FEBRUARY 28: The Sixers have officially signed Ilyasova, the team announced in a press release. Assuming the contract is a rest-of-season, minimum salary deal, Ilyasova will count as approximately $357K towards the cap.
FEBRUARY 25: Ersan Ilyasova plans to sign with the Sixers once his buyout with the Hawks is complete, tweets Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
The 30-year-old stretch four played 53 games for Philadelphia last season before being traded to Atlanta at the deadline. He is having a typically productive season for the Hawks, averaging 10.9 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting .359 from 3-point range.
Ilyasova is making $6MM is the final year of his contract, but with about three quarters of the season gone, the buyout cost should be minimal. He will have to work out the arrangement with Atlanta by Thursday to be eligible to join the Sixers for the postseason.
Philadelphia, which already added former Hawk Marco Belinelli after a buyout, has a full roster and will have to waive someone before signing Ilyasova.

Trust the process
Nothing says “playoff ready” like signing two guys from the worst team in the league.
Two guys that were productive despite really being bench players. They’ll be perfect for a young team that needs a boost and experience.
Yea signing a starter and a sixth man off of one team to be the 8th and 9th men off the bench is such a bad thing.
Not to mention Ilyasova compliments Dario well and Belinelli is a poor-man’s Redick. It lets Brown mix up the lineups in game and not have to change up the game flow with it.
Who peed in your cheerios?
2 years ago, those same type of players refused to come here. It’s good to be on this side of the process.
Yes. He’s a great mentor to help Saric too
Do the Sixers have enough roster spots ?
Not yet. Trevor Booker is likely to be bought out before Ilyasova officially signs
Booker not going anywhere morelike Bayless
Booker is on an expiring contract while Bayless has another year left and Ilyasova plays the same position as Booker. Bayless is more likely to be traded in a salary dump in the offseason.
They probably just waive Booker. But Bayless is an offseason trade. Otherwise his salary next year goes against your cap for nothing. You need to package a few of those 2nd round picks with him for nothing. That is the path to signing 2 key FAs next year if they really want to go after LBJ. They would be able to land both LBJ and CP3 potentially with just moving Bayless. Depending on how much CP3 demands to be paid. But current salaries it works.
Bayless wasn’t going anywhere. Booker was released.
So much for that “losing culture”.
Sixers fans were right, this team is a budding powerhouse.
Johnson is your Defensive reserve forward… Booker has been that offensive spark plug forward. I’d swap Ilyasova for Booker. Better overall game. VORP .4 Booker vs .6 Ilyasova vs 1.0 Johnson. Let’s get it done.
For what Ilyasova loses on defense, he gains in shooting and TAKING CHARGES. Love the hustle lol. Good guy too.
I thought he’d fit better on IND.
He played great with Embiid last year and was important for the growth of Saric. Love the move to bolster the bench unit
