Lovering, Richmond Now Free Agents After 10-Day Contracts Expire
Rookies Lawson Lovering and Kadary Richmond, who have spent most of the season in the G League, are free agents again after their respective 10-day contracts expired overnight.
As our 10-day contract tracker shows, Lovering had been been on a 10-day deal with the Grizzlies, while Richmond had been playing for the Wizards.
Lovering, a 7’0″ big man, played two years of college ball at Colorado and two with Utah prior to going undrafted in 2025. He had been playing for the NBAGL’s Memphis Hustle before he was called up by the Grizzlies.
The 22-year-old didn’t appear in the first game in which he was active with the Grizzlies, but recorded three points, four rebounds and two steals in 18 minutes in a February 11 loss at Denver and notched a double-double in last night’s victory over the Jazz. He played 32 minutes as Memphis’ starting center, finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.
Richmond, a 6’5″ guard, signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal with Washington last fall after going undrafted out of St. John’s this past June. The 24-year-old was waived at the end of the preseason and reported to the Wizards’ G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.
Richmond was productive in his three outings with the Wizards, averaging 8.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.7 APG and 2.7 SPG in 22.3 MPG, with a shooting slash line of .625/.500/1.000.
The Grizzlies now have one standard roster opening. The Wizards technically do too, but it will soon be filled by Tristan Vukcevic, who is being promoted to a three-year standard contract. Washington will reportedly sign Leaky Black to take Vukcevic’s two-way spot.
Grizzlies Sign Lawson Lovering To 10-Day Deal

2:45 pm: The Grizzlies are signing 7’1” rookie center Lawson Lovering to a 10-day contract, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype tweets.
Lovering has spent this season with the Memphis Hustle in the G League. In 24 games with the Hustle, he’s averaged 7.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 blocks in 26.8 minutes per game.
Lovering was signed by Memphis on an Exhibit 10 deal in early September. He played four preseason games for the Grizzlies and averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.5 minutes before getting waived in mid-October. The 22-year-old Wyoming native went unselected in the 2025 draft after his final collegiate season at Utah.
He temporarily fills a frontcourt need for Memphis, which traded Jaren Jackson Jr. to Utah last week. The Grizzlies opened up a spot on the 15-man roster on Friday when they waived Eric Gordon. With Zach Edey and Brandon Clarke currently recovering from injuries, Memphis didn’t have any healthy centers.
Because a 10-day contract must cover at least three games, Lovering’s deal will actually run for 12 days before expiring — the Grizzlies play twice before the All-Star break, then resume action on February 20 vs. Utah.
Grizzlies Sign DeJon Jarreau, Waive Lawson Lovering
The Grizzlies have signed guard DeJon Jarreau and waived center Lawson Lovering, according to a team press release (Twitter link). Terms weren’t made available but Jarreau likely received a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal, as Memphis already has 15 players on guaranteed contracts.
Jarreau appeared in 10 games as a reserve in two NBA seasons (2021/22 and ’23/24) with the Pacers and Grizzlies, averaging 4.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 15.1 minutes. The 27-year-old, who went undrafted in 2021 out of Houston, played with Indiana on a two-way deal and with Memphis on a pair of 10-day contracts.
The New Orleans native also has competed in 67 total games (27 starts) in two seasons with the NBA G League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Texas Legends, Capital City Go-Go and Memphis Hustle, averaging 13.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 23.9 minutes per contest at the NBAGL level.

Grizzlies Sign Lawson Lovering, Tyler Burton To Camp Deals
The Grizzlies have announced (via Twitter) the signings of center Lawson Lovering and forward Tyler Burton. No details were provided on the contracts, but they’re likely Exhibit 10 deals for G League purposes.
Lovering, whose expected signing was first reported in late July, went undrafted after playing three years at Colorado and the past two seasons at Utah. He appeared in seven combined games with Memphis’ Summer League team in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, averaging 3.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 12.9 minutes while making 62.5% of his field goal attempts.
Burton spent last season with the G League’s Memphis Hustle, appearing in eight games and averaging 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 12 minutes per night. He played three years at Richmond and two years at Villanova before going undrafted in 2024.
The Grizzlies have 15 players with guaranteed contracts, and all three of their two-way slots are filled with this week’s addition of Olivier-Maxence Prosper. Today’s signings bring their roster to 20 players, one short of the offseason maximum.
Exhibit 10 contracts can be converted into two-way deals prior to the NBA’s regular season. A player who signs an Exhibit 10 contract also becomes eligible for a bonus worth up to $85,300 if he’s waived and then spends at least 60 days with his team’s G League affiliate.
Lovering would qualify as an affiliate player for Memphis, while Burton would be a returning-rights player.
Lawson Lovering, Grizzlies Agree To Exhibit 10 Deal
Rookie free agent center Lawson Lovering has agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Grizzlies after suiting up for the team during the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas Summer Leagues, reports Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress (Twitter link).
Lovering, who went undrafted in June, spent the past two seasons at the University of Utah after starting his college career at Colorado from 2021-23. As a senior in 2024/25, he started all 28 games he played for the Utes, averaging 8.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 23.8 minutes per game.
The seven-footer appeared in a total of seven games for the Grizzlies’ Summer League team in SLC and Vegas, averaging 3.4 PPG and 3.1 RPG in 12.9 MPG while making 62.5% of his field goal attempts.
