Eastern Notes: Bargnani, Micic, Sloan, Porter
Former fixture on the injury reports of both the Knicks and the Nets, Andrea Bargnani, has inked a deal to play overseas in Spain with Baskonia, Emiliano Carchia of Sportando reports (Twitter link). The agreement is for two years and contains opt outs for both sides, the report notes. Bargnani also reportedly drew interest from Turkey’s Darussafaka Dogus, who are now being coached by David Blatt. The 30-year-old made 46 appearances for Brooklyn last season and averaged 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per outing.

- Sixers draft-and-stash pick Vasilije Micic has signed a one-year deal with Tofas Bursa to play overseas in Turkey, Carchia also reports (on Twitter). The 22-year-old point guard was the No. 52 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
- Another former Nets player is headed overseas, with Donald Sloan inking a one-year deal worth approximately $2.5MM-$2.8MM with Guangdong of The Chinese Basketball Association, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders tweets. Sloan will have the opportunity to sign with an NBA club once the Chinese season concludes in late March/early April of 2017.
- The Wizards aren’t expected to ink forward Otto Porter to an extension this fall, preferring instead to see how he develops this season before committing to him for the long-term, J. Michael of CSNMid-Atlantic.com writes.
- Former NBA player Eric Maynor, who missed the entire 2015/16 campaign with a torn ACL, has signed with the Italian club Varese, international journalist David Pick relays (via Twitter). Maynor last appeared in the NBA during the 2013/14 season when he split time between the Sixers and the Wizards.
- The Celtics remain a team on the rise, with a deep roster and talented coach in Brad Stevens, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com writes, noting that the future is bright in Beantown in his look at the strengths of the team.
Hornets Sign Treveon Graham
The Hornets have signed unrestricted free agent Treveon Graham, the team announced. The length and terms of the arrangement were not relayed, though it is most likely a minimum salary deal with little or no guaranteed money.
“We were impressed by Treveon’s play last season in the D-League and followed him closely during his four-year career at VCU,” said GM Rich Cho. “We are excited to add someone with Treveon’s ability on both sides of the ball to our training camp roster.”
Graham appeared in 46 games for the Idaho Stampede in the NBA D-League during the 2015/16 season, averaging 15.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 30.4 minutes per contest. The swingman participated in summer league ball this offseason with the Jazz in Las Vegas and with the Magic in Orlando, earning 2016 All-Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League honors along the way.
Blazers To Re-Sign Maurice Harkless
Restricted free agent Maurice Harkless has agreed to a four-year, $40MM deal to re-sign with the Trail Blazers, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports. The pact will be fully guaranteed with no options and it could reach $42MM with incentives, Charania adds.
Several teams were reportedly interested in Harkless early in the free agent process, including the Wizards, Pistons, Lakers, Mavericks and Jazz. But instead he’ll return to Portland where he emerged as a valuable rotation player on an up-and-coming Blazers team after being acquired from the Magic via trade last summer.
Harkless appeared in 78 games for Portland last season, including 14 tip-offs as a starter. He averaged 6.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 18.7 minutes per outing, while shooting .474/.279/.622 from the field.

Clippers Sign Raymond Felton
JULY 25: The Clippers have made it official with Felton, announcing today (via Twitter) that the veteran point guard has signed his contract with the team. It’s believed to be a one-year, minimum-salary pact.
JULY 14: The Clippers and unrestricted free agent Raymond Felton have agreed to terms on a contract, Chris Haynes of The Northeast Ohio Media group reports (Twitter link). The length and terms of the arrangement are not yet known.
Interest had picked up in the veteran in recent days, as Haynes noted on Wednesday, with five teams expressing interest in signing Felton. The Clippers land themselves a solid backup to starter Chris Paul, and Felton now becomes the only other true point guard on the team’s roster.
The 32-year-old made 80 appearances for Dallas in 2015/16, averaging 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 27.4 minutes per outing.
Cavs Sign Chris Andersen
JULY 22: The Cavaliers have officially signed Andersen, the team announced today in a press release.
JULY 15: After finalizing a trade to send Sasha Kaun to the Sixers, the Cavaliers have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Andersen, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical (via Twitter). It’s a minimum-salary pact, tweets Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
JULY 8: The Cavaliers are nearing an agreement with veteran NBA big man and all-around entertaining locker room presence, Chris Andersen, Chris Haynes of The Northeast Ohio Media Group relays (on Twitter). Cleveland head coach Tyronn Lue noted during an appearance on NBA TV that the team was in the process of signing Andersen.
If Andersen does indeed join the defending NBA champs, he’ll reunite with former Heat teammate LeBron James. The big man will likely be signing with the team for the veteran’s minimum, though that is merely my speculation. Andersen should provide additional depth, energy and defense off the bench for the Cavs.
Andersen was dealt to the Grizzlies during the season and appeared in 20 games for Memphis after his arrival. He averaged 4.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 18.3 minutes per outing while shooting .548/.222/.688 from the field.

Bulls Sign Isaiah Canaan
JULY 20: The Bulls have formally announced their deal with Canaan. “We are excited to add Isaiah to our group,” GM Gar Forman said in a statement. “We feel his ability to knock down perimeter shots will be an asset to our team.”
JULY 12: The Bulls have reached a contract agreement with free agent Isaiah Canaan, Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops relays (via Twitter). It will be a two-year pact worth $2.2MM, Scotto notes, though it is unclear how much, if any, guaranteed money will be included.
Canaan become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after the Sixers declined to tender him a qualifying offer worth $1,215,696. Canaan was just two starts and 34 minutes away from triggering the starter criteria this past season, but as a result of a torn left labrum he failed to log the necessary numbers. The qualifying offer needed to make him a restricted free agent this offseason would have jumped to $2,725,003, had he met the criteria.
The 25-year-old appeared in 77 games this past season, including 39 as a starter, averaging 11.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 25.5 minutes per outing while shooting .360/.363/.833 from the field.
Mavericks Sign Quincy Acy
JULY 20, 10:35am: The Mavericks have officially signed Acy, the team announced today.
JULY 14, 5:20pm: The contract will be for the league minimum and include a team option for the second season, Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops tweets.
5:16pm: The Mavericks and unrestricted free agent Quincy Acy have come to terms on a contract, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports (Twitter link). It will be a two-year deal for the forward, Charania adds, but the scribe makes no mention of the amount of the pact, nor if it includes any guaranteed salary. Acy opted out of his minimum salary contract with Sacramento back in April.
Acy, who’ll turn 26 in October, averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game this past season, his second tenure with the Kings, who had him for most of the 2013/14 season. The Kings moved him in and out of the starting lineup this season, but he still wound up making 29 starts, his most ever.
He spent a year with the Knicks in between his stints with Sacramento, and Acy put up the best numbers of his career in 2014/15 with New York, averaging 5.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 18.9 minutes.
Nets Sign Joe Harris
JULY 19: The Nets have officially signed Harris, the team announced today in a press release. Per NetsDaily (Twitter link), it’s a two-year, minimum-salary pact that’s guaranteed for the first year. The second year becomes guaranteed for $250K if Harris is still under contract beyond October 31, 2017.
JULY 13: The Nets and unrestricted free agent Joe Harris have agreed to a contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports (Twitter link). It will be a two-year deal, according to Harris’ agency, Priority Sports (via Twitter). The amount of the arrangement is unknown, nor if it includes any guaranteed salary.
Brooklyn had to settle for Harris after missing out on Tyler Johnson and Allen Crabbe, whom they had signed to offer sheets early in free agency. The players’ respective teams matched the Nets’ offers, dashing GM Sean Marks‘ hope of rebuilding the team’s backcourt this offseason. Harris has failed to impress thus far in the league, but a new start under coach Kenny Atkinson may help to jumpstart his career.
The Magic waived Harris shortly after acquiring him via trade from the Cavaliers in January, with the shooting guard set to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his right foot. Harris is expected to be at full-speed when training camp begins. The 24-year-old only appeared in five contests for the Cavs this past season, averaging 0.6 points in 3 minutes of action per game. His career numbers through 56 regular season appearances are 2.5 points and 0.8 rebounds on 39.5% shooting.
