Karl-Anthony Towns Suffers Dislocated Wrist

Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns has suffered a dislocated wrist (left perilunate subluxation), the team announced in a medical update. The injury was revealed during further examination with a hand specialist on Sunday.

Towns, who sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s contest against Utah, will be examined on a week-by-week basis going forward. There’s optimism that it won’t be a long-term absence for the 25-year-old, but he’s expected to miss several games, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Towns is averaging 22.6 points and 11.5 rebounds through the team’s first two contests of the season. He originally left Saturday’s game after falling hard on his wrist, but later returned to help Minnesota secure a 116-111 victory.

“I didn’t want to just quit the game and go get X-rays and stuff,” Towns said, as relayed by Chris Hine of The Star Tribune. “I wanted to be available in case my team needed me, and just be out there cheering them on. I did what I had to do.”

Towns fractured the same wrist last season, though he won’t need surgery on this injury, according to the team. He played 35 games in 2019/20, averaging 26.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per contest. This includes a 51% shooting mark from the floor and 41% mark from deep.

Same wrist —— not good. Make sure he’s right before you bring him back.

Poor kid. Rough year for the guy. Gonna go out and get a KAT jersey. Rooting for him.

Poor KAT it’s been a trying season for us all, but to lose so many members due to covid and have your professional career be in limbo, one questions if he pulls a Barry and retires by 30. Some players don’t have the drive anymore, once you’re most vocal supporter and best friend isn’t there anymore. I hope he’s okay mentally, but I’m worried. Praying for your mental state KAT.

Exactly, you can tell he’s battling something that none of us can fathom. I’m hoping his team takes those quotes seriously and helps him “recover”. One of the good dudes in the NBA.

Battle through it and produce some wins towns is being paid 30 mil a season and the wolves are not winning that utah game they showed heart and toughness against the lakers they folded,a bunch of roll players and old lebron beat em down if towns was playing it would not have made a difference hernangomez was a waste of money and beasley got too much

    Tough for Minn

BTW KAT is averaging 19.0 and 11.5 thru 2 games – article says 22.6 and 11.5

I would not rush him back. Like other poster wrote. He’s gone thru a lot with family. Plus it’s same wrist he injured last yr. Take your time KAT. Get healthy and strong. Minny has looked gd. I would sign a center.

    Oh boy!
Come on KAT, the poor guy can’t catch a break!
League ain’t the same without him dominating!
    Get well soon!

Just when, as a Wolves lifer, the first 2 games of the season were starting to make you feel good or at least have fun… hope KAT can recover quickly.

GSW gets the Wolves unprotected 1st round pick – after seeing Toronto cheer KD and Klay getting hurt, I have no problem hoping the Wolves have an injury-plagued season so the Warriors can get their potential #1 pick in next years loaded draft. No offense to Minnesotans, you can blame terrible Toronto sports fans for cheering injuries, they set the bar here.

Awful year for KAT, maybe he should have just stayed in bed until 2021.

    • Unprotected? Marty you need to keep up-to-date on Warriors news. There’s several great websites you could read and they have all kinds of Warriors news.

Plus you could also keep checking back here. Many informed Warriors fans comment on this site so Hoopsrumors another great place for up-to-date Warriors news. Check it out sometime.

They are doing it so it’s okay doesn’t make it right. Have some moral fortitude and think for yourself. You don’t want these guys getting hurt or their careers being threatened, especially if they are a good person. I can see you not caring for their wellbeing if they beat their wife or gf, killed someone while driving drunk, etc…

Should have drafted Wiseman towns is as good as gone,he is looking out of shape ,reid is looking great but is not as good as towns and mr russell sucks we need to get rid of both of them while we can because towns is a sissy he might harp on the loses he has suffered and play poorly all year and we loose anyway now with him out i doubt we win a game ,i only predicted 25 to 30 wins anyway.

I think ya trade Russell and towns and start allover that young dude culver looks to be o.k. and edwards is i dont know but he takes a lot of shots that he missed that i would have made, culver rubio beasley and get 2 new starters and edwards okogie hernangomez and reid come off the bench
