Hawks Sign Antonius Cleveland To Multi-Year Deal

MARCH 14: Now that his second 10-day contract has expired, Cleveland has finalized his new multi-year deal with the Hawks, the team announced today in a press release.

Atlanta now has 13 players on guaranteed rest-of-season contracts, with Damion Lee and Jaylen Morris on 10-day deals.

MARCH 12: The Hawks are prepared to offer a multi-year deal to Antonius Cleveland that would include a guarantee for the remainder of the season, league sources told ESPN’s Chris Haynes (Twitter link).

Cleveland’s second 10-day deal is set to expire overnight on Tuesday. A plan was already in the works when Cleveland signed the second 10-day contract to extend the relationship for the rest of this season and beyond.

Cleveland, a 6’6” shooting guard, has yet to play for the Hawks. He saw action in 13 games as a two-way player with the Mavericks earlier this season, averaging 0.8 PPG in 6.2 MPG.

He went undrafted out of Southeast Missouri State last summer and inked a training camp deal with the Warriors before getting the two-way offer from Dallas.

Grizzlies Sign Briante Weber To 10-Day Deal

MARCH 14: The Grizzlies have officially signed Weber to a 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release. The deal will run through next Friday, March 23.

In order to create room on the roster for Weber, Memphis waived Xavier Rathan-Mayes, whose 10-day contract had been set to expire tonight. We had previously noted that Rathan-Mayes wouldn’t be getting a second 10-day pact from the Grizzlies.

MARCH 13: The Grizzlies have agreed to a deal with Briante Weber, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com (Twitter link). The contract will be a 10-day pact.

Weber appeared in 13 games for the Rockets earlier this season, playing under a two-way deal. The point guard saw 118 minutes of action and scored 7.9 points per contest. After the Rockets waived him, he caught on with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G League.

This will be Weber’s second stint with Memphis, as he played seven games with the club during the 2015/16 season. He has also spent time with the Warriors, Heat and, Hornets. For his career, he has 40 games (four starts) under his belt and nearly 500 minutes worth of court time.

Knicks Sign Troy Williams To Two-Year Deal

MARCH 13: The Knicks have officially re-signed Williams, the team confirmed in a press release.

MARCH 12: The Knicks will keep Troy Williams on their roster after his second 10-day contract expires tonight, league sources tell Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports. According to Charania, the Knicks and Williams have agreed to a two-year deal that will cover the rest of this season and will include partial guarantees for 2018/19.

While the exact salary terms weren’t reported, it figures to be a minimum salary contract — the Knicks used up their cap space and their room exception, so they can’t offer anything besides the minimum at this point. Michael Scotto of The Athletic also notes (via Twitter) that Williams’ new deal includes trigger dates, which means that – if they so choose – the Knicks should have a chance to waive him before various offseason deadlines without carrying much dead money on their ’18/19 cap.

Williams, 23, spent most of this season with the Rockets, but was waived after February’s trade deadline when Houston needed to open up a roster spot for Joe Johnson. Williams quickly caught on with the Knicks and has now spent 20 days with the team, averaging 8.1 PPG and 2.9 RPG in just 13.9 minutes per contest (eight games).

Teams can only sign a player to up to two 10-day contracts per season, so the Knicks would have had to part ways with Williams tomorrow if they didn’t work out a guaranteed deal with him. Because Williams is currently filling New York’s 15th roster spot, the club won’t be able to sign anyone else to a 10-day contract this season unless another player with a guaranteed salary is waived.

Lakers Sign Travis Wear To Second 10-Day Deal

MARCH 13: The Lakers have officially inked Wear to a second 10-day contract, the club confirmed today in a press release.

MARCH 12: The Lakers will sign forward Travis Wear to a second 10-day contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN tweets.

Wear has appeared in five games since he signed the first 10-day deal earlier this month. He has averaged 4.6 PPG and 2.4 RPG in 10.4 MPG. Wear, who made five of 14 3-point tries (35.7%) during that span, scored six points in a 14-point victory over the Cavaliers on Sunday.

The 6’9” Wear appeared in 51 games for the Knicks in 2014/15. He spent time in camp with the Lakers in 2016 and has played for the club’s G League affiliate for the past two seasons.

In 33 G League games for the South Bay Lakers this season, Wear averaged 16.7 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 2.0 APG.

Suns Sign Shaquille Harrison To Multi-Year Deal

MARCH 13: The Suns have officially announced their new deal with Harrison, confirming the signing in a press release.

MARCH 12: The Suns have decided to retain Shaquille Harrison and are working on a multi-year contract that will be guaranteed through the rest of this season, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports tweets.

Harrison’s second 10-day deal expires today and Phoenix has been impressed enough to give the Tulsa product a standard contract. The 6’4” guard has appeared in nine games and is averaging 4.2 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 1.9 APG and 1.3 SPG in 13.4 MPG. He had his biggest output against the Hornets on Saturday, contributing 14 points and four assists in 21 minutes as a starter with Devin Booker sidelined by a triceps strain.

Harrison, 24, went undrafted in 2016 and participated in the Suns’ training camp that year. The last two seasons, Harrison has played with the organization’s G League affiliate Northern Arizona. In 36 games with Northern Arizona, he averaged 11.0 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 3.5 APG, and 1.9 SPG.

Hawks Sign Damion Lee To 10-Day Contract

MARCH 13: The Hawks have officially signed Lee to a 10-day deal, the team announced today in a press release. It will run through next Thursday (March 22).

MARCH 12: The Hawks are expected to add yet another player on a 10-day contract. G League guard Damion Lee will become the latest player to ink a deal with Atlanta, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN (Twitter link).

Lee, who played his college ball at the University of Louisville, went undrafted in 2016 and signed a camp contract with the Celtics. He spent most of his rookie season playing for the Maine Red Claws (Boston’s G League affiliate) before joining the Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State’s affiliate) for the 2017/18 season.

In 38 games this season for Santa Cruz, Lee has averaged 15.8 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 2.6 APG. He has struggled a little with his outside shot, seeing his 3PT% dip to .305 after posting a .466 mark in 16 G League contests last season.

The Hawks currently have one open roster spot, so they can sign Lee without waiving anyone. Atlanta was already the only NBA team with multiple players currently on 10-day deals, with Antonius Cleveland and Jaylen Morris both on those short-term contracts. Morris will reportedly miss the next two to four weeks with an ankle injury though, so it’s not clear if the Hawks will keep him on the roster throughout his recovery, or if they’ll move on.

Trail Blazers Sign Wade Baldwin To NBA Contract

2:50pm: The Trail Blazers have officially signed Baldwin, the team confirmed in a press release.

1:52pm: The Trail Blazers have filled the open spot on their 15-man roster, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who reports (via Twitter) that the club has signed Wade Baldwin to a rest-of-season, minimum-salary contract.

Baldwin, who will turn 22 later this month, signed a two-way contract with the Blazers back in October, shortly after he was waived by the Grizzlies. A thumb injury kept him on the shelf for several weeks near the start of the season, but he has since returned to the court and played well in the G League.

Because Portland doesn’t have a G League affiliate of its own, Baldwin has been playing for the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ affiliate. In 17 games for the Legends, the former first-round pick has averaged 18.2 PPG, 5.1 APG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.2 SPG. He made his Blazers debut last Tuesday, playing three minutes in garbage time against the Knicks.

I wouldn’t expect Baldwin to become a key part of the Blazers’ rotation going forward, but he could see a little more action down the stretch, and his new contract will make him playoff-eligible.

Portland now has 16 players under contract in total — Baldwin will be the 14th on a standard, full-season NBA deal. The Blazers are also carrying Georgios Papagiannis on a 10-day contract and C.J. Wilcox on a two-way pact.

Hawks Sign Jaylen Morris To Second 10-Day Deal

MARCH 11: The Hawks have officially signed Morris to his second 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release. The contract will run through next Tuesday, covering five games.

MARCH 8: According to Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated, the Hawks plan to sign rookie guard Jaylen Morris to a second 10-day contract after his first 10-day deal expires tomorrow. Assuming the second contract is signed on Saturday, it will run through March 19, covering four games.

As previously touched upon, Morris went undrafted out of Division II Molloy College in last summer’s draft and had spent this season with the Erie BayHawks, Atlanta’s G League affiliate, before signing with the Hawks.

Morris has played in all four games since signing his first 10-day deal, averaging 3.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 17.0 minutes per contest. As a rookie, Morris’ deal with once again count as $46,080 towards the Hawks’ salary cap.

Mavericks Sign Jameel Warney To 10-Day Deal

MARCH 11, 1:06pm: The signing is official, the Mavericks announced in a press release.

MARCH 7, 3:16pm: The Mavericks will soon sign G League forward Jameel Warney to a 10-day contract, league sources tell Marc Stein of The New York Times (Twitter link).

Warney, 24, joined the Mavericks for training camp in 2016 after going undrafted out of Stony Brook. Cut by Dallas before the 2016/17 season got underway, he landed with the team’s G League affiliate, and has spent the last two seasons with the Texas Legends. This season, he has averaged 20.3 PPG, 9.6 RPG, and 2.8 APG in 37 G League games.

Warney has also represented USA Basketball during qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup. Playing for Team USA in last summer’s AmeriCup, the young forward was named MVP of the FIBA event en route to a gold medal. Warney averaged 12.8 PPG and 8.6 RPG to go along with a .649 FG% in AmeriCup play.

Before the Mavs officially sign Warney, they’ll need to open up the 15th slot on their roster. Scotty Hopson is currently holding that spot with a 10-day contract of his own, but that deal will expire overnight tonight, creating an opening for Warney. Unless the Mavs plan to waive someone with a guaranteed contract, that means Hopson won’t get a second 10-day deal — at least not right away.

Brandon Jennings Signs 10-Day Deal With Bucks

MARCH 11, 12:04pm: The signing is official, according to a tweet from the Bucks.

MARCH 10, 2:37pm: Brandon Jennings will sign a 10-day contract with his original team, the Bucks, tweets Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. The Bucks do not have an open roster spot, which means the team will need to waive a player to make room for Jennings.

Jennings, 28, signed a G League deal on Feb. 13 and was promptly signed by the Bucks’ affiliate, Wisconsin Herd. In five games with the Herd, Jennings showed flashes of his past success, averaging 20.4 PPG, 8.0 APG, and 4.8 RPG in 37.4 minutes per contest.

“Blessed and grateful for a second chance coming from a franchise where it all started,” Jennings said to The Undefeated (Twitter link).

The Compton, California, native spent his first four NBA seasons with the Bucks, averaging 17.0 PPG and 5.7 APG in 291 games. Jennings was shipped to the Pistons in 2013, where he played well in parts of two seasons; a ruptured left Achilles tendon in Jan. 2015 altered his career.

Jennings has not averaged double-digits in scoring since the injury and has suited up for four teams the past two seasons. His last NBA stint came with the Wizards last season, averaging a career-worst 3.5 PPG in 23 games.

The former 10th overall pick started the 2017/18 season with the Shanxi Brave Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association but was waived in early December.
