Anthony Bennett Signs With Rockets

JULY 25: The Rockets have officially signed Bennett, per RealGM’s log of NBA transactions.

JULY 12: Forward Anthony Bennett has agreed to a non-guaranteed contract with the Rockets, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweets.

Bennett would appear to be a long shot to make the 15-man roster.

The No. 1 overall pick of the 2013 draft bided his time in the G League last season with the Agua Caliente Clippers. He appeared in 25 games last season and averaged 12.2 PPG in 20.9 MPG. He played in 35 G League games the previous season.

After the Cavaliers gave up on him, Bennett played for the Timberwolves, Raptors and Nets. He also played in Turkey for part of the 2017 season. In 151 NBA games, Bennett has averaged 4.4 PPG in 12.6 MPG.

Ahh..I totally want Bennett to get a job. I saw him play for the Maine Red Claws a few times, and he actually plays hard. Dude doesn’t give up!

I can respect a man still trying to prove himself even after everyone else has given up on him.

Yeah way to go Rockets! Better hope you don’t cross paths with the Warriors in the 1st round (with Klay back), otherwise, the Dubs might just launch you Rockets out of the NBA playoff atmosphere…again lolz.

Hornets could’ve had Giannis, McCollum or Adams in that draft….took Cody ******* Zeller

Wish the Cavs took Cody. Or most anyone besides Bennett. The CLE GM at the time didn’t even like Bennett. Future GM Griffin talked him into it. Clever clever Griffin.

Bennett will likely never be a star, but I hope he gets another chance in the NBA. No one wants to be thought of as the worst ever #1 pick. I hope he can at least do enough with the rest of his career to rise above that label.

He actually increased his 3pt% from a terrible 26% in the NBA to 42% in the G League last two years. He has a chance to stick with the Rockets if he can shoot the three like that.
