Lovering, Richmond Now Free Agents After 10-Day Contracts Expire
Rookies Lawson Lovering and Kadary Richmond, who have spent most of the season in the G League, are free agents again after their respective 10-day contracts expired overnight.
As our 10-day contract tracker shows, Lovering had been been on a 10-day deal with the Grizzlies, while Richmond had been playing for the Wizards.
Lovering, a 7’0″ big man, played two years of college ball at Colorado and two with Utah prior to going undrafted in 2025. He had been playing for the NBAGL’s Memphis Hustle before he was called up by the Grizzlies.
The 22-year-old didn’t appear in the first game in which he was active with the Grizzlies, but recorded three points, four rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes in a February 11 loss at Denver and notched a double-double in last night’s victory over the Jazz. He played 32 minutes as Memphis’ starting center, finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.
Richmond, a 6’5″ guard, signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal with Washington last fall after going undrafted out of St. John’s this past June. The 24-year-old was waived at the end of the preseason and reported to the Wizards’ G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.
Richmond was productive in his three outings with the Wizards, averaging 8.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.7 APG and 2.7 SPG in 22.3 MPG, with a shooting slash line of .625/.500/1.000.
The Grizzlies now have one standard roster opening. The Wizards technically do too, but it will soon be filled by Tristan Vukcevic, who is being promoted to a three-year standard contract. Washington will reportedly sign Leaky Black to take Vukcevic’s two-way spot.
Kadary Richmond Signs 10-Day Contract With Wizards
The Wizards have filled the open spot on their 15-man roster by signing guard Kadary Richmond to a 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release.
Richmond signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal with Washington last fall after going undrafted out of St. John’s in June. The 6’6″ guard was waived at the end of the preseason and reported to the Wizards’ G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.
Across 23 total appearances for the Go-Go, Richmond has averaged 8.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 22.4 minutes per contest, with a shooting line of .457/.308/.846. While those numbers don’t exactly jump off the page, the 24-year-old has been more effective since the G League’s regular season began in late December — in his most recent outing for the Go-Go on Saturday, he had 19 points and six assists.
The Wizards are currently carrying just 13 players on standard, full-season contracts, with Richmond joining Keshon Gilbert as the team’s 10-day players to fill out the 15-man squad.
While Gilbert’s deal will expire after All-Star weekend, Richmond’s will cover Washington’s first two games following the break, running through next Friday (Feb. 20). Richmond will earn $73,153 over the course of his 10-day contract.
Wizards Waive Kadary Richmond, Alondes Williams
The Wizards have waived guards Kadary Richmond and Alondes Williams, the team’s PR department tweets. Both players were signed to non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contracts earlier this week.
Richmond, a 6’5″ guard, played at St. John’s last year after spending one season with Syracuse and three with Seton Hall. He earned second team All-Big East honors last season after averaging 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 steals in 36 games.
Williams has appeared in nine total games over the past three seasons while on two-way contracts with Brooklyn, Miami and Detroit.
Both players will likely end up with the Capital City Go-Go, Washington’s G League affiliate — their Exhibit 10 contracts make them eligible for bonuses worth up to $85,300 if they spend at least 60 days with the team.
Wizards Sign Kadary Richmond, Alondes Williams; Waive Leaky Black, Skal Labissiere
The Wizards have finalized the signings of guards Kadary Richmond and Alondes Williams to Exhibit 10 contracts, the team announced (via Twitter). Forward Leaky Black and big man Skal Labissiere, who were also on Exhibit 10 deals, were both waived to make room on the training camp roster.
Washington’s agreement with Richmond was first reported following the draft in late June. The 6’5″ guard played at St. John’s last year after spending one season with Syracuse and three with Seton Hall. He earned second team All-Big East honors last season after averaging 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 steals in 36 games.
Williams, whose deal was reported in August, has appeared in nine total games over the past three seasons while on two-way contracts with Brooklyn, Miami and Detroit. He’s eligible to sign another two-way deal with the Wizards, but the team currently has all three of its slots filled.
Black signed with Washington on October 2, while Labissiere has been with the team since October 6. Neither of them was used in the Wizards’ lone preseason game so far.
All four players could end up with the Capital City Go-Go, Washington’s G League affiliate, where the Exhibit 10 contracts will make them eligible for bonuses worth up to $85,300 if they spend at least 60 days with the team.
The moves leave the Wizards’ roster at the preseason limit of 21 players.
Wizards, Kadary Richmond Agree To Deal
After going undrafted this week, St. John’s guard Kadary Richmond has agreed to sign with the Wizards, agent Daniel Hazan tells NBA insider Chris Haynes (Twitter link).
Richmond spent a year at Syracuse and three seasons with Seton Hall before joining St. John’s ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. As a “super senior,” he filled up the box score by averaging 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.0 steals in 32.3 minutes per game across 36 outings (35 starts).
Richmond was named to the All-Big East second team in 2025 after making the first team with Seton Hall in 2024. He was the No. 86 prospect on ESPN’s big board prior to the draft and ranked 29th among the players who went undrafted.
The exact details of Richmond’s contract are unclear. Typically, when the agent for an undrafted rookie doesn’t specify the terms, it’s an Exhibit 10 agreement, which is essentially a non-guaranteed training camp contract. But St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino sent out a tweet today congratulating Richmond and his Red Storm teammate RJ Luis Jr. for their “two-way” deals.
The Wizards won’t be able to officially sign Richmond until after the new league year begins in July, so we should get clarity on his contract details at that point, if not earlier.
Draft Workouts: Jazz, Wolves, Kings, Broome
The Jazz are hosting a pre-draft workout on Friday featuring Colorado State wing Nique Clifford, North Carolina wing Drake Powell, Creighton center Ryan Kalkbrenner and Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier, multiple league sources tell Tony Jones of The Athletic (Twitter link).
Clifford is the top-ranked prospect of the group, according to ESPN’s big board, coming in at No. 22. Powell (No. 31), Kalkbrenner (No. 33) and Lanier (No. 37) are also viewed as strong bets to be drafted, either late in the first round or early in the second.
Utah currently controls four picks — Nos. 5, 21, 43 and 53 — in June’s draft.
Here are a few more notes regarding pre-draft workouts:
- The Timberwolves, who control the 17th and 31st picks, are holding a workout Thursday that includes Asa Newell (Georgia), Jamir Watkins (Florida State), Keshon Gilbert (Iowa State) and Steven Crowl (Wisconsin), reports Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News and SKOR North (via Twitter). Newell, who was invited to the green room, is ranked No. 21 on ESPN’s board, while Watkins is No. 39. The other two players are unranked.
- The Kings will be hosting six players for a workout on Friday, the team announced (Twitter link via Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee). The six are Ryan Nembhard of Gonzaga, Curtis Jones of Iowa State, Koby Brea of Kentucky, Kadary Richmond of, Norchad Omier of Baylor, and Vladislav Goldin of Michigan. All six prospects appear on ESPN’s board, ranging from No. 47 (Brea) to No. 95 (Omier). Sacramento currently only controls the 42nd pick, but is rumored to be interested in moving into the first round.
- Big man Johni Broome, the 40th-ranked prospect on ESPN’s list, had a workout with the Warriors today, tweets Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic. The former Auburn star said he has previously worked out for the Clippers, Pistons, Hawks, Nets, Raptors and Celtics, and has upcoming workouts scheduled with the Thunder, Timberwolves and Suns, according to Rankin. Golden State controls the 41st pick.
44 Prospects Invited To G League Elite Camp
A total of 44 college and international prospects have been invited to the 2025 G League Elite Camp, aka the G League Combine, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link).

These prospects will meet with NBA evaluators and scrimmage for two days in Chicago starting on May 9, ahead of the league’s annual draft combine. A small group of standout players from this event are generally invited to stay in Chicago for the full-fledged combine that takes place immediately following the G League Elite Camp. Typically, at least a half-dozen players move on.
While the May 11-18 combine focuses on the top-ranked players in each draft class, the G League Elite Camp offers opportunity to prospects further down boards who are more likely to go undrafted.
None of the 44 players invited to the G League Elite Camp show up in the top 50 of ESPN’s list of this year’s top prospects. Williams (No. 58) and Lewis (No. 59) are the top-ranked prospects for the event, per ESPN.
The G League Elite Camp will give invitees who declared for the draft as early entrants an opportunity to see where they stand ahead of the draft withdrawal deadline on May 28. Not all of the players who participate in this event will remain in the draft pool.
Jose Alvarado, Terance Mann, and Jaylen Martin are among the current NBA players who once took part in the G League Elite Camp. Last year’s list of invitees was highlighted by Jaylen Wells, though he ultimately received a combine invite before either event tipped off.
Keion Brooks, Isaiah Crawford, Yongxi Cui, Enrique Freeman, Emanuel Miller, Nae’Qwan Tomlin, and Anton Watson were among the other 2024 participants who signed two-way contracts with NBA teams this past year, while Isaac Jones finished the 2024/25 season on a standard contract in Sacramento.
