Lakers, Others Eyeing Grant Hill

Back in March, Grant Hill told Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports Florida that he hopes to keep playing in the NBA until he "can't go or it's not fun anymore." Hill doesn't seem to be contemplating retirement this summer, so he must still be having fun. He also recently underwent the platelet-enrichment procedure that Kobe Bryant popularized among NBA players, according to Ric Bucher of ESPN.com (via Twitter). Bucher adds that the Lakers, Suns, Raptors, and Knicks are among the teams with interest in signing the veteran forward.

Lakers Interested In Young, Rush

The Lakers are interested in Nick Young and Brandon Rush, Mike Bresnahan of The Los Angeles Times (via Twitter) has learned.  As Bresnahan rightfully notes, Young is unlikely to sign for the Lakers' $3MM mini-mid-level exception but Rush could be a possibility.

The Warriors officially tendered a one-year qualifying offer to Rush on Tuesday.  The soon-to-be 26-year-old could be tough to land as well, however, as Golden State GM Bob Myers has openly said that he wants to retain Rush.

Players can't officially sign contracts until July 11, and trades can't be made official until that date either. There are several bits of news rolling in on free agents as July begins, so we'll round up what we're hearing around the late-night rumor mill here.

The Raptors don't necessarily have to amnesty Jose Calderon to create the necessary cap space to make Steve Nash an aggressive offer in free agency, but it seems like the team is at least considering it. Clearing Calderon from their books could give the Raptors the flexibility to try to sign not just Nash, but another quality free agent as well. If Toronto does decide to use its amnesty provision on Calderon, the Lakers may have the inside track on picking him up, says ESPN.com's Marc Stein.
