It’s already been reported that the Nets, among other teams, are interested in signing free agent forward Tobias Harris this summer. Now, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic, it appears that the interest is mutual, with Harris to consider Brooklyn in free agency.
As noted by Scotto, Harris would fill somewhat of a void at power forward alongside young big man Jarrett Allen, and at only 26 years old, Harris would be able to grow alongside the Nets’ young core of Allen, Caris LeVert, and D’Angelo Russell, should he be re-signed.
Another potentially important factor in Harris’ free agency decision is his connection to Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson. Harris’ family and Atkinson both lived on Long Island when Harris was growing up and Steve Atkinson – Kenny’s brother – was one of Harris’ coaches in high school.
Harris, who turned down a four-year, $80MM contract extension from the Clippers last summer before being traded to the Sixers during the 2018/19 season, averaged a career-high 20.0 PPG this season, making himself one of the more sought-after free agents this summer.
Always good to be interested in a team you defeated easily.
That net team would be fun to watch and of they can get Irving too that will be a much improved team

Harris and kyrie is pretty nice 2 piece. Makes more sense than irving/dlo pairing. Got dinwiddle and lavert too.

Harris is exactly what their roster needs, not Kyrie. They’re full of quality young guards already.
Prob a negotiating ploy
If the Nets go down this route… Max offers, renouncing DLo…. Elton Brand needs to figure out a way to get Butler and DLo on the roster. My thoughts on DLo are that he’s very immature, but stick him with Jimmy, Joel, Ben and I think he’d mature fast.
Money wise, it works. They can renounce Tobias and Redick (retain via MLE). They could then offer 4-yr baby max to DLo.
I would prefer to max out DLo than Tobias, simply for positional need. They drafted Fultz b/c they needed a combo guard to pair with Simmons.
They then have to sell a min contract on veterans (Taj, Morris, Faried) to fill that SF/PF role and draft the position – Cam Johnson, Keldon Johnson, Rui Hachimura if he falls (or trade up).
Otherwise run it back, offer max to both Jimmy & Tobias – easier than what I laid out. It’s just money.

Harris is one of those guys where if his existing team maxes him using in Bird rights, it makes sense. But an outside team using cap space to do it doesn’t. The fit with the Nets is a good though, if KI signs.
Philly needs to announce both are signed on July 1st. Whatever it takes. Otherwise, they’ll have paid the highest rental price per minute in NBA history (I’m guessing). Nothing says they can’t make a significant trade mid-year if the fit isn’t right.
RoCo – overpaid. Saric – nice 6th man. Shamet – nice role player, can’t guard well yet. Miami pick hurts.
Not a ton given up for what they got. Saric would have needed a new contract. Really Shamet and the Miami pick are the stinging losses. Shamet could have taken over JJs role.
