April 22: Lillard told reporters in Indiana on Tuesday that he’ll return to action for Game 2 tonight, tweets Nehm.
April 21: Star point guard Damian Lillard has been listed as questionable by the Bucks ahead of Tuesday’s Game 2 at Indiana, tweets Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.
Shortly before the team announced the injury designation, head coach Doc Rivers said he wasn’t sure if Lillard would suit up, but he practiced on Monday and went through scrimmages the past two days, according to Eric Nehm of The Athletic (Twitter link).
“He’s close. He looks great to me,” Rivers said.
Lillard has recovered remarkably well from a blood calf in his right calf — he recently discussed the “scary” diagnosis, which occurred late last month. Although he missed Game 1, he was cleared of his deep vein thrombosis last week and began practicing. Lillard has continued to ramp up his activity in recent days and shows up on the injury report with a designation of “return to competition reconditioning,” Nehm notes (via Twitter).
Lillard made his ninth All-Star appearance in 2024/25, averaging 24.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals on .448/.376/.921 shooting in 36.1 minutes per contest. He would have been a strong candidate to make an All-NBA team for the eighth time, but did not qualify due to the 65-game rule — the 34-year-old appeared in 58 games this season.
Milwaukee certainly missed Lillard in Game 1, having been blown out by the Pacers. His potential return would be a boon for the Bucks, particularly on the offensive end. The team only managed 98 points while shooting just 9-of-37 from long distance (24.3%) in the series opener.
Starting to buy this story a bit more now. But still wouldn’t be surprised if this is a big misdirection…
Hmmm 🤔 .. What would you theorize is the end game if indeed this is just a ruse and “misdirection”?
Everyone loves a conspiracy theory 😆
They specifically said he is on medicine to “thin his blood”. Well when I was a few lbs lighter in high school yeah, I could jump a little higher. Move up and down the court a little faster. Your legs even have a couple more 3s in them at the end of a game.
It’s a small advantage but with these hyper competitors every little edge is exploited…
Just stop. There is no conspiracy, there is no misdirection, there is no advantage being gained. It’s a distinct disadvantage to miss the last quarter of the season and the first game of the playoffs.
The man had a life-threatening condition that forced him to put his career on hold. He has worked hard to get back onto the court and he most likely will show rust in his game.
And your nonsense about when you were younger is just that, nonsense There is no athletic advantage to being on blood thinners. And despite their name, blood thinners, don’t actually thin your blood. They just make it less able to clot.
My cousin is taking classes to become a personal trainer and frankly I trust him more than a stranger on the internet. They’re called blood thinners not anti-clot. You have them confused.
Just stop embarrassing yourself. Your cousin is trying to become a personal trainer not a doctor. You’re prescribed blood thinners when you have blood clots.
Eliquis is frequently prescribed for people who have blood clots and is a blood thinner.
Guess you don’t know much about personal trainers. They know just as much about how the body works as some doctors. They need to know how medicine works if they want to prescribe certain supplements. It’s not so simple as you think.
Nobody roots for Dame more than me. I want to see him succeed in Milwaukee. He deserves it at this point. If he is healthy, great. Isn’t that all that matters? No need for personal attacks on me or my cousin.
Riiiight. I know personal trainers are not trained doctors and don’t prescribe blood clotting meds. I’m sure your cousin is really worried about what some random person is saying about them based on extremely general statements made by you. Telling you that you’re embarrassing yourself is a personal attack now??? Good grief kids are sensitive these days.
And again the literal Rx when someone has a blood clot are blood thinners.
For blood clots, treatments typically involve anticoagulants (blood thinners) to prevent clots from growing or new ones from forming.
I guess you don’t know much about blood clots or how they’re treated. Maybe you should sit this one out. Some of us have actual personal experience of loved ones that have experienced blood clots.
Sure. No one roots for Dame more than you. I TOTALLY BELIEVE YOU.
You can’t just sign up to be a personal trainer. They’re are tests and they’re rigorous. What’s your job? If it’s not doctor maybe step aside.
“For blood clots, treatments typically involve anticoagulants” thanks. Then why don’t they say that? Your the one conflating with blood thinning which is different.
And yeah, I like Dame. Even listened to his raps. Look back on this sub and see when I said to trade him from Portland. Well documented. Unlike your mambo jumbo… how that for personal attack?
This is just getting sad.
Anticoagulants, also known as blood thinners, are medications that prevent or delay blood clotting. They work by interfering with the normal clotting cascade, reducing the risk of blood clots, which can lead to serious complications like heart attacks, strokes, or pulmonary embolisms. While they don’t actually thin the blood, they slow down the clotting process, making it take longer for wounds to stop bleeding.
Why do they call them blood thinners then? You admit they don’t thin the blood. You are probably thinking of anti coagulants. I really don’t think theyre the same… otherwise why the different names?
Bottom line if you aren’t a doctor or Dame himself then your opinion is just as valid as mine and my cousins. If you want to be complicit in the cover up be my guest. Denial is not just a river in egypt…
Do you actually read posts before you respond?
Anticoagulants, also known as blood thinners, are medications that prevent or delay blood clotting. So yea I am talking about anticoagulants, aka blood thinners.
Just curious when you play a pickup game, do you also correct anyone that calls the basketball a rock or ball??? You know when someone says to pass the rock or to pass the ball? According to your logic they must not be the same thing otherwise they wouldn’t have different names.
Wow you can cut the sarcasm with a knife. If someone says pass i pass unless i have a good look. If someone said “throw a rock at me” I would probably look at them funny. It’s all about context.
So keep deflecting. Now I know you’re just obtuse.
Wow any more 10 cent words for the class? The problem with this country is no one can just admit when they’re wrong. Ever here of agree to disagree? I personally am just happy Dame is actually healthy. Wish you could just say the same…
Your post is dripping irony. Just take the L and move on.
When exactly did I say I wasn’t happy he was healthy? I’m a Blazer fan and will always be a Dame fan.
No one said that anyone could be a personal trainer just by signing up. I do know that they don’t go to med school and can’t prescribe actual prescriptions meds. We’re not talking about supplements here.
Wow. You even listened to his raps. That totally means no one roots for Dame more than you. I’m sure you also listened to his 4 bar Fridays too.
I didn’t literally mean no one roots for him more than I do. Just saying I’m a fan. Just another example of you getting confused. Smdh..
You really can’t stop spinning things. You originally inferred that you had experience with blood thinners as a younger man. That you could jump higher, move up and down the court quicker, and have more in your legs for threes at the end of a game.
NOW you’re saying that your cousin is “taking classes” to be a personal trainer and that his or her classes somehow make you knowledgeable on this subject. What a load. Blood thinners do not thin your blood PERIOD, despite their name. And they certainly don’t improve athletic performance. Look it up.
Or have your “cousin” cite medical journals that say otherwise.
I never implied I had experience. I said when I was younger I was thinner just like Dame is thinner now technically because his blood is less dense.
My cousin is my medical resource since I asked his opinion because I knew I was right. I have no idea if he keeps a journal or diary of his classes. I suspect he takes notes like a normal student. And this doesn’t seem like the forum to reveal his innermost thoughts. Stick to science…
Dame isn’t “thinner now” because according to you “ his blood is less dense”. Blood thinners don’t make you thinner and they don’t make your blood thinner. These drugs only lessen the ability of blood to form clots. Lillard would apparently be at some risk should he incur an injury while on these drugs.
As for you saying that you conferred with your cousin because “you know (you’re) right”? You’re wrong yet again. And if your cousin thinks you’re right, he or she needs to study harder because he/she doesn’t have a clue. Of course, it’s quite questionable whether there was a conversation or is a cousin.
Stick to something you know about, if there is such a thing.
Agree to disagree. Denial is not just a river in egypt…
Now I understand. Agreeing to disagree is your way of saying that you were wrong.
Yeah, the dude makes up a load of bs, gets called out on it, then talks about “denial”. Pot meet kettle.
Oh my gosh sorry you have to live with the fact that you were wrong on a basketball website. When you graduate from med school come find me. Until then keep your opinions (and that’s what they are) to yourself.
Actually it was me trying to be civil and not embarass you in front of everyone. Should have known you had to be disrespectful and name call. This country is falling apart because of basic manners.
Da-Nile
Glad you finally agree
Hey Lil D. If you really think that blood thinners make you and your blood thin, you should try them
They might make you less dense
Yeah well I can tell you been eating brain thinners… *eye roll*
I’m not a pro athlete i don’t need a physical edge in my day to day life. So I’ll stay drug free, cheech (and chong…)
Giannis will definitely want out.
Gianni’s could want out, but he’s built different. The Bucks will accommodate him in every way with summer
Giannis in response to the Luka trade-
“When a player believes that he can go to a different team and he believes he can have a chance to win a championship, we cannot crucify the person and say that he’s not loyal and he didn’t do the right thing and he let everybody down,” Antetokounmpo told reporters in early February. “Because history has shown you, you have to do what is best for you and your family. You have to do what’s best, most important to win”
What’s noble about remaining in a losing situation? Owners aren’t even loyal. Does the Luka situation not ring a bell? Kings with Cousins, bulls with Jimmy, IT with Celtics?
I don’t want it to be, but I believe if this is as far as the Bucks get in the playoffs this year, this will be Dame and Giannis’ last games together.
They might be saved if they lose a closing minute shot in Game 7 to the Pacers, but I don’t see that happening.
