howard Rumors: Tuesday
4:43pm: The Magic haven't ruled out trading Howard to the Nets, and continue to talk to the Lakers, tweets Ken Berger of CBSSports.com.
12:54pm: The Lakers are prepared to offer Bynum and Metta World Peace in exchange for Howard, providing Dwight agrees to sign an extension, tweets Jarrod Rudolph of RealGM.com. Based on Wojnarowski's report, I'd be a little surprised if Orlando agreed to that deal. Plus, it would hinge on both big men agreeing to sign new contracts.
The Magic would include Jason Richardson in any Howard deal, Rudolph adds in a second tweet.
