The Bulls won’t pick up their $3MM team option on Ryan Arcidiacono for the 2021/22 season, reports K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago (Twitter link).
Arcidiacono has been a Bull for the last four seasons, but had his role reduced this past year, playing a career-low 10.2 minutes per game in 44 regular season contests. He averaged 3.1 PPG, 1.5 RPG, and 1.3 APG in his limited role, with a .419/.373/.650 shooting line.
Because he has four years of NBA service, Arcidiacono isn’t eligible for a qualifying offer and will become an unrestricted free agent after having his option declined.
Johnson suggests that a return to Chicago on a minimum-salary deal is a possibility for Arcidiacono, but adds that the 27-year-old guard is expected to receive interest from some other clubs as well.
I wouldn’t mind him coming back to Philadelphia for professional ball.

Probably an end of the bench guy, but as a get-your-uniform-dirty scrapper with a few years in the league and a championship pedigree at Nova, can he fit as a very affordable Thibs-style player in NY, helping their young PGs?

Agreed. Arcidiacono plays hard and carries himself as a pro should. But the Bulls weren’t receiving $3 million per season of production and talent. As someone else already pointed out, Arcidiacono is a ‘salary minimum end of the bench’ player for some team.
As you pointed out, look at who GarPax were paying in their last season in the front office. $28 million to Otto Porter, $20 million to Jabari Parker, $8 million to Felicio. In the end, GarPax did some bad evaluating of players.
He is a scrapper. Might thrive under Thibs in NY, he is the Guard Whisperer – although that didn’t seem to help Ntilikina.
