Estonia, Great Britain, Belgium Finalize EuroBasket Rosters

With EuroBasket set to tip off on Wednesday, three more nations have announced their 12-man rosters for the tournament.

Former NBA small forward Henri Drell leads the way for Estonia. Drell appeared in four games with Chicago on a two-way contract during the 2023/24 season, posting 11 points, three rebounds and four assists in 30 total minutes. He spent last season with Portland’s G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix, and moved on to Spain’s La Laguna Tenerife in March.

Other members of the Estonian roster are Märt Rosenthal, Sander Raieste, Kaspar Treier, Mikk Jurkatamm, Matthias Tass, Siim-Sander Vene, Kregor Hermet, Janari Jõesaar, Joonas Riismaa, Artur Konontšuk and Kristian Kullamäe.

Estonia is in Group A with Portugal, Turkey, Serbia, the Czech Republic and host Latvia.

Center Gabe Olaseni, a star in Turkey’s Basketball Super League, is the top player for Great Britain, whose roster was announced on the FIBA website. Also on the roster are Amin Adamu, Dan Akin, Jubrile Belo, Myles Hesson, Luke Nelson, Tarik Phillip, Josh Ward-Hibbert, Jelani Watson-Gayle, Pat Whelan, Carl Wheatle and Akwasi Yeboah.

Great Britain has never advanced past group play in six previous EuroBasket appearances. They’re in Group B with Germany, Lithuania, Sweden, Montenegro and host Finland.

Belgium also doesn’t feature any players with NBA experience, as its official roster includes Ismael Bako, Mamadou Guisse, Manu Lecomte, Siebe Ledegen, Joppe Mennes, Jean-Marc Mwema, Loic Schwartz, Godwin Tshimanga, Kevin Tumba, Niels Van Den Eynde, Andy Van Vliet and Hans Vanwijn.

The Belgians will be looking for their first medal in their 19th EuroBasket appearance. Their best finish was fourth in 1947.

Belgium is in Group D with France, Iceland, Slovenia, Israel and host Poland.

As of Monday morning, Cyprus, Georgia and Italy are the only participants in the 24-team tournament who haven’t announced their final rosters.

Official Early Entrants List For 2020 NBA Draft

The NBA has officially announced that 84 early entrant prospects will be eligible to be selected in the 2020 NBA draft next Wednesday. Of those early entrants, 71 are players from college or other educational institutions, while the remaining 13 are international prospects.

Although the number of early entrants is higher than the number of picks in the draft (60), the list of early entrants is still significantly smaller than it was at the NBA’s initial entry deadline in April. At that point, 205 early entrants had declared for the draft. After testing the waters, more than half of those players withdrew their names

The NBA’s list of early entrants includes one name that we had missed previously: Ridgeview Prep big man Nikolaos Okekuoyen. He wasn’t on the NBA’s list following the adjusted early entry deadline in August, so presumably the league determined after the fact that he got his paperwork completed on time.

Tony Goodwin II, Osas Ehigiator, Miguel Gonzalez, Sehmus Hazer, Arturs Kurucs, Caio Pacheco, Sander Raieste, Njegos Sikiras, Aboubacar Traore, and Uros Trifunovic are among the players withdrawing from the draft since our last check-in.

Draft Notes: Nembhard, Mann, Lawson, More

Sophomore guard Andrew Nembhard will test the draft waters, college basketball analyst Jeff Goodman reports (Twitter link). Nembhard has signed with Jaafar Choufani, who is one of just 23 NCAA-certified agents. The point guard will retain his ability to return to Florida if he decides to go that route.

Here’s more on the upcoming draft:

  • Florida freshman guard Tre Mann has declared for the draft, Goodman passes along on Twitter. Mann averaged 5.3 points per game this past year.
  • South Carolina sophomore guard A.J. Lawson will test the draft water, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports tweets. Lawson will have the ability to return to school as he has not hired an agent.
  • Jonathan Givony of Draft Express passes along several international prospects who will declare for the 2020 draft. Miguel Gonzalez (Baskonia), Sander Raieste (BC Kalev), Osas Ehigiator (Fuenlabrada), Njegos Sikiras (Fuenlabrada) have all entered their names.

Latest On Early Entrants List For 2019 NBA Draft

The deadline for early entrants to declare for the 2019 NBA draft fell on Sunday night, with plenty of NCAA underclassmen and international prospects entering their names into the draft before that deadline.

News continues to trickle in on players making draft decisions, and it will just be a matter of time before the NBA issues an official list of the players who declared for the 2019 NBA draft as early entrants. Once that group is set, the next key deadline to watch will be May 29 — that’s the last day for NCAA players to withdraw from draft consideration while retaining their college eligibility.
