The Pistons have waived recently-acquired center Dewayne Dedmon, James Edwards III of The Athletic tweets.
Detroit officially acquired Dedmon from the Hawks on Friday and sent out wings Tony Snell and Khyri Thomas in the deal. However, the Pistons had no intention of keeping Dedmon, who has a $13.3MM guaranteed contract in 2020/21.
Dedmon also had a $13.3MM salary for ’21/22 but it was only guaranteed for $1MM. Detroit is expected to use the stretch provision to distribute the cap hit over five seasons. Dedmon would only count $2.9MM per season against the Pistons’ cap if his salary is stretched.
Dedmon, 31, appeared in a combined 44 games with the Kings and Hawks last season. He’s averaged 6.4 PPG and 6.0 RPG in 18.3 MPG over 394 career games.

He’s not trash. He was a back up center for the Spurs when they went to the WCF. He won’t have hard time finding a new team. At least he’s not often injured like Hayward and his 30 mill contract!

If a team signs him, who is responsible for the contract? Pistons regardless?
The Pistons could save a little money if he signs with another team for more than the minimum. But yeah, they’ll still be on the hook for most – if not all – of his remaining guaranteed salary.

Dedmon could take Howard’s place as the bruiser to go up against center the Lakers need to manhandle like the Joker.
He’s bought out. Means his owed that money from Pistons. Doesn’t matter what he signs for, he’s a FA. Heat, Celtics, Warriors, Bucks, Clippers should all be after him.
The Pistons went from 6 Centers to 4 Centers quickly.
Dedmon will find another team. He’s a hard working back up centre that can stretch the floor and block shots.
Similar to Aaron Baynes but just hasn’t had the hype or attention. Would be a solid fit for the Clippers, Celtics, Warriors, Jazz, Rockets or Suns

Spurs should sign him. Teams that missed out on Ibaka should probably also be interested in him, but everyone knew he would be available, and still signed certain pieces, so I guess that tells you something
Warriors can’t go with a Rookie at center. If they want to contend. I’m big on Wiseman. Let’s face it he’s 19 yrs old. Can’t see why Warriors wouldn’t get a solid vet. That you know will give you 18-24 mins a gm. It helps Wiseman and the team. They should be first in trying to sign him. That’s what I do.

He would be a very good #3 center for the Rockets behind Wood and Cousins.
They could even use Wood some at PF if both Dedmon and Boogie got playing time.
nah. woods gonna start at PF and tat means pj is prob gonna get benched lol at least that means they have more size and versatility. Also, even if boogie is still injured, they got caboclo who used to be with memphis until they got anderson who is cant shoot threes where he finally got a chance and gets double doubles almost every night and is a decent shot blocker too even tho hes only 6’9 remidns me of bismack biyombo. that means rockets might not get him.
bucks could land him since they need a backu p since lopez is getting old and dj wilson is trash on defense and is inconsistent. just either trade dj for another PF or wing or just buyout him and stretch his contract. then sign him to a minimum or a multiyear depends if hes like his old self well being on a championship contender could prob help him be even better cuz last few years hes been on very trash teams.
