Week In Review: 2/18/13 – 2/24/13
It's been a crazy week here at Hoops Rumors but have no fear, Week In Review is here to get you up to speed..
- The Magic traded J.J. Redick, Gustavo Ayon, and Ishmael Smith to the Bucks for Beno Udrih, Tobias Harris, and Doron Lamb. It initially appeared that Milwaukee was targeting Redick to replace Monta Ellis if Ellis was part of a Josh Smith trade, the club ultimately pulled the trigger on Redick anyway, meaning the sharpshooter will join a backcourt that features Ellis and Brandon Jennings.
- The Mavs didn't land Jennings at the deadline but it appears that there is mutual interest there.
- Surprisingly, Smith stayed in Atlanta when all was said and done. The forward is unlikely to re-sign with the Hawks. The Hawks had a deal on the table with the Bucks but ultimately got cold feet.
- Clippers guard Chris Paul made a serious pitch to Kevin Garnett to push for a trade to L.A. but the Celtics big man didn't go for it.
- The Knicks signed Kenyon Martin to a ten-day contract.
- The Rockets traded Marcus Morris to the Suns and Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich, and Toney Douglas to the Kings for Thomas Robinson, Francisco Garcia, Tyler Honeycutt, and a future second-round pick.
- The Heat traded Dexter Pittman and a future second-round pick to the Grizzlies for the rights to Ricky Sanchez and cash considerations.
- The Wizards traded Jordan Crawford to the Celtics for Leandro Barbosa and Jason Collins.
- The Thunder traded Eric Maynor to the Blazers for a trade exception and the rights to Georgios Printezis. The Blazers waived Ronnie Price to clear a roster spot for Maynor.
- The Thunder also acquired Ronnie Brewer from the Knicks for a future second-round pick.
- The Hawks traded Anthony Morrow to the Mavericks for Dahntay Jones.
- The Bobcats couldn't find a team willing to give a first rounder for Gerald Henderson.
- The Suns traded Sebastian Telfair to the Raptors for Hamed Haddadi and a future second-round pick.
- The Magic traded Josh McRoberts to the Bobcats for Hakim Warrick. The Magic waived Warrick on Saturday.
- The Warriors traded Jeremy Tyler to the Hawks for a second-round pick. They also traded Charles Jenkins to the 76ers for an additional second-round pick.
- Jermaine O'Neal will stay put in Phoenix for the rest of the year. The Knicks had interest in him.
- No surprise here – Charlie Villanueva will exercise his $8.5MM option for 2013/14.
- The Pistons discussed deals for Jason Maxiell and Will Bynum.
- The Nuggets rebuffed an offer from the Timberwolves that would have sent Brandon Roy and a first-round draft pick to Denver in exchange for center Timofey Mozgov.

If you're not caught up on everything going on in the NBA as we approach the trade deadline, here's your crash course..
- The Bucks, Nets, Celtics, 76ers, and Wizards are among the many involved in talks for Hawks forward Josh Smith. The Suns, however, aren't in on the high flyer.
- The Nuggets have opportunities, but don't expect them to do much.
- There's mutual interest between the Clippers and Jazz in a deal that would send Eric Bledsoe to Utah and power forward Paul Millsap to L.A. However, some sources say that the Clippers will stand pat before the deadline and Gary Sacks says the team is not actively shopping DeAndre Jordan, Bledsoe, or anyone else.
- Meanwhile, the Clips have also talked with the Celtics about Kevin Garnett. KG might not be willing to waive his no-trade clause.
- Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak told Dwight Howard he's staying put in wake of rumors that the club was discussing a deal with the Celtics for Rajon Rondo. It doesn't appear that the DH-Rondo deal is a reality.
- The Bobcats are anxious to move Ben Gordon and are showing heavy interest in Andrea Bargnani.
- Mired by scandal, NBPA executive director Billy Hunter was shown the door. The vote to oust Hunter was 24-0, with six player representatives apparently absent from the meeting.
- Brandon Jennings is said to be frustrated with the Bucks but the guard denied the story.
- It doesn't look like the rumored Bargnani-Carlos Boozer swap will go down.
- The Knicks are open to trading Iman Shumpert and have expressed interest in Luke Ridnour.
- The Wizards have made Jordan Crawford available.
- The Suns have shown interest in Al Jefferson and Gordon Hayward.
- The Heat aren't likely to make a move.
- The Rockets will extend GM Daryl Morey, who isn't expecting a busy week.
- The Nets may or may not be interested in J.J. Hickson.
- The Knicks are considering a pair of free agent bigs.
- Greg Oden is leaning towards leaning towards the Cavs.
- The Spurs offered DeJuan Blair to the Pistons and discussed a deal involving him with the Raptors, but nothing has come of those talks yet.
- Another tough break for the Celtics after they lost Leandro Barbosa for the season.
- Anderson Varejao wants to stay in Cleveland.
- The Magic told J.J. Redick that they're not shopping him, but that doesn't mean he's staying put.

- The Nets and Bobcats have engaged in discussions about a deal that would send Ben Gordon to Brooklyn and Kris Humphries to Charlotte. However, it’s on the backburner for now.
- The Suns are pursuing Iman Shumpert but Knicks coach Mike Woodson downplayed the talk. Meanwhile, the Knicks are said to be eyeing Jared Dudley.
