September 14: Brown’s deal with the Nuggets is official, per RealGM’s transactions log.
September 12: The Nuggets have agreed to a deal with Moses Brown, reports Michael Scotto for HoopsHype (via Twitter).
The terms of the contract were undisclosed, but it is expected to be an Exhibit 10 training camp deal, given that the Grand Rapids Gold – Denver’s G League affiliate – recently acquired Brown’s returning rights in a three-team trade.
Brown has played six years in the NBA and holds career averages of 5.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks in 11.7 minutes per night.
He spent the majority of last season with the Westchester Knicks, averaging 17.9 points and 15.7 rebounds per game across 35 G League outings. He also played four games for the Mavericks, with whom he averaged 11.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 18.3 minutes per contest.
The Nuggets added Jonas Valanciunas this summer, as well as getting sophomore big man DaRon Holmes II back from the Achilles tear that caused him to miss his rookie season. They currently have one spot available on their projected 15-man regular season roster, but may not fill it right away due to their proximity to the luxury tax line.
Every season, like clockwork, somebody grabs him for the end of the bench. Kinda wanna see him get a real extended shot at a rotation role. I’m rooting for him.
He never put up those numbers. He was still healing for two yrs. I think he is ready. Great place to learn from Jokic. Rooting for him NYC kid.
When you say you want to see a guy get a real shot you have to realize these guys are at practice and workouts every single day during the season.
If a guy has potential or ability, there’s going to be one of the 20 coaches that will see it and say something.
All that to say if a guy is borderline NBA material, there’s a reason for that.
7-2 and decent G league stats will get you an opportunity for a tryout. That’s fantastic. If you expect more than that, then I think it’s more hope than reality at this point.
Coaches depend on their scouts. Coaches don’t get a real look until they see them in practice everyday. The coaches job is to win games and coach the big squad. Not to look for guys who could help ….. players when drafted get tagged a certain way. Need this need that no attitude no motor. But all have talent otherwise they wouldn’t be drafted. Before talking about a player. You should look up his history. Moses was one of best HS centers in the country. But was hurt and misdiagnosed for his injury. And took longer to heal. Last yr is first year he really started to show out. I know this cause he played for Knicks G-league team. All I am saying is. he is healthy now. He is a true center. Imo definitely can play his way into a backup role. So any team that needs a true center. Should be looking at 25 yr old Moses.
Al, based on what you’ve written above, I think you have a misunderstanding of NBA coaching staffs.
Out of those 20 coaches there’s a bunch of them that are scouting ahead, meaning they’re looking at future opponents maybe two weeks out and watching their games, analyzing all their players, and getting a read on how to beat them.
They’re not so much into helping the team win the game tonight.
They may interject opinions once or twice every other game but they sit behind the first row and their role is as I mentioned already.
Then 10 of those 20 guys are developmental guys. That’s not the head coach, that’s his number one defensive or offensive assistant.
These guys work with the players six days a week and try to develop their game, help them get better, encourage them, coach them, etc.
Dude I have played, coached, followed this game my whole life. I’m not a sports fanatic. I only follow the NBA. Sports isn’t rocket science. Just by the way you talk about your team. You got plenty to learn imo. Remember Wiggins …..
No coach is out scouting players to develop. Their job is to develop a winner. With players they got. Coaches only look at players before the draft. But know from their scouts who the players are. Have you ever seen a coach at NCAAs. Do you see them Europe or the G-league. All coaches know what they lack. And thats what their scouts try and find. Please don’t disrespect yourself by telling me what I don’t know about ball. Again — I doubt you know anything about Moses Brown. Yet you got answers. All I’m saying is he is healthy now. If you watched him last year in G-league. You can see he is a true C who deserves a good look. Try and do that. Instead of talking nonsense. Plenty of video out there.
Fair enough Al, I’m just trying to share some information among NBA fans. You get so uptight and defensive.
I also have played watched, followed NBA basketball my entire life. But I read everything including your comments because there’s so much to learn and so much to know that you can’t have it all figured out in one lifetime.
I have an open mind and I am here to learn things even from People who are not so great at having a conversation.
There’s a lot of knowledge out there, and I eagerly digest it all. I love this stuff even when there’s two paragraphs of garbage, there may be a nugget I did didn’t know. So I read it all.
Thank you for your comments Angry Al. I appreciate them.
Al, many scouts are independent contractors. They work for themselves quite a bit, travel, watch a gazillion basketball games live, take notes make analysis and provide that information to NBA teams.
Yes, it’s probably true that most teams have their own scouts, but they don’t sit behind the bench or wear team polo shirts. They’re on the road. Emailing reports.
I guess the term would be independent contractors. I don’t know how else to refer to these guys, but in lawyer speak maybe you could say these guys are on retainers? They’re not employees but they’re an arms length away? Hopefully all this makes sense.
Many former bench coaches, assistant coaches, etc. do a part-time gig as scouts after they retire, or have been fired. They’ll send reports to their former employer and get paid.
They’re not really employees of the team anymore, but they trust these guys to provide the information the team is looking for because of their history, trust and individual Expertise or ability.

Michael Scotto: The Denver Nuggets and Moses Brown have agreed to a deal, sources told @hoopshype . He finished last season with the Mavericks, averaging 11.8 points and 7.8 rebounds in four games. He averaged 17.9 points, 15.7 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks for the Westchester Knicks in the G League.“”””””
How could Warriors pass on this guy AGAIN ……
You would rather have Payton than Moses …..
Considering they brought In Valanciunas. Makes me wonder why they would sign Brown. Talk about big man depth lols. Warriors 😴
Don’t you mean. How could the Trail Blazers, Thunder, Mavericks, Knicks, Cavaliers, Pacers, Clippers pass on this guy? Why didn’t the Knicks or Nets want him being that he was an NYC guy?
Celtics too lol, had him for a month one offseason before flipping him for Josh Richardson
Thing is most fans don’t understand. He was hurt and didn’t heal for a long time. He was misdiagnosed. Last year was his first real yr. He just deserves a good look. Especially by teams that need a center …….
Why must you take this personal. Warriors are the team that needs a true center the most. If you don’t think so. What does have to do with any other team.
Knicks did take him. They nursed him back to health. Two yrs in their system. And for that reason he has his chance now. Yet all you got is hurt feelings for a fading Warrior team.
Knicks need help at PF defense. This is their Achilles heal imo. Someone to watch Towns back. You can talk all you want about that. You won’t be wrong. I wouldn’t cry about it like Warriors fans do about getting a true Center.
Having Davey J as only Warrior fan wanting a big really says it all I guess.
You need to define what a “true center” is. Last time I looked, Post is a 7-footer. Brown is on a G league deal. The Warriors have had a bunch of 7-footers at Santa Cruz. So, what are you complaining about when they have already done that?
Thats my point. You just showed everyone on here.
You guys don’t even understand this.
You think I care about the Warriors lol. They are about to go out like Melo. Nobody will hear from them again.
Your run is over. You have NO young talent worth talking about. The only guy worth it. You are running him out of town.
All I am doing is showing you a guy who can help. Yet all you got is hurt feelings for your sorry team.
Yeah you know centers …. Post is your guy.
24 yrs old, listed as a PF — 16.3 mins, 3.5 reb, 8 pts. He is ok. NO rim protection. First yr in NBA ….
Yet you could add —- last yr 4 gms with Dallas.
18 mins, 8 rebounds, 12 pts. His first year healthy. Go look at his G league stats. He avg 17 rebs. A 7’ 2” rim protector. Look up what a rim protector means lmao. Yeah Warriors don’t need that.
Yeah you enjoy that.
So he’s signed but not Bol Bol???? Not Trey Lyles?
Lyles signed in Europe.
Trey lyles is not a NBA player anymore. Moses Brown is not either. For Moses Brown, he has no motor and he’s not a great rebounder shot blocker or lobcatcher so he really doesn’t have use in the NBA other than being a big body.
Trey lyles is a 4 in a 3 body. He can’t rebound or physically strong enough to push other fours out of position. And he can’t play the three because he doesn’t have a handle or the lateral quickness to guard out on the perimeter. I really like drayon coming out of highschool He didn’t do himself any favors, going to Kentucky and playing with all those draft picks because you learn a lot in college being the man on your team and learning how to get to different spots by dribbling. Getting your teammates involved and preparing to be on the scouting report. But when you play with that many top-level players and amateur basketball, it kind of takes away from your game if you’re not at the right school.
If you notice all the Kentucky players, none of them really lived up to the hype that they were supposed to live up to because they all played on the same team. There were a few phenoms so they did pretty good but those middle of the pack guys all them washed out of the NBA.
My dude… say what you want, tell me he’s a green ten-foot tall marshmallow from Mars, but do not say Moses Brown is not a rebounder.
I guess he doesn’t bother reading lol ….
“ Westchester Knicks, averaging 17.9 points and 15.7 rebounds per game across 35 G League outings. ”
Al the G league is not the NBA. Mac maclug is one of the best g league players out there and will never be a NBA player getting min. He is 25 years old already . I bet you 100 bucks he will not make the team. He is not a NBA player. That’s not to say he’s not good. It’s just the truth. There’s only 450 NBA players and it’s not easy to get in. I know first hand. So I do read. Bronny James is another player not a NBA player. But will score in the G league. There is a reason guys bounce around. And never stick. Now Brown goes overseas. He probably will play pretty well.
Yeah for a 7’ 2” it must be hard. Lol the best thing he got is rebounding. You know what it takes to do it. Have you ever watched him. Any true center best chance to play in NBA. Is as a rebounder, rim protector. He deserves a shot. Have to take advantage of it.
BeEzy, I think I also had the thought that Moses Brown wasn’t really a rebounder. I think maybe because he’s very tall and not built like Shaq I went with perception rather than fact.
Sure, it’s one thing to rebound in the G league, but if you look at his NBA stats, Moses can board in the big league as well.
Thank you for the info. You’re absolutely correct.
Lol. KY literally has more stars in the NBA than any other program. By a mile.
I never said they don’t have NBA player. I said many of them washed out. I could go through the list if you want. Of course the phenoms did well as in John wall call. Anthony towns Anthony Davis but if you underline all the other players that he really have long successful careers they shouldn’t have teamed up I didn’t help expand their games
Moses Brown played for UCLA
I was talking about Trey lyles
Its an exhibit 10. Its not really an NBA contract. In reality its a bonus for playing in the g league.
Now trade Zeke Nnaji, Pickett, Tyson and picks to anyone for salary relief and a 2nd
Not a Nuggets fan but this team has gotten much better. It worries me
Sign Moses Brown, Edwards and Russell Westbrook to standard contracts. Sign a young C prospect (Holmes to PF) on a two way contract with Bates and Jones (pick a Jones)
A- off season
Clearly you didn’t watch Westbrook last season.
He would be there for maybe his last rodeo and maybe win a ring on the way out. Mostly veteran leadership. Role player minutes
Again, clearly you didn’t watch Westbrook last season.
I’m talking about him playing bench minutes, 3rd string PG but if you say he is completely washed up and cannot offer anything then okay.
Cam Johnson, Valanciunas, Zeke Nnaji, Pickett, Tyson, cash and every unprotected 1st they can to LAL for LeBron James and LeBron James Jr
Sign Moses Brown, Edwards, DeAndre Jordan and Russell Westbrook to contracts. Bates, Curtis Jones and a C prospect on two way contracts
You must be crazy. LeBum is out of the league next year.
I am a little crazy to be honest.
LeBum is still a upgrade over Cam Johnson
Are you saying Cam Johnson is better than LeBron right now?
And I am a LeBron hater
It’s closer than you think.
I agree but LeBron definitely over Cam
Why 60% of social media or worse. Is all about the glass is half empty. Is just unfortunate and disappointing. But when it comes to young people trying to make it at the pro level. It Is just true hating. And it just says more about YOU than the player you trash. Why would you want someone you don’t even know or follow to fail. I get there are some who don’t deserve it. Anyone with real talent deserves a chance to fail on their own terms. I am a basketball fan not a hater. I hope for the best in people. I root for the talent to come out. For the talent to win.
It’s interesting that some people call other people “haters.” That’s a term of the youth and it’s wrong. Disagreement is not hate. Don’t fall for the false vernacular.
My desire as a basketball fan of the Golden State Warriors and the NBA in general is to have the best players. Everyone deserves a shot not just some guys.
When one guy is not good enough there’s 100 ready to take his place. May the best man win.
May the best man work hard.
May the best man improve the most.
And may the best man seize his opportunities when presented.
Keep your posts to basketball and not other posters. I’ve been tempted to point that out the last few weeks since you lied about that again. But I refrain and I try my best though not always successful, to keep it to basketball, but sometimes we don’t always do what we strive for. We slip. So benefit of the doubt to all.
Best players.
They deserve it not someone else. Someone else deserves equal shot not because he came from a certain neighborhood. All neighborhoods deserve the same equal shot at a spot.
A lot of people do not understand that the warriors defense is a tough defense to learn. You can’t just take a 7 footer and think he can learn it. Do teh warriors need anotehr injury prone center? No they need a big man they can count on.
Yeah ok ….. 7 footers just got to NBA.
arc you are full of excuses lol. Rim protection can only be done by a true big. Warriors had that their first three chips. Not rocket science lol. 15 pkayers on an NBA roster ….. you should be thankful I try to help Kerr ……
Moses is a project and not going to come onto a team and be a huge piece of any team. The warriors already have a center in Post who has a better jump shot than Brown has. Warriors need a big enforcer type of big man. Who knows bo rown could be playing for Santa Cruz warriors in the G league
Every Warriors fan on here has hated on Wiseman.
Every Warriors fan on here has hated on Kuminga.
Every Warriors fan in here has hated on Wiggins before the trade. And then after the chip.
And we can pull all that up if you like.
Where I’m from — we call that front runners and entitled little minds. This isn’t basketball love to me.
Nothing wrong with criticizing your own team.
Real fans understand the ups and downs of sports teams. Seems to me like all you just became Warriors fans when you won your first chip. Always good to win. Real fans know most of this is about finding talent building winners. Thats where the real work is.
You keep it civil I keep it civil.
Civility: “Formal politeness and courtesy in behavior or speech.”
Sounds great Al, but I don’t know if you can be civil?
This very comment where you’re calling for civility is not civil in any way shape or form.
“Entitled little minds?”
“Every” Warriors fan this and that such and such?
Your next comment and reply to this will probably call me soft. That’s not being civil either. That’s being Angry Al.
YOU will determine how this moves forward. Good luck.
Al you are becoming a drama queen. I never hated on Wiggins still would love to see him back on the team. Warrior fans actually were disappointed Wiseman got traded but he always gets hurt. If he could ever play 82 games he could be valuable to a team. Kuminga is not hated just wish he was patient. Not feel he is an allstar and should be paid like a max player
You wonderful folks at Hoops rumors are so great at reeling us in. Thank you for that.
Sometimes I become someone I really don’t like. I’m grateful for you here who remind me that treating others as I would hope to be treated is the ultimate goal.
Thanks guys. Luke, you’re the best !!
