Kings Sign Norvel Pelle To 10-Day Deal; Hassan Whiteside In Protocols

FEBRUARY 25: The Kings have officially signed Pelle to a 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release. The deal, worth $99K, will cover the club’s remaining five games in the first half.

FEBRUARY 24: Center Norvel Pelle, who played three games for the Nets earlier this month, will join the Kings on a 10-day contract, tweets James Ham of NBC Sports California. Sacramento needs help in the middle because Hassan Whiteside will miss time due to health and safety protocols, Ham adds.

Pelle signed with Brooklyn in late January to help bolster a frontcourt that had been depleted in the trade for James Harden. He averaged 2.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 9.3 minutes per night, and was released last week to make room for Andre Roberson.

Pelle, 28, is currently with the Canton Charge at the G League bubble in Orlando.

Whiteside’s status was listed on the Kings’ official injury report released today for Thursday’s game, according to Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee. The team didn’t provide any further details, and it’s not clear if he tested positive for COVID-19 or is just affected by contact tracing.

Very interested to see if Whiteside gets traded or released. If I was Celtics I trade for him now. Can’t be much, especially if you get a title run.

I hope with Barnes! Sac brought a flexibility salary cap and picks. Don’t to to high contracts

Funny how you mention BOS & a title run in the same comment… as right now BOS ain’t a playoff team, right?

If the prize is a lottery pick then Boston is definitely competitive

You’re awfully optimistic assuming the Celtics will make the playoffs.

It’s to early to tell maybe a 8 th seed who knows besides Tatum sucks and chokes in the playoffs when they had kyrie he took them to the ecf and Tatum just got lucky this year but sucked against Miami

        • Julian Lemus

The contenders are 76ers nets clippers jazz bucks I mean u never know a 6 th seed could make the wcf or ecf u don’t know but if boston star players are out for the season the Boston is gonna be 13 th seed who knows about as what if he tears his acl and lebron gets injured and kuz is gonna have to step up but if he gets injured then lakers are not a show anymore

          • Julian Lemus

If ad tears his acl lebron gets injured then kuz then lakers are not making the playoffs

AD didn’t tear his ACL, but he did suffer an achilles injury.

Since then they’ve lost 5 of their last 6 games, their only win was by 8 points against the worst team in the NBA. Let’s see how much they fall in the standings before Davis comes back next month.

    Whaaaat???

I don’t follow NBA, but this is really weird to a baseball fan. 10-day deal? How short of a deal can you have in the NBA?

10 day deals are normal those are just designed for players who think they got enough upside and skills to become a franchise player but instead most of them r just g league calibers or past their prime players still vying for chance in the nba lol

    • osaegthong

sometimes they hardly even play a game on a 10 day deal and then off they go lmao
