Devin Booker Named All-Star Injury Replacement

Suns guard Devin Booker has been selected to replace Anthony Davis as a Western Conference All-Star, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Booker was considered one of the most glaring All-Star snubs after averaging 24.7 points, 3.8 points and 4.3 assists through 26 games. His play has helped Phoenix rise to fourth place in the West at 20-10. This will be the second All-Star appearance for Booker, who was chosen as a reserve last season.

Davis is recovering from a strained right calf and isn’t expected to return for about four weeks.

We get that you have a Trae Young bobble head, aswell as a customized pajamas… Trae Young is not deserving this year! He can’t even keep his team in the playoffs! He prefers to flop, cry for calls, and hog the ball rather than do whatever it takes for his team to win!

      • El Don

I mean Ice Trae gives 10 assists per game, which no guard has ever done in the history of TOR… so what is your point?
Ice Trae has been outrageously good this year, as always, he deserves a call up, end of the discussion!!!
Ice Trae is a superstar as a matter of fact!!!
If you can’t see that, maybe should change hobbies my friend!

    • What other injury replacements are there? Pretty sure there won’t be a “next”

Never should of been a replacement should of been on the team already. Come to NY get the recognition you deserve.

Imagine thinking Devin Booker is better than Curry or Lillard, the guy isn’t even on the tier below them, he’s like 3 tiers under them. Pathetic. Phoenix are winning because of Paul, Ayton and Bridges, Booker isn’t even the 3rd best player on that team this season.

    • Cantbebeat2020

Marty your actually 100 percent accurate on this man! Look at advanced stats nothing shows him being worthy of an all star spot. Cp3 is the main reason they are in playoffs….booker is a bad defender and shoots a ton at a modest clip. 19 win shares 5 years in….for reference Davis had 48 win shares at that same time.

I figured he’d get picked. Truth is he deserves it more than Chris. He’s by far their best player.

You have the face of a weird cartoon cat. Also, I’m not buying that “doctor” claim for a second.

  4. Cantbebeat2020

Why are the advanced metrics on booker so bad? Does he just post empty stat lines?

Booker is a great player yeah, but I feel so bad for Conley. Hopefully he makes it next year. Not even a Jazz fan but he has been playing well

Looks like it’s gonna be official, Mike Conley as The Best To Never Make It

    • hiflew

According to a table on the Ringer, the two best to never make the All Star Game are Jason Terry and Andre Miller with both slightly over 100. Conley is at 83 currently, good for 7th on the list but is the highest active player, so he could pass them before his career ends with another good season or two.

Of course the thing about stats is that they can always be manipulated to serve your argument, so I am sure there is one that calls Conley the best too.

Was the table before or after an article ranking the top most underrated flintstone vitamins in a tournament style bracket?

        • buttholesurfer69

After Flintstones but before 27 Ways This Celtics Season Is JUST LIKE Season 7 Of Game Of Thrones

      • Chief Two Hands

There’s no manipulation involved whenever 9 out of 10 dentists agree about something, though. That stat gets etched in stone immediately.

    • El Don

@BUTTholesurfer69… sorry that title has been taken for a long time, Derek Harper was way better than Conley & played in better teams, sadly never made it to the ASG!

      • buttholesurfer69

        @el_don

I don’t take the Conley thing that serious, I’m half mocking the podcasts that all tout that he is

Harper was a little before my time, only really remember him on NYK where he def was not an AS. On Dallas I’ll take your word for it

        • x%sure

It would be a shame if Conley is denied so that he can “compete” for the title of best never picked.
Not everyone watches sports news tv shows!

If I’m Booker I’d prefer the snub. “Injury replacement”? Cringey AF!

“I know it’s prom night but my cooler, hotter date left to go to a college party. So… you wanna come with?”

There are only a few stats that really matter in basketball. Don’t over analyze. Stats are different for a D and O player. Then there are different type of players. Chemistry and managing a gm have no stats. The best test is the eye test. If you follow your team and really watch them. You already know more than you think. Booker came into L as one of youngest guys in draft. He was the 13th pick. Came in as a shooter. Well he’s basically put up 25 a gm for last 4 yrs. A shooter hitting over .50% FG is a great stat plus 4.3 ast. He’s not a gm manager. That’s why they got Chris. You think Suns win without Booker. They were best team in bubble last yr. Booker is an all star and he’s still getting better. Scary good.

    • x%sure

Yes, PER and on-off. PER includes whichever “few [basic] stats that really matter”, and on-off shows how well the team does when the player is in.
