Cavaliers Add Olivier Sarr On Two-Way Deal
March 4: The Cavaliers have officially signed Sarr to a two-way contract, the team confirmed in a press release.
March 3: The Cavaliers and big man Olivier Sarr have agreed to a two-way deal, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link). To make room for Sarr, Cleveland has waived guard Darius Brown II.
Sarr played for the Thunder for parts of three seasons from 2021-24, averaging 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game across 46 outings, before spending last season in the G League. He was on the Raptors’ training camp roster last fall but was waived before opening night.
Sarr then joined Toronto’s G League club, the Raptors 905. Through 39 games, Sarr has averaged 11.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 23.7 minutes per contest.
Brown signed his two-way contract last week and it turned out to be a temporary stay. He’s played 36 games for the Cleveland Charge this season and will likely head back to that G League club.
Cavs Sign Darius Brown To Two-Way Deal
1:54 pm: The Cavaliers have officially signed Brown to a two-way contract and waived Miller, per the team. Brown will be eligible to be active for up to 15 regular season NBA games.
1:41 pm: Cleveland Charge guard Darius Brown II is getting a call-up from the Cavaliers, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link), who hears from agent Matt Slan that Brown and the Cavs have agreed to a two-way contract.
Brown, 26, has briefly been on Exhibit 10 contracts with the Cavaliers in each of the past two Octobers after going undrafted out of Utah State in 2024. He has appeared in a total of 78 games for the Charge, Cleveland’s G League affiliate, since going pro, and has become a fixture in the team’s starting lineup this season.
In 34 outings for the Charge in 2025/26, Brown is averaging 12.4 points, 9.7 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game, with a shooting line of .436/.398/.839.
Brown will take the two-way slot that has been occupied in recent weeks by former Bull Emanuel Miller, Scotto reports (via Twitter).
Miller, who spent most of the season with Chicago, was sent to Cleveland in a three-team trade that also involved the Kings to ensure that the Bulls and Cavs were “touching” in the deal (ie. an asset was changing hands between the two teams). Miller’s inclusion in that trade appeared to be simply procedural — he hasn’t been active at all for the Cavs since being acquired and will be waived so he can seek out his next opportunity.
A 6’5″ Canadian forward, Miller made a total of 11 NBA appearances for the Bulls after initially signing a two-way contract with the team in December 2024. The 25-year-old has put up 17.4 PPG, 6.5 RPG, and 2.2 APG in 24 NBAGL games (34.0 MPG) this season for the Windy City Bulls and the Charge.
G Leaguers Making Cases For NBA Promotions
Over the past 10 days, several players have earned promotions to either standard or two-way contracts. Several more transactions will be coming this week, as January 5 marks the first day clubs can sign players to standard 10-day contracts and Jan. 7 is the final day in which players who have non-guaranteed salaries (including two-ways) can be waived before their deals become guaranteed.
With that in mind, Keith Smith of Spotrac recently listed 23 players — seven ball-handlers, 10 wings and six bigs — who have been playing well in the G League and are candidates to receive NBA promotions either in the coming days or later in the season. One player from Smith’s list — Tristen Newton — just signed a two-way deal with Houston.
Smith compiled the list based on his own film reviews and spoke to NBA executives, scouts and player agents to solicit their input as well.
Most of the G Leaguers Smith cites have previous NBA experience. That group includes Kobe Bufkin, Killian Hayes, Dalano Banton, Kevin Knox II, Jalen Slawson, Charles Bassey, Moses Brown, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, among others. Bufkin, Bassey and Robinson-Earl actually spent time with NBA teams in 2025/26.
Smith singles out Slawson of the Noblesville Boom as the “best all-around player” to this point in the NBAGL season. A 6’7″ forward who was selected 54th overall in the 2023 draft, Slawson has been filling up the stat sheet for the Pacers‘ affiliate, averaging 21.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.0 blocks in 10 games (34.2 minutes per contest).
There are also a handful players on Smith’s list who have not yet received their first NBA call-ups, including Darius Brown II (Cleveland Charge), Teddy Allen (Rio Grande Valley Vipers) and Matthew Cleveland (Texas Legends). According to Smith, Cleveland has been one of the top rookies at the G League level — the undrafted wing out of Miami is suiting up for the Mavericks‘ affiliate.
Cavaliers Sign, Waive Darius Brown II

October 13: Brown has officially signed with the Cavaliers, per RealGM’s transaction log.
October 9: The Cavaliers intend to sign free agent guard Darius Brown II, sources tell Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com (Twitter link).
In a follow-up tweet, Fedor clarifies that Cleveland will likely sign Brown after the team’s third preseason game against Boston on Sunday. Brown is expected to be active for next Tuesday’s preseason finale vs. Detroit, Fedor adds.
While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, Brown will almost certainly sign a non-guaranteed training camp contract featuring Exhibit 10 language. Assuming he’s waived before the season begins, which is a virtual lock, Brown would be eligible for a bonus worth up to $85,300 if he spends at least 60 days with the Cavaliers’ G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge.
A 6’2″ point guard who went undrafted in 2024 out of Utah State, Brown signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Cavs last fall, was waived a few days later, and spent all of 2024/25 in the NBAGL with the Charge. In 44 total games, the 26-year-old averaged 7.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 25.1 minutes per contest.
The Cavs are currently at the offseason maximum of 21 players under contract, so they’ll have to cut another player to add Brown.
Wolves’ Omoruyi, Lakers’ Goodwin Among Latest Players Waived
The Timberwolves have waived forward Eugene Omoruyi, the team announced today (via Twitter). Omoruyi had been in training camp with Minnesota on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract.
While it initially looked like there might be a path for Omoruyi to compete for a roster spot, that became a more uphill battle following the Karl-Anthony Towns trade, which added two extra players on guaranteed contracts to Minnesota’s roster. The team now has 15 players with fully guaranteed salaries, plus PJ Dozier on a partially guaranteed deal, leaving no room for Omoruyi, who only got into one preseason game.
Omoruyi, 27, has played for the Mavericks, Thunder, Pistons, and Wizards since making his NBA debut in the fall of 2021. The 6’7″ forward made a career-high 43 appearances for Washington last season, averaging 4.8 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 0.8 APG in 9.1 MPG. His contract with the Wizards covered the 2024/25 season, but his salary was non-guaranteed and Washington opted to waive him in August.
Since Omoruyi had an Exhibit 10 clause in his contract, he’d be able to earn a $77.5K bonus if he ends up spending at least 60 days with the Iowa Wolves, Minnesota’s G League affiliate. He also still has one year of two-way eligibility remaining, so he could get a look from teams with an open two-way slot.

- The Lakers announced on Friday that they have waived guard Jordan Goodwin and center Kylor Kelley and signed Grayson Murphy to an Exhibit 10 deal (Twitter link via Dave McMenamin of ESPN). All three players will likely be headed to the South Bay Lakers to open 2024/25.
- The Cavaliers have placed Darius Brown II and Elijah Hughes on waivers, according to NBA.com’s official transaction log. Both players will likely report to the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ G League affiliate, where their Exhibit 10 contracts will allow them to earn bonuses worth up to $77.5K apiece. Brown is eligible to be designated as an “affiliate player,” while Hughes’ returning rights were acquired by the Charge earlier this month.
- About 24 hours after signing him to an Exhibit 10 contract, the Trail Blazers have waived center Nick Muszynski, per NBA.com. His next stop figures to be with the Rip City Remix, Portland’s NBAGL team.
- The Kings have signed free agent forward Shareef O’Neal to a training camp deal and plan to waive him on Saturday, according to Jake Gadon of CBS Sacramento (Twitter link). O’Neal, the son of Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, will head to the Stockton Kings and will be eligible for a bonus worth up to $77.5K if he spends at least 60 days with Stockton.

OCTOBER 15: Over three-and-a-half months after the deal was first reported, Brown has officially signed with the Cavaliers, according to RealGM’s transaction log. The team opened up a spot on its 21-man roster by waiving Jacob Gilyard.
JUNE 28: Free agent guard Darius Brown II will be signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Cavaliers, reports Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress.com (via Twitter).
Brown, who went undrafted in 2024, had previous collegiate stops at Cal State Northridge and Montanta State before finishing out his career with Utah State in 2023/24. As a “super senior” this past season for the Aggies, he averaged 12.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 6.5 APG and 1.5 SPG on .446/.398/.865 shooting in 35 games (36.1 MPG).
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal that doesn’t count against a team’s cap unless the player makes the regular season roster. It can be converted to a two-way contract before the season begins or can put a player in line to earn a bonus worth up to $77.5K if he’s waived and then spends at least 60 days with his team’s G League affiliate.
