Hawks Sign Damion Lee For Season

3:39pm: The Hawks have officially signed Lee to a rest-of-season contract, the team announced in a press release.

8:30am: Damion Lee‘s second 10-day contract with the Hawks expired overnight, but he appears set to stick with the team. According to Chris Haynes of ESPN (Twitter link), Atlanta expects to re-sign Lee to a rest-of-season deal. It’s not clear yet if the agreement would cover the 2018/19 season or if it would allow the rookie guard to return to the free agent market this summer.

During his 20 days with the Hawks, Lee has appeared in the first 10 games of his NBA career, averaging 9.8 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 1.9 APG. After a hot start, the 25-year-old cooled off a little during his second 10-day contract, shooting just .388/.190/.667 over his last five games.

The Hawks, who signed Jeremy Evans to a 10-day contract on Sunday, currently have a full 15-man roster. However, the league granted Atlanta a hardship exception, which allows the club to carry a 16th player, so no corresponding roster move will be necessary to re-sign Lee.

That hardship exception can be granted when a team has at least four players who have missed three consecutive games and are expected to miss at least two more weeks. In the Hawks’ case, Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Antonius Cleveland, Jaylen Morris, and Malcolm Delaney are all on the shelf, so at least four of those players appear unlikely to return this season.

Aaron Harrison Signs Rest-Of-Season Deal With Mavs

APRIL 2: The Mavs officially signed Harrison on Sunday, the team announced in a press release. The third-year guard actually received a rest-of-season contract rather than a 10-day deal.

Since the regular season is almost over, the agreement only keeps him under contract for 11 days this season, but Dallas will now have the option of making him a restricted free agent this summer.

MARCH 31: The Mavericks will sign Aaron Harrison to a second 10-day contract, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Harrison has appeared in four games under his current deal, averaging 4.5 points in about 20 minutes per night. He previously played five games for the Hornets last year and 21 in 2015/16. Before signing with Dallas, he was with the Reno Bighorns in the G League.

The Mavericks will have a full roster of 15 players once Harrison re-signs.

Hawks Sign Jeremy Evans To 10-Day Deal

APRIL 1, 1:05pm: The signing is official, the Hawks announced via Twitter. No corresponding roster move was required because Atlanta was granted a hardship exception by the NBA, allowing the team to add a 16th player to its 15-man roster.

MARCH 31, 2:12pm: Former Slam Dunk Contest winner Jeremy Evans will sign a 10-day contract with the Hawks, tweets Ian Begley of ESPN.

Evans, 30, has spent this season with the Erie Bay Hawks, Atlanta’s G League affiliate, where he is averaging 15.3 points and 9.9 rebounds in 39 games. His last NBA appearance came in 2015/16, when he played 30 games for the Mavericks. He was a second-round pick by the Jazz in 2010 and spent five seasons with Utah.

The Hawks need a roster opening to add Evans, so Damion Lee may not be kept once his second 10-day deal with the team expires tomorrow. Lee has averaged 10.4 points in nine games with Atlanta, starting six of them.

Bucks Sign Brandon Jennings To Multi-Year Deal

APRIL 1, 9:41am: Jennings signed a multi-year contract, the Bucks announced on their website.

MARCH 31, 2:26pm: With his second 10-day contract expiring last night, Brandon Jennings will sign with the Bucks for the remainder of the season, tweets Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

Jennings has developed into a useful reserve since coming to Milwaukee earlier this month. The 28-year-old has appeared in 10 games, averaging 5.5 points and 3.3 assists per night.

The contract will cap off a successful return to the organization for Jennings, who was a first-round pick by the Bucks in 2009 and spent his first four NBA seasons there. He signed a G League deal with the Wisconsin Herd, Milwaukee’s affiliate, in February and played five games before receiving the first 10-day deal.

“I’m excited about going to the postseason with a Bucks jersey on,” Jennings told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “With this young great talent we will be very scary in the postseason.”

The Bucks will have a full 15-man roster once the signing of Jennings is complete.

Kings Sign Nigel Hayes To Multi-Year Deal

MARCH 31, 7:17pm: The signing is official, the Kings announced on their website.

MARCH 30, 7:45pm: The Kings have signed forward Nigel Hayes to a deal for the rest of this season and the 2018/19 campaign, tweets ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hayes has played through an eventful 2017/18 season. The 23-year-old signed a 10-day contract with the Lakers in mid-January but only appeared in two games, accumulating 11 minutes. Los Angeles chose not to re-sign him and he ended up signing a pair of 10-day deals with the Raptors, also appearing in just two games.

All told, the University of Wisconsin product appeared in four NBA games, averaging 2.3 PPG in 17 minutes of action.

The rest of Hayes’ season was split between the G League’s Westchester Knicks and Raptors 905. He had just rejoined the Westchester club for the team’s postseason run, per ESPN’s Ian Begley. In 43 G League games (38 of which came with the Knicks), Hayes averaged 15.0 PPG and 6.1 RPG in 34 minutes per contest.

Rockets Signing Tim Quarterman To Two-Year Deal

MARCH 30, 12:43pm: The Rockets have signed Quarterman to a multiyear contract rather than just a 10-day deal, reports Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link). According to Charania, the agreement covers this season and next season, with 2018/19’s salary not guaranteed.

The Rockets have a full 15-man roster, so they’ll have to make a corresponding move to formally sign Quarterman. Terminating Le’Bryan Nash‘s 10-day contract – which will expire Sunday night – would be the simplest path to a roster spot, though the team could also waive a player on a full-season contract.

MARCH 29, 3:45pm: The Rockets are set to sign shooting guard Tim Quarterman to a 10-day contract, Marc Stein of The New York Times tweets. Quarterman last suited up for the Trail Blazers in 2016/17.

The undrafted 23-year-old had planned to sign in China but passport complications prevented that earlier this year. Now the wing will look to provide depth for the No. 1 team in the NBA.

Quarterman went through training camp with the Rockets last October and was one of the final four players cut prior to the season.

In 16 games for Portland last season, Quarterman averaged 1.9 points and 0.7 assists in just 5.0 minutes of action. Now he’ll be charged with the task of carving out a role for himself on a team with no shortage of offensive weapons already on its bench.

Rodney Purvis Signs Two-Year Contract With Magic

2:24pm: The Magic have officially re-signed Purvis, the team announced in a press release.

11:42am: With Rodney Purvis‘ second 10-day contract ending today, the Magic will sign him to a two-year deal, tweets Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports. The second year will not carry a guarantee.

The 24-year-old shooting guard has appeared in seven games during his 20 days with Orlando, averaging 6.3 points in 13.7 minutes per night. Purvis went undrafted last summer out of Connecticut and spent most of this season with the Magic’s G League affiliate in Lakeland, Fla.

Orlando will have a full 15-player roster once the signing is complete.

Xavier Silas Signs 10-Day Deal With Celtics

The Celtics have signed Xavier Silas to a 10-day contract, the team announced on its website.

The 30-year-old shooting guard is returning to the NBA for the first time since 2012, when he played two games for the Sixers. He spent this season with Northern Arizona in the G League, averaging 18.4 points in 43 games. Over the past five seasons, Silas has been with several G League teams and played overseas in Israel, Greece, Germany, Argentina and China. He was with the Wizards in training camp in 2014, but was unable to earn a roster spot.

Silas played in the BIG3 league last summer, being drafted fourth overall by Tri-State and later traded to the Ball Hogs.

The Celtics are using a hardship exception to sign Silas, so another roster move won’t be necessary. Boston thought it had a 10-day deal with Sean Kilpatrick last week, but he wound up signing a multiyear contract with the Bulls.

Jazz Sign David Stockton To Second 10-Day Deal

MARCH 27: The Jazz have officially re-signed Stockton to a second 10-day contract, the team announced today in a press release.

MARCH 26: After seeing his first action with the Jazz during Sunday’s win over Golden State, David Stockton has received some more good news. According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link), Utah will re-sign Stockton to a second 10-day contract after his first deal expires on Monday night.

The son of Hall-of-Famer John Stockton, David Stockton is a G League veteran who has appeared in 142 regular season games for the Reno Bighorns since 2014. The 26-year-old point guard made his NBA debut during the 2014/15 season for the Kings. Until spending the last 10 days with the Jazz, however, he hadn’t been back in the league since appearing in three games for Sacramento in his rookie year.

Assuming Utah finalizes Stockton’s new 10-day deal on Tuesday, it will run through Thursday, April 5. At that point, the Jazz will have to decide whether to ink him to a rest-of-season deal or let him walk. Utah already has 14 players on guaranteed contracts for this season, so Stockton is currently occupying the 15th and final spot on the team’s NBA roster.

Grizzlies Sign MarShon Brooks, Cut Brice Johnson

12:39pm: The Grizzlies have officially signed Brooks to a 10-day deal, the team announced in a press release. To open up a roster spot, Memphis has waived Brice Johnson.

Johnson, acquired from Detroit in a deadline trade last month, appeared in nine games for the Grizzlies. Like Brooks, he’s a former 25th overall pick.

11:33am: The Grizzlies intend to sign guard MarShon Brooks to a 10-day contract, reports Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter).

Brooks, a first-round pick in 2011, had a decent rookie season with the Nets, averaging 12.6 PPG and 3.6 RPG in 56 contests. However, his minutes were cut back the following year, and Brooklyn traded him in 2013. Brooks bounced around the NBA during the 2013/14 season, appearing in games for the Celtics, Warriors, and Lakers.

Since the end of the ’13/14 campaign, Brooks has played international ball, primarily in China with the Jiangsu Dragons. This season, the 29-year-old filled up the box score with 36.6 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 5.7 APG in 36 Chinese League games for Jiangsu.

The Grizzlies currently have a full 15-man roster, so there are three possibilities for the team to open up a roster spot and finalize Brooks’ reported signing. Memphis could terminate Marquis Teague‘s 10-day contract, wait until after Teague’s deal expires on April 2, or waive another player with a guaranteed contract.
