While it’s widely expected that Jonathan Kuminga will be on the move by the February 5 deadline, the Warriors don’t feel any urgency to deal him when he becomes trade-eligible on January 15, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (Substack link).
As Fischer writes, the market for Kuminga has shrunk since he was a restricted free agent over the summer, and it doesn’t help matters that he couldn’t crack Golden State’s rotation even before he reportedly started being held out due to trade talks. Fischer points to the Suns as a team that was interested in Kuminga over the offseason but has since moved on.
While the Mavericks reportedly initiated trade talks with the Warriors and expressed some interest in Kuminga, those conversations were centered around Anthony Davis. With the star big man injured and thus not expected to be moved, Dallas seems unlikely to circle back to Kuminga now, Fischer explains.
According to Fischer, the Wizards were once viewed as a possible landing spot for the former No. 7 overall pick, but that was when they still had Corey Kispert on the roster, a player the Warriors have liked for years. Kispert was traded to Atlanta in the Trae Young deal.
Confirming recent reporting from ESPN and The Athletic, Fischer hears the Kings remain high on Kuminga and “would welcome” the opportunity to acquire him prior to Feb. 5, but they know a two-team deal is unlikely and that may be true of multi-team constructs as well if general manager Scott Perry maintains his stance of being unwilling to include a first-round pick.
The Bulls are another team that has expressed previous interest in Kuminga, Fischer writes, and a source tells Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times that they’re still evaluating whether to make a run at him. Cowley hears there has been increased recent chatter about Coby White being on the market, and Fischer refers to the impending free agent as being “oft-discussed,” though the Warriors don’t appear to have interest in the 25-year-old guard.
Cowley also confirms the Bulls have long been intrigued by Zion Williamson, but he may not be available.
Lastly, while the Lakers are known to be looking for a three-and-D wing and Kuminga doesn’t really fit that bill, they did inquire about his availability in the offseason and have continued to keep an eye on his situation, Fischer reports.

List the Lakers so someone will read it.
You are probably right. lakers do not have much to trade. vanderbilt is about the only guy that appeals to teh warriors but he is to big part of their defense.
What defense ???? Brons last yr. JK is actually a smart move for them.
Coby White for Donte DiVan and 3 second round picks
Great deal for Minny, who cares about the Bulls
For Dillingham and Beringer …..
Don’t want to give up Beringer. He’s got a future and is our eventual Gobert replacement.
Coby could be piece to get you in Finals lol. I really believe that. Easy can get 20 and start lol.
No, Colby white is garbage.
WHY?????????????????????????
Bulls can get more than Donte for White.
Bulls could get more for their Fax Machine.
LMFAO Mike!
Yeah if MJ used it.
They can get more for their mascot
Agreed. Don’t just trade for the sake of trading.
Raz-Not exactly sure why the Bulls want Kuminga unless they are going to move Okoro with something for a big. They keep putting guys in the way of playing Matas at the 3 where he belongs. But nobody ever said the Bulls make a lot of sense. They need another big, Well bigger than Kuminga anyway. I think maybe the light bulb has gone on a bit for Donovan seeing how the Bigs played together until Collins got hurt. I hope he comes back quick. It was actually looking better for awhile until Giddey and Smith went down and Hopalong White can’t stay on the court. He shouldn’t be played before the trade deadline so it doesn’t kill a deal. And maybe he heals up.
Bro your funny.
Nobody wants Kuminga And would give up any significant value for him. The posters on this site seem to believe that kaminga is better than what he is. We’ve had countless articles where we continually ask. What is he elite at? What would he bring to the table and warrant the 4-year 90 million he’s going to ask for in the off-season?. Nobody can never answer it. You’re not getting a first round pick for them and Golden State wants players. There’s not really a trade that fits the warriors. At this point they would just be dumping him.
Last but not least, he has shown nothing that when he goes through his main team he’s going to dominate. Or show any type of improvement. They’ll just be a slight improvement in his numbers. Less efficient on a losing team
Mike, I don’t see Okoro being moved this year. They have literally no perimeter wing defenders besides him and possibly Ayo. Matas is a 3 and should be a 3. I agree with that statement as well. Also, we need to get bigger and athletic. Kuminga isn’t big, but he’s athletic which is why I’m sure we’re intrigued. Problem is he isn’t a good defender, shooter for a team that prioritizes pace & space. I’d keep Collins on a 2 year deal until we draft or acquire a young big man. Coby needs to play though, otherwise we’re going to get hosed once again at the trade deadline. His value around the league isn’t what it was a year or even 18 months ago.
Im surprised he doesnt end each post with “raptors, knicks, laker and Philly sucks!”
So how the Kuminga teams in running for him goes.
1. Mavs because they have the assets
2. Nets would be #1 but do they want Kuminga
3. Kings want Kuminga but not enough assets
4. Bulls do they want Kumingia ?
5. Pelican but Murphy is not getting traded
6. Pacers they have the assets to get him and earlier wanted him
7. Portland they have the assets if they want him and been looking at him
8. Raptors looking at options
9 washington do they have the assets
10. lakers I just don’t see them wanting Kuminga
Jrue holiday would be good next to Steph. As long as he can stay on the court.
God bulls please please no
All these teams want Kuminga…but didn’t offer a thing for him in FA. Doesn’t make sense.
Warriors could match, no need to set the market for them.
They set there limit at $25million. The Nets could gone to $26million.
Any deal would have been a sign and trade though anyway. They just prolonged it.
“They set there limit at $25million. The Nets could gone to $26million.”
No they couldn’t. Had the Nets offered 28 or 30 or 35, GS would’ve matches.
The Nets used their cap space well and didn’t chase shadows.
The other day I saw a kid play a videogame about the NBA, he was sending offers to RFAs left and right. I found it curious. Because in reality, offer sheets happen very seldom.
They don’t want him. Bulls differently. They have a kaminga already Patrick. Same player same results. Maybe Washington not really sure after getting Trey. And I think the Kings are the only team. Desperate enough all the rest of those teams why. Maybe maybe Brooklyn if they move porter
And Bulls were dumb enough to give Williams an extension.
Lakers in on everything but have the means to acquire nothing.
Whether he says it publically or not, the Warriors are the one team LeBron would waive his NTC for.
If I ignore for a second my belief that there is zero chance of a LeBron trade, I can’t help but wonder if Draymond, Kuminga, and Hield for LeBron and Knecht could make both teams better.
Nets should take Kuminga. Especially for MPJ. All part of the rebuild. They can get a good look at him for the year. Kuminga has a condition with his knee. Wonder if that had something to do with him sitting. Make sure he’s good when traded.
Minny should go after Coby. Bulls don’t want him. He fits them like a glove imo. Minny doesn’t really run a PG offense. So he should have problems there. Another ball handler is what AE needs.
Why would the nets trade MPJ for Kuminga. MpJ is way better, already under contract and as I said 10000 times Kuminga is already played 6118 minutes plus 386 min in the playoffs. Playoffs minutes are like 1.5 regular season minutes Just because of the style of play and how hard you play. So with 7k minutes you think something is going to unlock something new
I doubt you know talent. With that evaluation.
I guarantee he can start for them for next ten yrs. A kid with upside. The guy hasn’t played or been developed. Why would they need MPJ. Nets are rebuilding. Don’t want dont need him….. they got him to trade him.
The lakers aren’t going to trade for another guy that cannot shoot
The Bulls could be at the center of a lot of these discussions because of all the expiring contracts they have and their ability to match salaries. And it makes some sense for them to take a swing at someone like Kuminga or Zion if he’s available. NO has little incentive to tear down what they have already tho.
