Wizards Sign Carrick Felix

SEPTEMBER 11: Felix’s deal with the Wizards is official, per RealGM’s NBA transactions log.

SEPTEMBER 9: The Wizards are signing swingman Carrick Felix to a training camp deal, according Chris Reichert of 2Ways10Days.com (Twitter link).

A former second round pick of the Cavaliers in 2013 (33rd overall), Felix has considerable experience in the G League. He has made G League appearances for affiliate teams of the Nets, Cavaliers, and Warriors.

Felix, 27, made his lone NBA experience came during the 2013/14 season, appearing in seven games for the Cavaliers. He averaged 2.7 PPG in just over five minutes per game. Felix was traded to the Jazz that offseason and was eventually waived.

The Wizards currently have 18 players under contract, but have also reached reported agreements with Felix and Kris Jenkins, which would take their roster count to 20, the offseason maximum.

Bucks Waiving Jalen Moore

10:44am: Moore tells Matt Velasquez of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he asked to be released from his contract because of anxiety issues (Twitter link). Moore said he wants to get help with that problem before pursuing an NBA career.

10:01am: The Bucks have requested waivers on Jalen Moore, who signed a two-way contract July 8, the team announced via Twitter.

Milwaukee signed former Celtics guard James Young to a training camp deal this week, so it’s possible the team is considering him for the open two-way spot. Bronson Koenig has the Bucks’ other two-way contract. The Bucks now have 17 players under contract for training camp, but only 13 have guaranteed money.

Moore, who played for Milwaukee’s entry in the Las Vegas Summer League, was an All-Mountain West selection last season at Utah State. The 6’8″ forward averaged 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds as a senior and shot 38.3% from 3-point range.

Cavs Sign John Holland To Two-Way Contract

SEPTEMBER 8: The Cavs have officially signed Holland to the first two-way contract in franchise history, the team announced today in a press release.

SEPTEMBER 7: The Cavaliers have agreed to a deal with John Holland, international basketball reporter David Pick tweets. The small forward was a training camp invitee of the Cavs last year, as well.

While Holland put forth an impressive campaign in the G League last season, his only previous taste of regular season NBA action came in 2015/16 when he played one lone minute in one single game for the Celtics (during which he hoisted and missed a three).

More recently, while suited up for Cleveland’s minor league affiliate in Canton, the 28-year-old took home the Impact Player of the Year award for 2016/17 and earned nod on the league’s All-NBA G League Third Team.

While the terms of the agreed upon deal haven’t been disclosed, it’s possible that the Cavs slot Holland into one of their vacant slots for two-way players (Update: Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com has since confirmed as much).

Magic Re-Sign Damjan Rudez

The Magic have re-signed 31-year-old forward Damjan Rudez, the team announced in a press release. His deal, per Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, is non-guaranteed.

In 45 games with Orlando last season, Rudez played just 7.0 minutes per game but his largest contributions to the young roster will presumably come in other areas. The forward is regarded as a positive influence in the locker room and his skillset as an adept three-point shooting big man is in vogue.

The addition of Rudez brings Orlando’s roster to 19 players but his stiffest competition for the 15th spot will likely be summer signing Khem Birch, Robbins writes.

Pacers Sign DeQuan Jones To Camp Deal

SEPTEMBER 7: The Pacers have officially signed Jones, per RealGM’s log of NBA transactions.

SEPTEMBER 6: DeQuan Jones will sign a training camp deal with the Pacers, tweets Chris Reichert of 2 Ways and 10 Days.

The 27-year-old small forward has previous NBA experience with the Magic in 2012/13. He appeared in 63 games, averaging 3.7 points in 12.7 minutes per night.

Jones has a history with the Pacers, playing for their entry in the Orlando Summer League in 2014. He was with the Hawks for training camp last fall, but was cut before the season started and signed with the Chiba Jets in Japan. He later joined Lille Métropole in France. Jones has also played in Italy and the G League.

Pacers Sign Trey McKinney-Jones

SEPTEMBER 7: The deal is now official, according to RealGM’s NBA transactions log.

SEPTEMBER 6: The Pacers will sign 6’5″ shooting guard Trey McKinney-Jones to a training camp contract, tweets Chris Reichert of 2 Ways and 10 Days. This comes after news just broke that DeQuan Jones will be part of Indiana’s camp.

McKinney-Jones, 27, has never appeared in an NBA regular season game and spent most of his career with the Pacers’ G League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. He has also played overseas in France, Israel and Hungary.

The two signings will bring the Pacers up to 19 players in camp, one under the league maximum. Only 13 have guaranteed salaries, so there will be opportunities for both Joneses to earn a roster spot.

Pistons Sign Dwight Buycks To Two-Way Deal

SEPTEMBER 7: Buycks’ deal with the Pistons is now official, according to agent Chris Patrick (Twitter link).

AUGUST 29: The Pistons have agreed to sign free agent point Dwight Buycks, Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders writes. Chris Reichert of 2Ways10Days adds that Buycks’ deal is a two-way pact (Twitter link). The journeyman guard last played in China following stints with the Raptors and Lakers.

In six games with Los Angeles three years ago, Buycks averaged 8.7 points and 2.3 assists per game in just over 20 minutes of action. Now the 28-year-old will look to break camp as the third point guard behind Reggie Jackson and Ish Smith, a role that Beno Udrih held in 2016/17.

Buycks went undrafted out of Marquette in the 2011 NBA Draft but has thrived on and off in the G League and internationally over the course of the past half decade.

Earlier this summer, Buycks suited up for the Mavs’ team in the Orlando Summer League.

James Young Signs With Bucks

Free agent guard James Young has agreed to a training camp contract with the Bucks, the team announced on its website.

The 22-year-old played for the Celtics during his three NBA seasons, but spent much of the first two years in the G League. Young was the 17th pick in the 2014 draft, but never lived up to expectations in Boston, appearing in just 89 games over three years. He won a training camp battle for a roster spot last fall, but was used in only 29 games during the season, averaging 2.6 points in 7.6 minutes.

He joined the Pelicans’ summer league team, but hadn’t found a new NBA opportunity until today. He attended a mini-camp in Milwaukee last week, along with several other veteran free agents.

Hawks Sign Josh Magette To Two-Way Contract

SEPTEMBER 6, 2:34pm: More than two months after it was first reported, the Hawks have issued a press release formally announcing their two-way deal with Magette.

JUNE 29, 6:51pm: Magette’s deal with the Hawks will be a two-way contract, Chris Reichert of Two Ways, 10 Days clarifies. Read more about two-way contracts in our glossary.

JUNE 29, 4:58pm: The Hawks have come to terms on a contract with undrafted free agent Josh Magette, Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype tweets, the deal is for the 2017/18 campaign although further details are currently unclear.

The 27-year-old point guard has been a Summer League mainstay over the course of the past five years but hasn’t seen any action with a big league club during the regular season.

Magette was an All-Star in the NBA D-League in 2016/17 and was named to the All-NBA D-League Second Team for his efforts with the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Hawks Sign Quinn Cook

SEPTEMBER 6: The Hawks have officially signed Cook, the team announced today in a press release.

AUGUST 20: The Hawks have come to terms with Quinn Cook on a two-year deal, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical (Twitter link). The contract will only be partially guaranteed.

Back in 2010, Cook was one of the top high schoolers in the nation and he decided to go to Duke to play under Mike Krzyzewski. He spent four years at the program before entering the 2015 draft, though he was not selected.

Cook played in the G-League during the 2015/16 season where he earned Rookie of the Year honors. He showcased great range, knocking down 86 three-pointers during the campaign.

The following year, he made his NBA debut on a 10-day contract with the Maverick. During that deal, owner Mark Cuban told Hoops Rumors that the team was impressed with the guard’s play. However, Dallas decided not to bring him back and he joined the Pelicans a couple weeks later, remaining with the franchise for the rest of the year.
