Pistons Sign Andre Drummond

The Pistons have signed first-round pick Andre Drummond, reports Keith Langlois of Pistons.com (via Twitter). Detroit selected the former UConn star with the ninth overall pick in the June draft.

Drummond will earn approximately $2.4MM during his first year in the league if he signs for the full 120% allowed by the rookie scale amount. The 18-year-old center averaged 10 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in his lone season with the Huskies.

Bucks Sign John Henson

The Bucks have signed first-round pick John Henson, the team announced today. Milwaukee selected the former North Carolina star with the 14th overall pick in the June draft.

The two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year averaged 10.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in 109 career games with the Tar Heels. Henson will earn approximately $1.8MM during his first year in the league if he signs for the full 120% allowed by the rookie scale amount.

Sixers Notes: Landry, Hickson, Humphries

Earlier this afternoon, the 76ers saw one of the mainstays of their 2011/12 rotation agree to sign with an Eastern Conference rival, when Lou Williams reached an agreement with the Hawks. The Sixers continue to do free agent shopping of their own, however. As the team prepares to ink Nick Young to his one-year deal and amnesty Elton Brand, here's the latest out of Philadelphia:

Offer Sheets To Watch

Restricted free agents that have agreed to sign offer sheets with new teams can begin doing so as soon as 11:00pm CST tonight. When a player officially signs an offer sheet, his old team has a three-day window to decide whether or not to match it and bring him back.

When a player formally signs an offer sheet, it means only two options are in play for him: He either ends up on the team whose offer he signed, or returns to his old club. Sign-and-trades are no longer an option. So, for restricted free agents like Eric Gordon and Nicolas Batum, who seem to prefer to change teams, it may be worthwhile to explore sign-and-trade possibilities once more before locking into those offer sheets and putting their futures in the hands of the Hornets and Trail Blazers, respectively.

Here are a few restricted free agents that reportedly agreed to sign offer sheets whose situations are worth keeping an eye on:

Sonny Weems Becomes Unrestricted Free Agent

3:11pm: Kennedy clarifies (via Twitter) that the Raptors have withdrawn their qualifying offer, but not necessarily renounced their rights to Weems. I'd expect that to be the next step, but either way, Weems is an unrestricted free agent.

2:49pm: The Raptors have withdrawn their qualifying offer and renounced the rights to Sonny Weems, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld (via Twitter). The move makes Weems, who was initially a restricted free agent, unrestricted and free to sign with any team.

Grant Hill Considering Lakers, Heat, Thunder

Although a report last week indicated that Grant Hill would either sign with the Lakers or retire, the veteran forward hasn't quite narrowed his options down that far yet, says David Aldridge of TNT. According to Aldridge, Hill is considering the Heat and Thunder in addition to the Lakers, and each team has returned interest in the 39-year-old.

Hawks Sign John Jenkins

The Hawks have signed first-round pick John Jenkins to a rookie scale contract, the team announced today (via Twitter). Atlanta selected the Vanderbilt shooter with the 23rd overall pick in the June draft.

The rookie scale amount for Jenkins' slot is slightly over $1MM, so the 21-year-old will earn a first-year salary worth a little more than $1.2MM if he signs for the full 120% allowed. Because first-rounders can sign during the moratorium, Jenkins' deal can be finalized immediately.

Bulls Will Not Retain Ronnie Brewer

The Bulls have informed Ronnie Brewer that they will not be guaranteeing his contract for the coming season, tweets K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. Brewer had a non-guaranteed contract worth $4.37MM for the upcoming season, which would have become guaranteed had Chicago kept him through today.

Brewer, 27, started 43 of 66 games for the Bulls this season, averaging 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 24.8 minutes per contest. He'll become an unrestricted free agent and will be free to sign with any team.

Grizzlies Shopping With Mini Mid-Level Exception

At the start of this year's free agent period, the Grizzlies were pursuing relatively big-name free agents such as Ray Allen, willing to offer the full mid-level exception. At the time, I expressed some skepticism that Memphis could offer the full $5MM mid-level if the team hoped to re-sign Darrell Arthur and Marreese Speights.

Sure enough, since agreeing to terms with both Arthur and Speights, the Grizzlies have turned their focus to the $3MM taxpayer MLE, says Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal. According to Tillery, Memphis is eyeing players like Jodie Meeks, Willie Green, and Jordan Farmar.
