Chris Finch Considered Frontrunner For Pacers Job

Pelicans assistant Chris Finch is considered the frontrunner for the Pacers coaching job, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer tweets. This is the first indication which way Indiana’s front office is leaning as it searches for Nate McMillan‘s replacement.

We’ve heard about about a number of candidates, including former head coaches Mike D’AntoniMike Brown, and Dave Joerger as well as top assistants around the league, including Darvin HamIme Udoka, and David Vanterpool. ESPN analyst and 2004 Finals MVP Chauncey Billups also reportedly received an interview.

Joerger had been considered a strong contender for the job.

As Scott Agness of tweeted earlier this week, Heat assistants Chris Quinn and Dan Craig are next in line for interviews, O’Connor confirms.

Finch has also been mentioned as a candidate for the Rockets’ head coaching job. After the Pelicans parted ways with Alvin Gentry following the seeding games in Orlando, VP of basketball operations David Griffin spoke highly of Finch and indicated that he wanted to retain him, while acknowledging the assistant would draw interest from other teams as a head coaching prospect.

This is a very weird thing to obsess and troll over. Even if you think Lebron gets coaches fired, the last 2 times that happened his teams won championships.

Exactly. Based on Sacramento’s regression, it is pretty evident Walton should not be a head coach. I still can’t believe they fired Joerger

Have to see if JVG or Lue gets the Rockets as think between them. Lue could take Pelicans or maybe will have JVG to Rockets and his brother the Pelicans. Lue to Clippers then OKC and Pacers left. But Lue depending on what happens with JVG interview may get Rockets. Doubt D’Antoni will be going anywhere. Do not see him with OKC or Pacers.

The head coaching job at Houston is one of the best opportunities out there given the fact that they’ve made the playoffs 8 years in a row (the longest active streak in the NBA), so the top remaining candidates should be considered as favorites for the position. Ty Lue is definitely the better option for the Rockets.

If Indiana doesn’t go with Joerger, and they should, Houston should try to get Joerger. Although Houston will probably be a real pill to coach if anyone can turn a program around, Joerger can.

LMAO. Houston is fail waiting to happen with that roster. The only coach who will take that job is one who will be satisfied with second round flame-outs because because that’s their ceiling as currently constructed.

He must have good references. He is considered a top offensive mind. But is he a leader of men? Can he motivate these guys? Does he understand hoosierhysteria?
