Celtics Aggressively Pursuing Lottery Pick

The Celtics are "aggressively" working to move up in tonight's draft, says Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports (Twitter link). The Celtics currently hold the 21st and 22nd picks in the first round, but are looking to land at least a late-lottery pick, if not something higher, according to Wojnarowski.

Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group points out (via Twitter) that the Warriors (No. 7) could be a potential trade partner for the Celtics, though Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports says Golden State expects to keep its pick and draft the best player available (Twitter link). Michael Kidd-Gilchrist could be a target for the C's, depending on how high a pick they're seeking — according to Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News, MKG said the Celtics wanted him badly at the combine (Twitter link).

I have my doubts that simply packaging the 21st and 22nd picks could move the Celtics up more than a few spots, so the team may need to include a player or take on salary in order to move up significantly. With a number of players facing free agency, the Celtics only have six contracts that could be offered in potential deals.
