November 16: Anunoby will miss at least two weeks, which is when he’ll be reevaluated, reports Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).
November 14: Knicks forward OG Anunoby sustained a left hamstring strain in the first quarter of Friday’s game against Miami and will not return, the team announced (via Twitter).
According to Stefan Bondy of The New York Post (Twitter link), Anunoby appeared to suffer the injury while on a fast break. The 28-year-old grabbed at his hamstring after missing a layup and quickly exited the game.
Jordan Clarkson started the second half in Anunoby’s stead, tweets Ian Begley of SNY.tv.
While it’s unclear how much time Anunoby will miss, it seems somewhat ominous that he was diagnosed with a hamstring strain so soon after the injury occurred; typically, teams initially refer to soft tissue injuries as tightness or soreness rather than strains.
Anunoby, a one-time All-Defensive honoree, was off to an impressive start to the 2025/26 season, averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals through 11 games (33.5 minutes per contest). His shooting line over that span was .483/.397/.760.
Josh Hart, Landry Shamet and Clarkson are all candidates for more playing time with Anunoby out.
Star guard Jalen Brunson was out Friday as well after suffering a Grade 1 right ankle sprain late in Wednesday’s loss to Orlando. Head coach Mike Brown had a simple explanation for why Brunson was still playing with New York down 16 points with 1:54 remaining in the fourth quarter, as Peter Sblendorio of The New York Daily News relays.
“I’ve been a part of some crazy, crazy comebacks,” Brown said before Friday’s game. “I’m trying to win the game. A couple minutes left. A stop and two threes, and it’s a two-possession game. That’s all I was trying to do, is win the game.”
Miles McBride got the starting nod on Friday with Brunson sidelined.
This guy is brittle
That’s ridiculous. Guy plays harder than anyone and his style of play puts a pounding on his body. But this injury can happen to anyone at any time.
Just happens to him more than others. Thus the comment.
The guy is always injured and has never played 82 games once…
Luke 207:
He’s definitely missed games in his career due to injury, but how many players play 82 games? That’s a silly comment. By the way, he played 74 games last year so “always injured” is another silly comment on your part
They should all play 82. No excuses
Luke 207:
Well, that’s just ridiculous, thinking that a player will never miss any games the entire season.
I’m saying they should have pride to play 82 games. Tired of these fake injuries to sit games. Players of all past eras strive to play every game. These players today are just lazy
Luke 207:
But Luke, it’s not just pride and fake injuries. Players do get legitimately hurt. It’s not as physical of a sport as football or anything, but it is a physical sport. And there is a lot of running and movements the body doesn’t typically take. Over a long season a guy is going to miss at least a handful of games. So it’s unreasonable to expect the majority of players to play every single game.
It’s definitely not unreasonable to expect them all to play 82 games. This is the cupcake era. Broken fingernail -out two weeks
You should do some research on past players and the respect to play 82 games. Yeah it it’s a real injury then it’s understandable but they are all skipping and ducking each other. These athletes today don’t train and that’s why they are always injured
I’m going to use Wilt and Stockton as random examples. Wilt thought all the fans paid to see him so I’m going to play every possible minute because it’s my duty
Stockton played 19 years for Utah and 17 of those he played 82 games
Luke 207:
Yes, some players play all the games but to act like players in the past never got injured and played every game is ridiculous too. Besides, there’s a reason why things evolve the way they do. These players are a major investment now which they were not in the same way years ago. Teams are trying to protect their investment and guard against major injury as much as possible. You’re shaking your fist like an angry old man on the lawn.
Get well OG ……. we got you.
Knicks with UUUUUUuuuuuuuuugggge win tonight. Did I say we will sign Shamet and Diawara. When all the Knicks geniuses here were telling us about Brogdon ………. It’s good to be me lols. Try and watch Knick games to tell us about the Knicks. OK
The Knicks bench tonight 65 pts —
Clarckson 24 pts ….. MyGuy Shamet 36 pts
Come tell me about my Knicks ……. please .
Nobody was disputing either Landry or Diawara making the team. You’re taking self-imagined victory laps.
Let us know when Kolek or Dadiet do something relevant. Lol whoops both were DNP-CDs tonight. With Brunson and OG out. No time for excuses.
I don’t take things personal lol. I know who I am and quite content. I let your words answer yourself. Too many geniuses on here for me to care. All your answers are here documented. I just bring them back when called for. I have been here for years listening to geniuses. Most of them have already ran.
LOL meanwhile you write an essay half the time one of your “genius” documented answers gets brought up (at least on days you don’t decide to tuck tail and run). How’s KAT doing at Center btw? Oh right Robinson started (again) tonight and got praised by his coach for grabbing 8 ORBs in 14 mins.
If you were anywhere near as confident in your takes as you let on, you wouldn’t feel the need to bring them up for self-validation.
Anyone who thinks KAT is not a center. Is you.
A clueless gamer. Don’t know ball. 14 mins means what to you premature Eaact. Like I said you clown yourself. Mitch can only play center. Like I have said since we got Towns. I don’t believe in playing them. Doesn’t mean they can’t do it 8-10 mins once in a while. I don’t need Mike Brown to school me.
Mitch has played SIX games avg 16 mins. This year. And that means what ???? YDA
@Real – while MRs rebounds in 14 minutes are very impressive, you left one stat out that impacts the reason why KAT played center – MRs 5 fouls in 14 minutes. KAT in my opinion is better at center due to his ability to draw out the big guys from the lane and still drive in with his ability to dribble (he’s not bad for a big guys from the) and decent speed/first step. He may not be the defensive center he once was while in college (his rep at the time was defense along with Cauley-Stein), but I don’t think they traded for him to focus on defense. He can play PF, but in a smaller league he becomes more of a liability defensively on the outpost and that’s usually where he also picks up those dumb fouls he likes to collect.
Yet you were absolutely elated when the Knicks signed Brogdon.
When was that. I don’t even know you. What are you like a street worker. Just run up on everybody.
I’m a McBride guy. And like my post says about Brogdon. I welcome the challenge. So go run away and get more info that you can’t think of.
You might want to think about getting a hobby
I do laughing at you.
“It’s good to be me”<— It's one thing to be a screechy, pompous windbag, it's entirely another thing to express your opinions, "have already ran", like a 7th grade schoolyard blockhead. "If talk was criminal, you'd lead a life of crime because your mind is on vacation and your mouth is working overtime."
What is there to run from. Ignorance and false facts.
Posters who don’t know the difference of signing a player. And inviting a player to camp. Why exactly are you here. Have I hurt your feelings too .
EXACTLY.

“This is a roster that in the past has been in need of more ball handlers and more creators, more versatile players that can handle the ball,” Brogdon said. “I think I bring that. I can help guard.”
He is right with this statement. But Thibs wanted it that way. Bridges and McBride are both capable of doing that and have to. I like Brogdon attitude. Has to healthy though. I welcome the challenge. If he really is ready. Then he will push McBride to be better or out. A Mitch trade could happen sooner than later.
——————————————-
This clown claims “nothing is personal” yet changed his stance on an NBA player based entirely on his personal feelings (and here this buffoon is today, acting like he was on the polar opposite side of the fence). A few weeks later, nobody was more elated to see Malcolm Brogdon retire than him. He ain’t about the Knicks, he’s about himself. That’s why he hates being held accountable for the nonsense he writes.
He’s one of the few guys on this site I’ve muted. He prattles on and on about nothing, while claiming he knows everything.
I have to admit that I’ve muted a few myself.
Well I wouldn’t mute him you just need to debate him with actual facts. Other people in the post show if he’s right or wrong.
For the short term he is right against the heat. Do I believe the bench is that good and they’ll hold up for championship? Absolutely not. But for tonight he’s absolutely right. So if he wants to self-prclaim he will lose credibility. I was always taught. Let other praise you from their mouth not yourself.
Well its no debate. When you know the real facts.
Fake 2K is just a hater who can’t handle the truth.
I liked Landry from day ONE. He uses an espn article to sell Brogdon. Guess who was right.
The only ignorant clown is the fake tool. Who clamores for attention. I was never a Brogdon guy. But I Wellcome anyone who can help. Like The post says if he is healthy. I am up for challenge. Why wouldn’t you look at a healthy Brogdon. Turns out he wasn’t up for challenge. I only been saying Landry Shamet was our most consistent bench player last yr. sINE lAST YEAR.
So go find another one. Cause ALL YOU HVE DoNE. Is confirmed the genius you are. I have forgotten more ball you will ever know. YDA
You haven’t been right about anything with Knicks. You come here and push writers rumors and takes as fact. I push real knowledge that I see with my own eyes. Not someone else’s assumption. You don’t even bother to search it to see if its true. Like Towns being a 4 and starting Mitch. Beign a tool and a flamer suits you fine. Just make sure you wear non flammable gear. For alL thE TIMES YOu bUrn yourself.
Ignorance Clowns itself like you always do. Like right NOW
Wow this is getting good. I think AL was right on something and wrong on other. Bottom line Knicks are championship or bust and I don’t see them winning it all this year. 2nd the heat are not that good. They have a bunch of good pieces but they’re just missing a superstar. Pretty good win for the Knicks.
@2k and AL
We will see over the next few weeks what the Knicks are made of.
Some posters just can’t let it go. He wanted to make a big deal about Brogdon. By using an espn story. I backed Landry cause I watched him all last year. Yet I welcomed the challenge from Brogdon. Well who is here putting up 34 pts.
Al,
I don’t know how old you are but I’m just going to say this straight up. A lot of times it’s not even what you say. It’s how you say it. You’re not always 100% right? And the problem is is you won’t humble yourself when you’re not correct. And you speak as though you know everything when in fact there are things I can tell from your analysis. You’re not right on. If you are able to debate humbley and explain Your analysis it will go a long way of showing that you have some smarts and basketball.
To debate you should be able to use real facts. Or be able to defend your opinion or take. This is the internet and half these posters are not here for a true debate.
In this particular one. Fake 2K is a wannabe liar. Who got called out. And can’t handle it. He made a comment about Brogdon based on an article. I supported Landry based on watching him since a Knick. I don’t need writers takes to make a statement about a player I watch. He just can’t get that. Bringing Brogdon in gave him a Woody. So he made it a confrontation. Well we all know how it worked out. And I am just loving Landry showing us why.
I don’t care who you are. When you come at me with other peoples ideas or takes. Or just flat out lies. Then you are not really about the truth. And just a weak troller. I will let you know it.
Brogdon was the right choice if healthy. Obviously he wasn’t healthy so he needed to retire that left. Shamet as the next option. You like shamit but you’re going to see as the playoffs roll around and as we get into late in the season. Shamet is the third string guard. The East is pretty weak with bossing going down. Miami is actually not. A team is even considered to make the second round and probably a play in team. Orlando, Cleveland (even though I’m not big on Cleveland and you can go back to my post and see that I said that) 76ers (if healthy) and bucks are the only competition in the East. All the rest of the teams are a good story. I’m sure Detroit might make the second round and knock one of those teams out. If so, would be Cleveland or the sixers however just because your the top dog in your conference doesn’t mean you’re anywhere close to a championship. The fact of the matter is the Knicks and if you want to go back and forth I can break down film tape and break down an analysis of why they cannot be OKC, Denver or GS in the finals. They would have a better opportunity against Houston. However, if Houston gets a point guard at the trade deadline then they wouldn’t be able to beat Houston either. That doesn’t make them closed to a NBA championship because they’re playing in a weak conference right now.
Brown’s maths are terrible, right?
After a stop and a couple of 3s… they need 4 more stops and 3s!?!?!
OG is always injured. I’d rather still have RJ and IQ back on the team. I’m beginning to question OG durability. I feel the same about Mitch. That’s why I suggested OG and Mitch for Giannis or someone else
RJ and Quickley are probably better for the regular season, but OG is a ceiling raiser for a playoff team.
Hart didn’t really take off until RJ was out of the way, they’re too similar. IQ outplayed his salary slot the moment Brunson became an All-NBA guy. Tough to pay two small guards unless its Garland/Mitchell.
mlbnyyfan:
OG has certainly had injury issues in his career, but he played 74 games last year so “always injured” is a bit on the hyperbolic side. Players like RJ don’t contribute to winning. He’s a bad defensive player. Quickley is nothing special and he needed a new contract, which he is not earning. OG is much better as a fit for a team trying to win seriously.
The study of agnotology is fools here who think they know a team they don’t watch. Yet constantly want to tell us all about the team. “anti-intellectualism”
“Knick Geniuses” ……. The FaKe FankenSteins
Remember when everyone would blame Thibs when a Knick got injured?
Some of us still do
The convulsions haven’t subsided yet.
They blamed Thibs for everything lol. Going back to Chicago, Minny. Yet the only one true was him playing Knicks starters too long. Only they didn’t get him a bench. Thibs rebuilt Knicks and got them on right track. Haters hate. I will always be thankful of what Thibs did in NY.
What’s with all these hamstring injuries. I don’t think I have ever seen this many. To start the season.
Just glad it’s not serious. Get rest get well player.
Out till Nov 30 means he will miss 7gms. Knicks also down Brunson. Knicks bench will have to show up. I guess it’s good for the bench to get more time now. It will pay off later on ………. Get Well OG.
@Heat, @Mavs, @Magic, @Nets, @Hornets ……
Knicks update on Jalen Brunson …. Says he will miss next ten days. OG and Jalen both could be out extended time. So the bench has to step up now. No need to rush them back. link to heavy.com
